Though Venom: The Last Dance performed a lot better than previous Ssu movies Madame Web and Morbius, it still ended up finishing its theatrical run as the lowest-grossing film of the Venom trilogy.

The Kelly Marcel-directed superhero flick took in just under $140 million domestically and another $333 million from overseas markets for a global total of around $472 million. With a reported budget of around $120 million, this is far from a bad result for Sony Pictures, but it doesn't come close to the $850 million the original Venom made in 2018, and also falls just short of Let There Be Carnage's $500 million.

This was Sony's final Venom movie (supposedly), but the studio is rumoured to have big plans for the villainous Knull and Agent Venom.

More than three years after production initially wrapped on the action movie, Netflix is finally ready to show the world Gareth Evans' Havoc. Two first look images from the hotly-anticipated movie have been released, both showing a grizzled Tom Hardy that means business.

Empire released the first image as part of its "2025 Preview First Look" series, showing Hardy's character Walker restraining a man in what looks to be a bar or nightclub. Netflix debuted the second image on X, which simply features Hardy's Walker pointing a gun directly at the camera. Sony Pictures has released a new TV spot for Venom: The Last Dance, and it gives us a first official look at the team of Symbiotes that assembles towards the end of the movie to battle the Xenophage.

Though some of these Symbiotes are named - Juno Temple's Doctor Payne becomes Agony, for example - others seem to be amalgamations of characters from the comics, or possibly brand-new creations. One does definitely seem to be based on Toxin, however, and the final two appear to be versions of Phage and Lasher.

Michelle Williams' absence in Venom: The Last Dance has finally been explained. Kelly Marcel, who wrote and directed the Venom threequel, recently revealed why there is nary a mention of Williams' Anne Weying in the Marvel superhero movie.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel opened up about how the decision to focus the Venom franchise around Eddie and Venom's relationship during the development of 2021's Let There Be Carnage led to there no longer being a need for Williams' Anne in The Last Dance, especially since most of the movie takes place outside of San Francisco, which is where Anne is based. With Venom: The Last Dance set to hit theaters this weekend, Sony Pictures has released the first couple of clips from the threequel.

The first sees Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) enter a casino, as the symbiote excitedly uses the last of their cash on a slot machine (he doesn't react well to losing). The second clip is a little more revealing, as we learn that Doctor Payne (Juno Temple) has seemingly managed to separate Eddie from his alien pal.

The review embargo for The Last Dance lifted last night, and the critical consensus was not overly positive. Though some are referring to this final instalment in the franchise as the best of the trilogy, the movie has now dropped to 37% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 71 reviews.

This places the movie higher than 2018's Venom (30%), but significantly lower than Let There Be Carnage, which sits at a more respectable 57% on the review aggregator.

The Sony Spider-verse continues with Venom: The Last Dance. Tom Hardy is reprising the role of Eddie Brock / Venom for this sequel, and he is joined in the cast by Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Clark Backo (Letterkenny), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Ejiofor is not playing his Doctor Strange character, Baron Mordo, since the Venom films are set in a different universe than the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Venom: The Last Dance will have you laughing and cheering out loud while also fighting boredom in a strained narrative that feels much longer than its runtime. The Oscar-nominated actor was joined at the Venom: The Last Dance by new franchise stars Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor on Monday night (October 21) at Regal Times Square in New York City.

An image and a brief promo clip from Venom: The Last Dance have leaked online (there's a good chance they're from the same teaser), giving us a new look at the villainous Knull. We also get to hear the God of the Symbiotes speak for the first time.

Possible spoilers ahead.

We're not sure how big a plot point this will be, but Knull is believed to be holding the All-Black the Necrosword in this still.

In the comics, All-Black was an extremely powerful weapon created by Knull and tempered inside the head of the Celestial now known as Knowhere. The sword was imbued with the power to slay gods, and has been wielded by a number of characters, including Gorr the God Butcher.

The new footage is only a few seconds long, but we do get to hear Knull (Andy Serkis) speak for the first time.

Per Tudum, for the week between Oct. 7 and Oct. 13, the sequel to the 2018 Venom entered the charts in the seventh spot with 4.8 million views. This translates into 7.8 million hours viewed, which is exciting for the last entry's prospects.

As Venom: The Last Dance inches closer to its release date, its box office projections continue to worsen. The Sony/Marvel threequel, while still hotly-anticipated, is no longer predicted to break the record for best opening in the franchise.

According to Deadline, Venom: The Last Dance is set for an opening weekend of $70 million when it hits theaters on Oct. 25. That's a massive drop from the $80-$120 million that the Venom threequel was previously tracking towards in late September. The change in box office tracking also comes with an unfortunate franchise record reversal. Under its previous tracking, The Last Dance was set to possibly surpass Venom: Let There Be Carnage's domestic start of $90 million to take the crown for best opening weekend in the franchise. However, with the movie now only set to earn $70 million, that's lower than both Let There Be Carnage and the original Venom movie ($80.2M...

Updated box office tracking is in, and according to Deadline, Sony Pictures' threequel looks set for a $70 million opening weekend when it arrives in theaters on October 25.

While this wouldn't be a bad debut by any means and would still be the second best opening of 2024 for a comic-book feature after Deadpool & Wolverine's $211.4 million (not that there was much in the way of competition out there), it would mark the lowest opening of the franchise. The first Venom took in $80.2 million in 2028, while the more positively-received sequel, 2021's Let There Be Carnage, made $90 million.

Sony Pictures has released a new TV spot for the upcoming Ssu threequel, giving us a first official glimpse of Venomized frog and fish (Vrog and Vish?), along with another look at Venom taking down some goons.

It looks like we will only see these Venomized aquatic creatures in a brief sequence with the Symbiote jumping from host to host, which probably isn't going to be much of an issue for many fans - unless you happen to be more interested in the adventures of Frog Venom than Eddie Brock... which might well be a possibility, come to think of it.
