The Last Son of Krypton, the Man of Steel, the original superhero. Superman has been a part of the very fabric of pop-culture since he first arrived on the comic book scene in 1938 when he truly made people believe that a man could fly. It's no surprise that the awe, the wonder, and the hope that the DC Comics legend has inspired has lasted through the generations, entertaining audiences and readers around the world for almost a century.
We say "audiences" because, yes, the Man of Tomorrow has transcended his genre to become a movie legend, a TV legend, an animated legend, and a video game legend. There are so many fields that the hero has become a part of over the years (and so many more that we haven't mentioned) that it's hard to imagine what they all looked like without him. But that's just another clear example of...

Arguably the most iconic superhero in the world is Superman, the flagship character of DC Comics created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster in 1938. A smash success with readers upon his debut, the Man of Steel was immediately adapted into other mediums, from radio and movie serials and among the earliest superhero television series. With that in mind, there have been a lot of actors to play Superman in live-action, beyond small cameos and one-off appearances. And just like the many live-action Batman actors, everyone has their own favorite who played the legendary superhero.
From the franchise's black-and-white days on film and television to its big-budget Hollywood blockbuster era, the coming of a live-action Superman still feels like an event. But as beloved as many of these interpretations of the classic characters are, some just clearly stand as superior compared to their counterparts. Without further ado, here is every live-action Superman actor ranked,...

For more than two years, Joe Lipsett has dissected Amityville Horror films to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions. This is “The Amityville IP.”
There’s been a significant amount of backtracking in order to cross T’s and dot I’s for this editorial series. Sometimes an Amityville film drops without notification. Or it is announced and then takes years to debut. Some, such as Amityville Shark House, have never gotten a release.
Finally, there are films like The Amityville Exorcist (2022), which are just difficult to track down without venturing into sketchy corners of the Internet.
The second Amityville film from writer/director/actor Tony Newton harkens back to his first: Amityville Hex (2021). Both films are screen life films that mostly involve actors delivering their dialogue in direct address to the camera via Zoom or Skype, with very little interaction between the cast. Mega film producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been trying to crack a sixth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise for years. A follow-up has been in the works ever since the last installment — Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Bruckheimer has been talking about parallel installments with both new and old continuity, including a version with Margot Robbie, with conflicting reports on whether it is still a go. Bruckheimer is still giving updates about the developing sequel in his latest talk with ScreenRant.
While Bruckheimer has been vocally interested in involving Johnny Depp again, the Jack Sparrow star has gone through an image overhaul in recent years and there hasn’t been a definitive deal locked down yet. However, the producer says that even though Sparrow might not return, there will still be some familiar faces. Bruckheimer updates, “We’re working on a screenplay. Hopefully we...

If you're a fan of "How to Train Your Dragon," you may be pleasantly surprised at the changes director Dean DeBlois has made to the classic 2010 animated film (which he also co-directed) for his live-action remake. While the Viking Stoick is once again played by Gerard Butler and the Night Fury dragon Toothless looks virtually the same in both films, DeBlois gets a lot of mileage out of the new actors he casts to take over the roles. In addition to some welcome famous faces like Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, and Peter Serafinowicz, this version of "How to Train Your Dragon" has a pair of new leads in Mason Thames (playing dragon trainer Hiccup) and Nico Parker, who portrays dragon-training student Astrid.

As Roseanne Barr remembers it, God told her to do it.
It was Memorial Day weekend in 2018, and she was having trouble sleeping. Earlier in the day, the comedy star called Bruce Helford, the head writer of the “Roseanne” revival. Barr asked when she should plan to report back to the writers’ room of the ABC ratings juggernaut, which had been renewed for a second season.
“He said to me, ‘Oh, the writers are already back, and we would love you to come by and say hello,’” she recalls. “And when I heard it, I was like, ‘Fuck you. You’ve taken my writers’ room for my second season. Fuck you. I ain’t coming back. Fuck you.’ And then I said, ‘I’m gonna go out with the biggest bang that’s ever hit this fucking show business, even if it kills me.’”
Instead, she drifted off to sleep.

Searchlight Pictures has announced that principal photography has now wrapped on horror comedy sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which has also set a theatrical release of April 10, 2026.
The studio has also shared a production still featuring our first behind-the-scenes look at returning star Samara Weaving as Grace, alongside new co-star Kathryn Newton.
The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Abigail star's role has not been disclosed, but Newton and Weaving are handcuffed together in this photo, which will most likely turn out to be a significant plot point. Will these characters be forced to play another twisted game of hide and seek while (literally) chained at the wrist?
Radio Silence, aka Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, return to direct from a screenplay from Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The sequel also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, David Cronenberg(!) and Elijah Wood.

Find your best hiding spot and prepare to hunker down — Ready or Not: Here I Come has officially wrapped filming. Taking to their social media to share the terrific news, Searchlight Pictures dropped an image of two of the movie’s stars — returning final girl, Samara Weaving, and newcomer Kathryn Newton. What’s even better is that the post came with an official date announcement, stamping the production’s cinematic arrival for April 10, 2026. The photo itself features Weaving’s Grace and Newton’s newly added and yet-to-be-named character lying on the ground. The pair are handcuffed to one another, with the former donning a shoulder and hand bandage and the latter covered in blood. While we don’t yet know if they’re friends or foes in the movie, both actresses are nothing but smiles, celebrating a job well done.

No wonder Ricky Gervais got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Not only did he create the original version of The Office, star in other award-winning comedies and headline several stand-up specials, but he also defeated cancel culture. What a resume!
“We've had a few weird years of cancel culture, people telling you what you can and can’t laugh at or talk about,” Gervais told the assembled on the sidewalk as he accepted the honor. “But we pushed back, and we won — until the next time.”
How did Gervais triumphantly, albeit temporarily, win the war on cancel culture? He didn’t explicitly say, although he credited “a cocktail of luck, persistence and a little bit of pushing against the tide” for his career achievements.
He also confessed that he tells divisive jokes for profit. “You've got to polarize. You need to know that if you’re doing anything of any worth,...

Tubiis known for being the ultimate streaming site for free movies and television shows. While reality TV, comedies, romance, horror, and more may be the most popular genres, there are some people who value the streamer's ability to add all kinds of productions, even less popular ones. In June, there are a few history-inspired films coming to Tubi, including Matthew McConaughey's Free State of Jones. The 2016 war movie was one of the year's most divisive films, with some critics calling it powerful and others pointing out some inaccuracies in its storytelling. Whether you enjoyed the film or not, you'll get a chance to update your opinion on McConaughey's performance and the movie's plot while watching it on Tubi.
Free State of Jones is inspired by the life of Southern Unionist Newton Knight, who is said to have led a successful revolt against the Confederacy in Jones County, Mississippi during the American Civil War.

Through eight Mission: Impossible movies across three decades, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt clearly had his favorite teammates among the Impossible Mission Force. Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) were Ethan’s ride-or-die guys, while Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) was like a force of nature in three of the M:i films.
So what happened to everybody else?

Here’s how you know the “Mission: Impossible” movies are great: They were only made because the TV series “Mission: Impossible” was a gigantic, award-winning hit, and now hardly anyone even remembers that show.
What started as a crafty ensemble series about unlikely experts teaming up to perform impossible espionage missions evolved into a series of gigantic action spectaculars, less about a group of spies and more about Tom Cruise. Not even the character he played, Ethan Hunt. No, just Tom Cruise. It’s the franchise he made his own, a series of films that always portray him in a fawning, heroic light, in a series of productions that also made his daring do-it-yourself stunt mentality a beloved marketing ploy.
There are, truth be told, no “Mission: Impossible” films that aren’t at least mostly fun to watch. Some of them are great films. Some are merely great action movies.

“I need you to trust me… one last time.”
After nearly three decades of saving the world, it’s time for Ethan Hunt to face his Final Reckoning, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to join him on his most harrowing, death-defying adventure yet, which, thanks to Tom Cruise and writer-director Christopher McQuarrie, ultimately brings the franchise to an emotional (and mostly) satisfying close.

The eighth installment picks up two months after the explosive events of Dead Reckoning, with the world on the brink of a nuclear apocalypse courtesy of the Entity. With no options remaining, the President (Angela Bassett) manages to get a message through to Ethan Hunt, who has been off the grid ever since taking possession of the cruciform key.

“It Means the World”: ‘Lisa Frankenstein’ Director Teases Unrated Cut of the 2024 Cult Horror Comedy
The horror comedy sub-genre has dominated the 2020s with some of the funniest and memorable films genre fans have ever come across. Even the delightful nightmares that didn't do well at the box office have found their audience over time. The biggest example of that has been the zom-com Lisa Frankenstein. The 2024 Zelda Williams film starring modern “Final Girl” Kathryn Newton(Freaky) and Cole Sprouse(Riverdale) gained a rapid cult following thanks to streaming and the convention scene. That has been helped by its tame PG-13 rating, but Williams still hopes an “Unrated Cut” will see the light of day.
In a post on her Instagram story earlier this month, thanking theLisa Frankenstein fanbase, she teased the ghoulishly fun possibility. “Endlessly thankful to all the Lisa Frankenfamily out there. Luke Newton may now be sweeping us off our feet as the brooding Colin Bridgerton—resident heartthrob of the Ton—but long before he was trading smoldering stares across Regency ballrooms, he was belting out show tunes and breaking hearts as one of pop culture’s most iconic exes. That’s right, before he became the Duke of our daydreams, Luke was strutting his stuff onstage as Warner Huntington III in Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Yes, that Warner. The one who dumped Elle Woods for Harvard clout. Shocking, I know. And while I live for the slow-burn romance, corset tension, and carriage confessions, nothing gets my TikTok feed more fired up than a little behind-the-scenes tea.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniaactress Kathryn Newton is preparing to sink her teeth into a creature feature that will see her swap ground insects for underwater predators. The Marvel star has secured a major role in a shark survival thriller helmed by Jeff Wadlow, the director of Kick-Ass 2, Fantasy Island, and Imaginary. Newton will headline the upcoming film, titled Devil's Mouth, alongside Lana Condor, who is best known for her role in To All the Boys I've Loved Before, but also starred in the recently unshelved Coyote Vs. Acme.
Newton is no stranger to scares, having starred in two acclaimed horror movies (among other titles) just last year, hot on the heels of her heroic turn in the McU's third Ant-Man film. The first was the "coming of rage love story" Lisa Frankenstein, which saw her in the titular role opposite Cole Sprouse, and the second was the hit vampire flick Abigail,...

Scream queen Kathryn Newton has booked her next scary movie and this one is a survival thriller about college friends terrorized by a bull shark.
Deadline reports that Newton will co-star with Lana Condor in Devil's Mouth, a co-production between Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate. While on a trip to Thailand, two friends become "trapped in an underwater cave system with a bull shark. Old tensions and power struggles resurface as they fight to survive."
Honestly, it's not the most original of storylines. It sounds very similar to 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, which followed teen girls swimming into sunken Mayan ruins and getting trapped within the underwater labyrinth of caves while surrounded by sharks. But I'm willing to give Devil's Mouth a chance, if only because Newton usually picks pretty good scripts.

Kathryn Newton's star power is gaining strength as The Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania actress has secured another major role, this time in a new shark thriller, Devil's Mouth. The film will see Newton battling for survival against the relentless underwater predator aptly likened to the devil. She won’t be facing the danger alone, though, as the report from Deadline reveals that To All The Boys I've Loved Before breakout star, Lana Condor, has also been cast. Devil's Mouth is a high-profile collaboration between Amazon MGM, and Lionsgate, marking Newton's second Amazon project following the well-received time-loop romance The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, which premiered on Prime Video to critical acclaim.
In what promises to be a thrilling spin on the modern shark horror hit, 47 Meters Down, Devil's Mouth will see Newton and Condo as two college best friends whose vacation trip to Thailand takes a dangerous turn.

Dearest gentle viewers, your patience has finally been rewarded: Netflix has renewed “Bridgerton” for Seasons 5 and 6. Additionally, the streamer has confirmed “Bridgerton” Season 4 will debut in 2026.
The fourth season marks the halfway point for Netflix’s “Bridgerton” TV series adaptation, which is set to adapt all eight books from Julia Quinn’s romance series about the eight siblings in the titular Bridgerton family. And with the new two-season order, Netflix has formally picked up at least six out of the planned eight seasons for the Shonda Rhimes-produced Regency-era romance.
The announcements were made out of Netflix’s upfront presentation to advertisers, where it revealed new footage from “Bridgerton” Season 4, which shows season leads Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha as Benedict Bridgerton and love interest Sophie Baek, respectively. In the clip from the new season, Benedict lays eyes on Sophie at a masquerade ball and it’s seemingly love at first masked sight.

Halfway through the 2020s, the verdict is still out about whether or not this has been a good decade for movies. Every one of the past five years, beginning with the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020, has been marked with concerning debates about the state of Hollywood, the viability of continued large-scale filmmaking and the entertainment industry’s future. A few years back, as streamers purged their libraries of films that "weren't performing well" for tax write-offs, I lamented a possible future without cult films. My love of cinema was forged in the fires of VHS tapes found at my local Mom & Pop video store, bizarre movies recommended to me by the teenager behind the rental counter, and box office flops that found their audiences when they could be consumed from the safety of a living room couch. I hypothesized that cult films will never die, and that "as long as people are making weird, subversive, and provocative films that were never meant to appeal to four-quadrant audiences, there will be those dedicating their time to finding them and making sure like-minded folks can enjoy them, even if it means putting the 'underground' back into underground cinema."

Even though The Lincoln Lawyer will be down a fan-favorite character in season 4, the hit Netflix original legal drama has added four more new cast members to the fold. Superman & Lois alum Emmanuelle Chriqui, The Man in the High Castle star Jason O'Mara, The Oval favorite Javon Johnson, and chef Nancy Silverton will make appearances in the upcoming fourth season.

Luke Newton, who plays the adorably clueless Colin in Bridgerton, didn’t just stumble into that dreamy glow-up; he worked for it. Becoming the charming yet oblivious heartthrob we see on screen took more than just a well-fitted waistcoat. Behind that smoldering stare was serious dedication, from gym sessions to mastering Colin’s vibe, Newton put in the hours.
He literally had to transform both physically and emotionally, tapping into the character’s charm while making him believable as a man ready to take center stage. Here is how he did it!
How Luke Newton brought Colin Bridgerton’s transformation to life!

Bridgerton Season 3 gave us so many swoon-worthy moments that it almost became hard to keep track. Even so, none hit home as hard as Colin’s romantically impatient proposal to Penelope.
What could’ve easily been delivered as a standard, run-of-the-mill romantic line was turned into something so real, vulnerable, and even funny, all thanks to Luke Newton’s masterful delivery. And the best part? The man wasn’t even trying hard! Yet, somehow, we were all left absolutely emotionally wrecked, in the best possible way.
Colin Bridgerton actor Luke Newton knows exactly what chords to strike
Julia Quinn’s ‘Romancing Mr. Bridgerton’ narrates Colin’s proposal to Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) as a straightforward and earnest one. However, in Netflix’s adaptation, it is a refreshingly messy affair- as real love often is.
Colin (Luke Newton) can be seen blurting the question out in the middle of a high-powered conversation.

'Ready or Not 2' Grabs 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Yellowjackets' Stars for Horror Sequel
Ready or Not: Here I come! That's not just a fun thing kids say while playing hide-and-seek. It's also now the official title for Ready or Not 2. The sequel to the hit 2019 horror comedy from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Radio Silence) was announced with much anticipation late last year with star Samara Weaving (The Babysitter) returning alongside genre vet Kathryn Newton (Freaky). Now it's been revealed that cameras have started rolling on Ready or Not: Here I Come in Toronto with a slew of casting announcements. The latter of which is headlined by slasher icon Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Elijah Woods (The Monkey).
Reported by Deadline, Gellar and Woods will join the new cast with Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand and David Cronenberg. The last name on this list is another standout as Cronenberg has directed such genre classics as The Fly (1986), Scanners and Videodrome.

One common thread throughout the discussion was the impulse to use music as an expression of character. For Anders, the needle drops on “Good American Family” — which include everything from 1970s ballads like “Sometimes When We Touch” and “Romeo’s Tune” to later radio hits from Jimmy Eats World, Meat Loaf, and...
