Alita: Battle Angel remains without a sequel six years after its theatrical release. The 2019 cyberpunk action film, based on the manga series Battle Angel Alita, was directed by Robert Rodriguez from a screenplay co-written by James Cameron.

The good news is that fans of Alita: Battle Angel will soon be able to stream the action epic on one of the biggest streamers available in the United States. Beginning July 1, Hulu will add Alita: Battle Angel to its platform, allowing its subscribers to revisit, or perhaps watch the movie for the first time, whenever they'd like. Rosa Salazar stars as the title character, Alita, a cyborg who awakens in a new body without memory of her past and sets out to uncover her destiny. It has now been six years since audiences were introduced to the cyberpunk world of director Robert Rodriguez’s action outing, Alita: Battle Angel. After waiting patiently, the filmmaker has now revealed the news that fans want to hear.

Appearing recently on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the director declared that he is still fighting to return to the Iron City and get Alita: Battle Angel 2 made. While he was short on details regarding where they are in the production process, if they are anywhere at all, Rodriguez did reveal that one of the main sets is still standing, and he’s eager to bring the next chapter in the Alita saga to the big screen.

It's been six years since Alita: Battle Angel was released in theaters, and it has been a few years since James Cameron announced that a sequel is in the works. While a release date has yet to be revealed, its director, Robert Rodriguez, shared his thoughts on the project's progress.

In an interview with Joe Rogan, Rodriguez emphasized that Alita's journey in the Iron City is far from over and said he wanted to make another movie based on Yukito Kishiro's manga series. The filmmaker has previously stated that he was doubtful that a sequel would come to light due to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. But his mindset changed when he saw more Fox films coming out. If a follow-up feature were to be made, he and Cameron would have enough material to make two more movies.

It's not just Rodriguez who wants an Alita: Battle Angel sequel.

Showtime dropped the first episode in its newest series, “Waco: The Aftermath,” where we learn about the events that followed the Siege of Waco in February 1993. After a 51-day siege outside the Mt. Carmel compound, where the self-proclaimed Messiah David Koresh (Taylor Kitsch) and almost 80 of his followers (women and children included) were housed, the Atf and FBI sent a tank to destroy the house and deployed tear gas. The house went up in flames, killing almost everyone inside, Koresh included. Review: Back in 2018, Showtime’s six-episode series Waco recreated the tragic siege of the Branch Davidian compound in Texas by the FBI. With a stellar cast led by Michael Shannon as FBI negotiator Gary Noesner and Taylor Kitsch as Branch Davidian cult leader David Koresh, Waco was met with positive yet mixed reviews. Many felt the workmanlike drama was too sympathetic towards Koresh and his followers but praised Kitsch’s performance and that of the ensemble cast.

Hulu Originals renewed a first look output deal with comedy production company American High.

Founded in 2017 by writer, director and producer Jeremy Garelick and producer Mickey Liddell’s Ld Entertainment, American High aims to tell “modern stories of eclectic characters from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the most formative (and often most hilarious) years of their lives.”

Under the renewed partnership announced Wednesday, the companies will release “Miguel Wants to Fight,” a coming of age comedy about a 17-year-old who asks his three best friends to help him get in his first fight ever before he moves to a new city. The cast includes Tyler Dean Flores, Imani Lewis, Christian Vunipola, Suraj Partha and Raul Castillo.

But while this series was originally intended to be released through the Paramount+ streaming service, Deadline reports that Paramount Global executive Chris McCarthy has decided to shift the series over to Showtime instead. Waco: The Aftermath will premiere on Showtime’s streaming and on demand platforms on April 14th, before airing on Showtime itself at 10pm on April 16th. The conglomerate on Wednesday announced that Waco: The Aftermath, the follow-up to the 2018 limited series, will debut on Showtime. The show was originally picked up to air as a Paramount+ original after the 2018 show launched on Paramount Network.

Waco: The Aftermath stars Michael Shannon. The actor recently starred in Showtime’s George & Tammy, which became a Showtime original after it was originally picked up for Spectrum with a deal for a second window on Paramount Network.

Alita: Battle Angel star Keean Johnson has joined as a new series regular and a trio of actors – Vivienne Guynn, Chad Rook and Aadila Dosani – have been promoted from recurring to series regulars.

This comes after Deadline revealed that the network had renewed the Michael Dorman-fronted drama series for a second season earlier this year.

Michael Shannon and John Leguizamo will reprise their roles from Paramount Network’s 2018 limited series “Waco” in “American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials,” MTV Entertainment Studios announced Monday. The follow-up series will explore the legal fallout after the tragic events that took place in Waco, Texas, in 1993.

Waco was the longest gun battle in U.S. law enforcement in history, as a small religious community known as the Branch Davidians led by David Koresh withstood a raid by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (Atf). Four Atf agents and six civilians were left dead and dozens more were wounded during the battle. A 51-day standoff ensued, and the conflict ended after an FBI assault led to a fire that engulfed the compound, killing 76 men, women and children.

Leguizamo received an Emmy nomination for his “Waco” role as Jacob Vasquez, an Atf agent who blows the whistle on the disastrous siege.

How’s this for a timely announcement: Elon Musk, aka Twitter’s new owner, will be the subject of the next installment in the documentary film series The New York Times Presents.

“Elon Musk’s Crash Course,” premiering Friday, May 20 at 10 pm Pt simultaneously on FX and Hulu, focuses on Musk’s claims about Tesla’s self-driving technology.

In a follow-up to Paramount Network‘s 2018 limited drama Waco, Paramount+ is unveiling the cast for the show’s sequel series, American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials. According to Deadline, John Leguizamo will reprise his role as Atf agent Jacob Vasquez, who worked undercover during the lead-up to Waco. Set to join him in the show are Succession‘s J. Smith Cameron and Billions‘ David Costabile, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson, and Abby Lee. As viewers will recall, 2018’s Waco was led by Taylor Kitsch, who starred as David Koresh. David Costabile and J. Smith Cameron are among the stars joining the series, alongside John Leguizamo reprising his role. Giovanni Ribisi, John Hoogenakker, Keean Johnson and Abbey Lee also star.

Paramount Network’s Waco, fronted by Taylor Kitsch, explored the events in February 1993 in Mount Carmel, a small religious community when a raid by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (Atf) on David Koresh and his followers, known as the Branch Davidians led to a massive standoff and the death of dozens.

American Tragedies: Waco – The Trials will explore the wide-ranging fallout following these events and the uneven scales of justice the surviving Branch Davidians faced. It will also delve into how the horrific events fueled the emerging ‘Patriot’ movement, which ultimately led to the most destructive act of domestic terrorism in U.

Exclusive: Hulu has greenlighted The Binge 2: It’s A Wonderful Binge—a raunchy holiday sequel to American High’s 2020 comedy The Binge, which starred Vince Vaughn, Skyler Gisondo, Eduardo Franco and Dexter Darden. The original film’s screenwriter Jordan VanDina has been tapped to direct the new feature from his original script, in his feature debut.

Exclusive: Jeremy Garelick has been set to direct a sequel to Murder Mystery, with the expectation that Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler will reprise in the Netflix film. There is a script by James Vanderbilt, and Garelick will do a polish. The fast tracked film will shoot in Paris and the Caribbean.

Sandler played a cop and Aniston his wife in the original film, in which they went on vacation and got framed for the murder of an elderly rich guy.

There’s a genre of literature, rife with fear and dismay, that’s more steeped in sinister fate than the novels of Thomas Hardy, more flecked with cruelty than the bad-dream collages of William Burroughs. It’s so infused with a sense of life’s unfairness that merely to read it is to stalk the darkness.

I’m talking, of course, about YA fiction.

Someday, somebody will write an academic thesis — maybe it’s already been done — about why so many YA tales hinge on events of grandiose misfortune. Fatal cases of cancer, cataclysmic car accidents, or, in the case of “The Ultimate Playlist of Noise,” a sweet handsome menschy suburban teenager, Marcus Lund (Keean Johnson), who must undergo a brain operation that will leave him deaf. You could argue that the darkness of these stories is a way of respecting young audiences, a way of forcing them to confront how tough life can be.

Hulu has revealed the first trailer for a new film called The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, marking the first feature from filmmaker Bennett Lasseter. This emotional teen drama is about a boy named Marcus, an audio obsessed high school senior who learns he must undergo brain surgery that will leave him deaf. So he decides to seize control of his fate by recording the "Ultimate Playlist of Noise" - a selection of all of his favorite sounds. The film stars Keean Johnson as Marcus, Madeline Brewer as the girl with the eyes, along with Ariela Barer, Ian Gomez, Oliver Cooper, Emily Skeggs, and Carol Mansell. Well this looks better than expected, I must say. It's cute and charming, and filled with wonderful sounds galore.
