Ravyn Lenae first went to Lollapalooza when she was 16 years old. “I got so blacked out,” the Chicago native tells Rolling Stone. “I was young. I didn’t know how to handle my liquor. I did edibles with the liquor, I wasn’t thinking at all. They had to carry me out of Lollapalooza. So it’s good to be back and on my two feet!”

In an increasingly-saturated music festival market, there’s still no other festival quite like Outside Lands.
Synonymous with San Francisco, for the last 17 years, Outside Lands has taken over the city’s Golden Gate Park and hosted iconic performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, The Strokes, Green Day and Chappell Roan, while injecting more Bay Area DNA into the event each year. In 2018, it became one of the first major music festivals to offer the sale of marijuana, while last year, Outside Lands added a “City Hall” where festivalgoers can get legally married, an homage to the 2004 “Winter of Love” where San Francisco offered the first same-sex marriage licenses in U.S. history.
“This is a like never ending art project for us is how we think about it,” Rick Farman, who co-founded the festival with Bay Area concert promoter Another Planet Entertainment through his promotion company Superfly. “It’s always constantly evolving.

At first glance, the new Paramount has a 2026 slate that looks a little bare – only five films slated for release. But studio insiders told TheWrap on Thursday that three other films that are deep in post-production are on course for release in 2026.
The first is “Heart of the Beast,” a survival thriller from “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer starring Brad Pitt as an Army special forces vet who must survive in the Alaskan wilderness with his retired combat dog after a plane crash. Also starring J.K. Simmons and with Damien Chazelle as executive producer, it will mark Pitt’s first film since he set a new career high at the box office with Apple’s “F1.”
The other two films are a pair of horror projects from Paramount’s production deal with 18hz, the company founded by former DC Films chief Walter Hamada after his exit from the superhero label: “Primate,...

Beyoncé fans might finally get to see her at the Emmy Awards this year!
Although the 43-year-old “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer has been nominated for an Emmy in the past, she has never attended the award show. For the 2025 Emmys, Beyoncé is once again nominated, this time for the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for her Beyoncé Bowl halftime show performance.
Although this category was previously going to be awarded during the Creative Arts Emmys, Deadline is reporting that the Television Academy has moved the category to the main telecast.
Keep reading to find out more…
The publication speculates that the move might have been to entice Beyoncé to attend the award show in case she takes home the award.
Beyoncé has some stiff competition in the category. She’s up against Kendrick Lamar‘s halftime show, SNL 50 which is nominated twice in the category, and The 2025 Oscars.

One of the (low-key) buzziest Emmy showdowns of the year just got promoted.
The race for Best Variety Special (Live) — featuring high-wattage contenders like Netflix’s Beyoncé Bowl and Peacock’s SNL 50: The Anniversary Special — was originally scheduled for the second night of the Creative Arts Emmys. Gold Derby has confirmed that the Television Academy has now moved it to the main Primetime Emmys telecast, airing Sept. 14 on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.
According to Gold Derby’s latest combined odds, SNL50: The Anniversary Special is the category front-runner, followed by Apple Music’s Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show starring Kendrick Lamar, The Oscars, Beyoncé Bowl, and SNL50: The Homecoming Concert — another tribute entry from the most Emmy-winning show in history.
That means Queen Bey will have to defy the odds — again — if she hopes to finally add Emmy gold to her crowded trophy case.

The venue shared the news on their website last night, writing, “Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow’s performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled. The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, Aug. 5, and it’s set to be an unforgettable night.

In its first week, Clipse’s Let God Sort Em Out album accrued 118,000 first-week sales, earning a spot at Number Four on the Billboard 200 — their highest chart debut. Along with its sharp rhymes, the album was praised for its extensive and holistic media rollout, which appeased blog-era rap fans accustomed to the rollouts of the aughts, which often included a great deal of press. They created multiple editorial profiles and conducted a Hot 97 radio premiere for “So Be It,” which led to a scavenger hunt for its MP3 file — it...

Stephen Curry didn’t flinch. He might’ve been tired of Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us but that fatigue wasn’t rooted in pettiness; it was personal. Unlike LeBron James, who danced publicly to a diss aimed squarely at Drake, Curry admitted in a recent Complex interview that his groan was rooted in friendship. Curry said:
We go way back though and it’s actually kind of a family thing too. One of Ayesha’s cousins is from Toronto and the whole deal. So, we’re all in the same boat.
“Everywhere we went, it was all I heard,” Curry told Complex, adding:
The fact that they know who I was with. You can’t do nothing about what the DJ’s playing. But I was like, I got sick of it at a certain point. It’s funny the cameras caught me because that was from the soul.

For South Park architects Trey Parker and Matt Stone, timing is everything. Just days after their show was reupped on Paramount+ for $1.5 billion and less than 24 hours after their explicit season 27 premiere of the show put President Donald Trump in bed with the devil, and mere hours after the FCC approved the Skydance-Paramount merger, the two were centerstage in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con.
This morning a Trump administration source exclaimed, “The President is seething over the childish attack by South Park.”
So what’s life been like for Stone and Parker since?
When asked by the moderator of tonight’s Comic-Con Comedy Central Animation panel about the response was to last night’s premiere, Parker deadpanned, “We’re terribly sorry.”
‘South Park’ creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone kept it short and sweet with their deadpan response to the reaction over last night’s very topical Season 27 premiere | #Sdcc 2025 pic.

We’re now just two months away from Paul Thomas Anderson’s highly anticipated One Battle After Another. Ahead of the September 26 release, which features an IMAX and 70mm roll-out, Warner Bros. has now finally started to kick up the marketing as the first full Kendrick Lamar-backed trailer has arrived along with a set of character posters.
Marking the director’s long-awaited collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio after they attempted to work together for Boogie Nights some three decades ago, the action-thriller-comedy draws from Thomas Pynchon’s sprawling 1990 novel Vineland. While the novel was set in the Reagan era, PTA has shifted to the modern day, telling the story of a father who has left behind his radical past and is now living a quiet life on the lam with his daughter. When Sean Penn’s white supremacist Colonel character returns from the past to track them down, they must go on the run.

Tyler, the Creator only recently released his previous album “Chromakopia,” but has already confirmed another project. The rapper put out the album in October but recently released a dance album, entitled “Don’t Tap the Glass.” The music producer and sketch comedy series creator had been posting teases about this project, via Pitchfork, interested specifically in freedom of expression when it came to dancing. He made a post on X (formerly Twitter), wanting to celebrate this expression.
"I asked some friends why they don’t dance in public and some said because of the fear of being filmed. I thought damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost. It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme, all for having a good time."

The greatest lost concert in American history almost never happened at all. It was Oct. 27, 1968, in Palo Alto, California. Outside of his high school, Danny Scher, a 16-year-old, bushy-haired, jazz-obsessed, self-described “weirdo,” was pacing the parking lot waiting for his hero, and music’s most elusive and enigmatic genius, to show up: composer and pianist Thelonious Monk.
To the disbelief of most everyone — including his mother and girlfriend waiting alongside him — Scher claimed to have booked the jazz legend for an afternoon gig, the modern equivalent of securing Kendrick Lamar for prom.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé are the Emmys’ “’25 Bonnie and Clyde.” Let’s just hope the power couple stays Drunk in Love even after this year’s competition, where they’re competitors in the outstanding variety special (live) category.
Jay-Z, under his real name Shawn Carter, is among the executive producers nominated for Fox’s “The Apple Music Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show Starring Kendrick Lamar,” which earned four nods total. Beyoncé is up for Netflix’s “Beyoncé Bowl” as executive producer and performer (billed as Beyoncé Knowles-Carter); that Christmas event also landed four nods.
Perhaps Jesse Collins can keep the peace. Not only is Jesse Collins Entertainment once again producing this year’s Emmy telecast, but the company was part of both the Kendrick Lamar halftime show and the Beyoncé event. On Emmy night in the production truck, Collins is likely to face 99 problems — hopefully this isn’t one.

Beyoncé is pulling out all stops — and raising some eyebrows — as she once again attempts to win her first Emmy.
Fresh off her historic first Grammy win for Album of the Year, the Cowboy Carter star's NFL Christmas Day halftime show for Netflix, titled Beyoncé Bowl, has earned four nominations — including two categories where she could take home the award: Best Variety Special (Live) and Best Directing for a Variety Special.
The Emmy has eluded Queen Bey — she has lost eight previous bids (nine if you count Daytime Emmys) — but her campaign for gold is in full swing. You can't get caught in an L.A. traffic jam without seeing billboards for the seven-month-old performance — she has even got posters at the bus stop. Luminate’s 2025 midyear report has arrived, and it has some surprising data: Rock is back.
According to the report, rock came in second in the top U.S. core genre, ranked by on-demand audio streaming. It sits with 123.3 billion, behind hip-hop and R&b at 171.1 billion. But that’s not all: Rock experienced the highest growth compared to the same timeframe as 2024, with Latin, country, and Christian/gospel following. The Sinners soundtrack — and the adjacent activity of featured artists — caused a spike in the blues.
Meanwhile, Becoming Led Zeppelin landed at No.

Beyoncé is facing some particularly familiar competition for an Emmy this year: her own husband.
As the 2025 Emmy nominations were announced on Tuesday, both Queen Bey and Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) were listed as nominees in the outstanding variety special (live) category; Beyoncé for her Beyoncé Bowl halftime show for the NFL’s Christmas Day game on Netflix, and Jay as one of the executive producers for Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show.
It’s hard to track how many times a husband and wife have ever competed against one another in the same Emmy category in the past, though it’s certainly not a common occurrence.
Both Beyoncé and Lamar’s halftime shows were critically lauded and groundbreaking. Beyoncé performed the first-ever Christmas Day NFL halftime show, while Lamar broke records for the most-viewed Super Bowl halftime show of all time with over 133 million viewers.

A father-daughter composing team was nominated, Hans Zimmer could win his first Emmy, and a music supervisor was nominated for three different shows — just some of the surprises among nominations for the 2024-2025 Emmys unveiled Tuesday morning by the Television Academy.
