Video Interview: Kaitlyn Bernard and Brenna Llewellyn Talk The Sinners (Exclusive)
The Sinners (2020)
The people who are the most at peace with themselves and their existences are often those who have the courage to take risks and pursue the ambitions they have set for themselves. What do attractive teens get up to in 2020? They vape and go on that TikTok, right? Wrong! They form cults. Honestly, kids today. Back when I was young, I used to drink alcohol until I lost control of my body and my Mum had to come and rescue me. As God intended.

The Sinners review – inept teen horror dead on arrival
Courtney Paige
A cultish clique of teenage bullies commit a sin against cinema’s first commandment to show, don’t tell

Several past-it tropes from 1990s and 00s teen horror films strut the corridors of high school once more in this debut by director Courtney Paige. In a devoutly Christian small town, local preacher’s daughter Grace Carver (Kaitlyn Bernard) rebels against her conservative community by wearing scarlet lipstick and conducting a strenuously titillating affair with her Bff (very Cruel Intentions). The actual scandal though is her cultish clique, the Sins (very The Craft), founded with six of her naughtiest classmates. The group is so named because each member is reputed to embody a different one of the seven cardinal vices. Flirtatious Grace is Lust, rich girl Katie is Greed and so on.

When “Pride”, Aka Aubrey (Brenna Llewellyn), is perceived to have transgressed their code – by recording her innermost thoughts in...

New Trailer for Murder Mystery 'The Sinners' About Seven Schoolgirls
Alain Delon, Romy Schneider, and Maurice Ronet in The Swimming Pool (1969)
"They are asking for trouble with that behavior!" Brainstorm Media has released an official trailer for an indie thriller titled The Sinners, formerly known as The Color Rose, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Courtney Paige. This originally premiered at the Mammoth Film Festival last year, and arrives on VOD early next month. The Sinners is a thrilling murder mystery about seven girls from a religious town that start a cult where they embody the seven deadly sins. They realize there's more to their small religious town after they go missing one by one after a prank goes wrong. The indie horror-thriller stars Kaitlyn Bernard, Brenna Coates, Brenna Llewellyn, Aleks Paunovic, Lochlyn Munro, Michael Eklund, and Tahmoh Pinikett. It looks a tad cliche and cheesy, with the religious undertones, but still quite eerie. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Courtney Paige's The Sinners, direct from YouTube: You...

I think you all know me by now and realise that I am willing to give pretty much anything a fair shake. The Sinners synopsis did read like a bit of a change pace as well, moving into the more teen angs drama territory with a promise of some sort of “Mean Girls meets The Craft” hybrid. Of course I wasn’t the biggest fan of Let’s Scare Julie which felt like it was trying to do a similar things. So I was quietly hoping that this one would win me over…

Courtney Paige
The Sinners - Jennie Kermode - 16316
Courtney Paige
A high school clique. Glamour, exclusivity, bad reputations. Artfully arranged dead girls with roses pressed between their lips. The Sinners plays the part so well that you'd be forgiven for thinking it was just more of the usual, but this is Courtney Paige's film, and she's taking it somewhere very different.

One of the opening night selections for Frightfest's October 2020 edition, this is the story of a group of girls who don't so much choose to form a clique as get pushed into one, being labelled sinners because they don't share the values held by most people in their Evangelical Christian town (though one remains keen to point out "We're not atheists!"). Taking ownership of the slur, they decide that each of them will embody one of the Deadly Sins, though only Wrath (Brenna Coates) seems committed to it full time. Lust (Kaitlyn Bernard) is a pastor's daughter and.

Seven Girls Start a Cult in 'The Color Rose' Trailer with Kaitlyn Bernard
The Sinners (2020)
"All my friends are dying, and it's all my fault..." Rock Salt Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for an indie cult drama titled The Color Rose, marking the directorial debut of Canadian filmmaker Courtney Paige - who also co-stars in the film. Seven girls decide to start a cult where each of them must embody one of the seven deadly sins. They realize there's more to their religious town after they go missing one by one. Described as "a compelling and haunting tale with eerie twists", of course, which is exactly what the story sounds like anyway. This stars Kaitlyn Bernard, Loretta Walsh, Elysia Rotaru, Brenna Llewellyn, Brenna Coates, Keilani Elizabeth Rose, Jasmine Randhawa, Carly Fawcett, Aleks Paunovic, and Lochlyn Munro. This looks rather bland and derivative, without anything new or interesting going on. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Courtney Paige's The Color Rose, direct from YouTube...

Johnny Depp Gets A Failing Grade For “The Professor”
It’s kind of interesting to see Johnny Depp in a movie like this. Years ago, the A-lister would take risks in smaller fare, playing oddball characters in simple character studies. However, it has been a long time since Depp has popped up in something of that sort. So, this week’s release of The Professor marks a return to the past for the man. Unfortunately, it’s also an incredibly forgettable work with little to offer. Pleasant enough to watch, it disappears from your memory as soon as the end credits roll. What’s worse, despite giving Depp a prime opportunity to go all out, he plays it oddly low key, opting for minor drunkenness over something more extreme and, frankly, interesting. The film (formerly known as Richard Says Goodbye) is a dramedy about how a college professor deals with a cancer diagnosis. When Richard (Depp) is told he has a terminal illness,...

First Trailer for Dark Comedy 'The Professor' Starring Depp & DeWitt
"Are you alright?" "Well... no." Saban Films has debuted the official trailer for an indie drama titled The Professor, the second feature from writer/director Wayne Roberts (Katie Says Goodbye). Johnny Depp stars in this as a world-weary college professor diagnosed with a terminal illness who throws caution to the wind and indulges in numerous vices while attempting to live his life to the fullest. It's described as a dark comedy and has an impressive ensemble cast with Rosemarie DeWitt, Ron Livingston, Zoey Deutch, Danny Huston, Justine Warrington, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, Kaitlyn Bernard, Odessa Young, and Matreya Scarrwener. This seems like an odd role for Depp to take, but he's been staying out of the spotlight anyway, so why not an indie film. Just doesn't look that great. Here's the first official trailer for Wayne Roberts' The Professor, direct from YouTube (via People): Johnny Depp delivers a wickedly funny performance as Richard,...

Stephen King's 1922 Trailer Teases Mike Patton's Spooky Score
Mike Patton at an event for The Place Beyond the Pines (2012)
Netflix has just released the first trailer for their adaptation of Stephen King's novella, 1922, which is set to debut next month. Not only does the trailer look creepy, but it also sounds unsettling, thanks to Mike Patton's fantastic soundtrack that recalls a twisted take on a Hitchcock score. In a recent interview to promote the incredibly successful It, King alerted fans that this adaptation was really special and that it really "creeped" him out when he saw the rough cut. The legendary horror author also mentioned that he couldn't stop thinking about it, which is a good indicator since he basically said the same thing about the big screen adaptation if It.

The first trailer for 1922 comes to us courtesy of the official Netflix YouTube account and it is an uncomfortable two and a half minutes to say the least. Adding to the uneasiness is the original score...

Thomas Jane in Trailer for Yet Another Stephen King Adaptation '1922'
"A woman have to be crazy to leave a nice house like this one." Netflix has debuted an official trailer for yet another Stephen King adaptation this year, this one titled 1922 based on one of his short stories. From director Zak Hilditch, 1922 is about a rancher who wants to kill his wife to make money, and attempts to convince his teenage son to participate. Thomas Jane stars, and the cast includes Molly Parker, Neal McDonough, Brian d'Arcy James, Dylan Schmid, and Kaitlyn Bernard. This joins the growing list of Stephen King adaptations in 2017, including The Dark Tower, It, Netflix's Gerald's Game, and "The Mist" TV series. This film looks like it has some style, and is as dark and twisted as everything from King's mind. Here's the first official trailer for Zak Hilditch's 1922, direct from Netflix's YouTube: "Life is rarely fair." A simple yet proud rancher in the year...

Netflix Releases First Haunting Trailer For Their Film Adaptation of Stephen King's 1922 with Thomas Jane
Netflix produced a film adaptation of Stephen King's novella 1922 and today they've released the first trailer. The movie stars Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) and it looks like a freakin' great and creepy movie! I don't know why, but I was surprised by this trailer and how good the movie looks. I'm super excited about seeing this! If you're not familiar with the story, here's the synopsis:

1922 is based on Stephen King's 131-page story telling of a man's confession of his wife's murder. The tale is told from the perspective of Wilfred James, the story's unreliable narrator who admits to killing his wife, Arlette, with his son in Nebraska. Stephen King Was Seriously Creeped Out by Netflix's 1922
Stephen King at an event for The Manchurian Candidate (2004)
Netflix's 1922 is an adaptation of Stephen King's short novella of the same name from the Full Dark, No Stars collection and the legendary author is claiming that the rough cut that he saw of the movie is "super creepy" and that it "won't leave his mind." Netflix quietly announced that the adaptation of 1922 was underway in November of last year and that the project would be helmed by Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours) and star Thomas Jane (The Punisher, The Mist) and Molly Parker (The Road) with Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D'Arcy James, and Neal McDonough. The project is apparently near completion and even in the rough-cut stage, it has Stephen King's seal of approval.

Thomas Jane & Molly Parker to Play Key Roles in Netflix’s Movie Adaptation of Stephen King’s 1922
Thomas Jane is no stranger to bringing Stephen King's written works to life onscreen. Having already appeared as David Drayton in The Mist and Henry in Dreamcatcher, Jane will next play Wilfred James, a husband with a dark secret in Netflix's movie adaptation of King's novella 1922.

According to THR, Jane will be joined by Molly Parker as Wilfred's wife, Arlette, in 1922, which is filming in Vancouver with Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours) behind the camera, directing from a script he wrote based on King's haunting tale of family murder and vengeance from beyond the grave. 1922 was published as one of four novellas in King's 2010 story collection, Full Dark, No Stars.

THR reveals that the cast also includes Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James, and Neal McDonough, with Ross M. Dinerstein on board as a producer.

Thomas Jane Set to Star in Stephen King’s 1922 Supernatural Murder Thriller
Thomas Jane and Molly Parker are set to star in Netflix’s film adaptation of Stephen King’s novella 1922. This will be the third Stephen King film that Jane has starred in. Jane is playing Wilfred James and Parker is taking on the role of Arlette. They will be joined by Dylan Schmid,...

Eventually, he begins to believe that killer rats and the ghost of his wife are stalking him, which just makes things worse.

Jane will play the guy, Wilfred James, with Molly Parker plaing his wife. Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James, and Neal McDonough will also appear. This is Netflix’s second Stephen ...
