Apple TV+ is now a significant player in the streaming industry and has successfully competed against established legacy studios like Disney and Warner Bros. Its success can be attributed to its backing of original content across a wide range of genres. From sci-fi dramas like Severance to heartfelt comedies like Ted Lasso and sprawling epic galactic sagas like Foundation, the streamer has dipped its toes in it all.

“I think that ship has sailed,” Andrew Dabb, who served as the last showrunner of Supernatural, admits when it comes to the spinoff that wasn’t picked up, Wayward Sisters. Season 13 of the beloved CW-turned-WB series included a backdoor pilot for the potential spinoff, with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) friends and fellow hunters Jody (Kim Rhodes) and Donna (Briana Buckmaster) and a new generation — Claire (Kathryn Newton), Alex (Katherine Ramdeen), Patience (Clark Backo), and Kaia (Yadira Guevara-Prip). The episode aired in January 2018, then in May of that year, it was announced it would not be moving forward. When we spoke with Andrew Dabb about what could have been in the original series finale ending, if not for Covid shutting down production, we also had to ask about Wayward Sisters — especially once he mentioned that the pilot script he and Robert Berens wrote for it “is really good.

Clark Backo (Venom: The Last Dance), Drew Ray Tanner (“Riverdale”), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), and Graham Verchere (Summer of 84) will star in Split Rock, Variety reports.
Described as “supernatural, ecological-horror story,” the Canadian film is written and directed by Ryan Glover (The Strings).
It follows geologists Lauren (Backo) and Ben (Tanner), partners in both work and life, as they investigate a strange anomaly discovered deep in the terrain. Alongside their colleague Sam (Luccardi) and intern Trevor (Verchere), the group must navigate an escalating series of horrors that starts once they uncover an ancient force of destruction buried in the ground.
Produced by Brian Robertson of Low End, Jefferson Moneo of Prowler Pictures, and Krista Dzialoszynski of Observer Effect Productions, the film is set to begin shooting next week in the Saskatchewan badlands.

The fans want it, the actors involved with both franchises want it, and studio higher-ups at Marvel and Sony have promised that it will happen some day. Even so, after six movies featuring the characters releasing under the Sony Pictures banner over the past few years, we have yet to see Venom and Spider-Man interact on the big screen.
Despite rumors that Tom Hardy and Tom Holland were set to show up in each other's franchises at various points, the closest we've come to any kind of crossover is Eddie Brock getting (briefly) zapped to MCU’s Earth-616 thanks to Doctor Strange’s botched spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
While speaking to The Playlist, Hardy confirmed that there were early plans in place for some kind of Spidey/Venom crossover movie, and it came very close to happening.

“Venom: The Last Dance” is a movie starring Tom Hardy. With Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rhys Ifans. It is directed by Kelly Marcel.
Marvel continues to reign supreme at the box office. Love them or loathe them, these larger-than-life spectacles have become the lifeblood of movie theaters worldwide. And now, swinging into this colorful fray comes “Venom: The Last Dance”, the grand finale of a trilogy that never took itself too seriously.
From the get-go, it’s clear that this film has one mission: to entertain. Much like its predecessors in the Deadpool and Wolverine franchises, “Venom: The Last Dance” wears its sense of humor like a badge of honor. The plot? Well, it’s there, somewhere beneath layers of wisecracks and visual gags. But let’s be honest, we’re not here for Shakespearean storytelling.
At the heart of this chaotic symphony is Venom, who steals the show with his infectious energy.

Venom: The Last Dance arrived on Digital platforms earlier this week and is now available to watch at home. Today, we're delighted to share an exclusive clip from the threequel's featurettes titled "Bonded In Chaos: Tom Hardy."
Exploring the duality of his roles as Eddie Brock and Venom, we hear from Clark Backo (Sadie), Peggy Lu (Mrs. Chen), Rhys Ifans (Martin), and Stephen Graham (Partick Mulligan) on the unique experience of sharing the screen with the actor.
There's also some great behind-the-scenes footage of the Area 51 battle and Eddie and Venom's ill-fated trip to Las Vegas.
It's unclear what the future holds in store for Hardy as Venom; the actor has said repeatedly that this movie was a farewell to the role, while it's been reported that the idea was to shift focus to Agent Venom next.
Those plans may have been scrapped following the reported conclusion of Sony's...

Given Venom 3's reported budget of $120 million, this makes the film a modest success. Though Venom: The Last Dance performed a lot better than previous Ssu movies Madame Web and Morbius, it still ended up finishing its theatrical run as the lowest-grossing film of the Venom trilogy.
The Kelly Marcel-directed superhero flick took in just under $140 million domestically and another $333 million from overseas markets for a global total of around $472 million. With a reported budget of around $120 million, this is far from a bad result for Sony Pictures, but it doesn't come close to the $850 million the original Venom made in 2018, and also falls just short of Let There Be Carnage's $500 million.
This was Sony's final Venom movie (supposedly), but the studio is rumoured to have big plans for the villainous Knull and Agent Venom.

Knull, the presumed arch-villain of Sony's Spider-Man Universe, could have been a lot more terrifying in Venom: The Last Dance if he looked a little more similar to the recently revealed concept art. Knull is the eldritch god of darkness and one of Marvel's most genuinely terrifying villains in both appearance and power. Unfortunately, he remained off-screen for most of the movie - though audiences were granted a slightly clearer look at Andy Serkis' villain in the post-credits scene for Venom: The Last Dance, which also teased his return in the future.
Concept artist Karl Lindberg recently unveiled original concept art for Knull on ArtStation (shared by TheVenomSite on X), proving that his face reveal at the end of Venom: The Last Dance could have been a lot more terrifying. The art introduces a lot more red to Knull's color scheme as he sits on a throne that evokes...

2024 has produced a few movies which critics and audiences can't seem to agree on, and their Rotten Tomatoes scores highlight the way they have split opinion. Rotten Tomatoes gives two scores to a movie. The "Tomatometer" score measures critical opinions based on published reviews, while the newly-revamped "Popcornmeter" score offers a way for audiences to log their own opinions. It's often the case that these two scores are very close to one another, but a few movies break the system.
More often that not, if there's a big difference between a Tomatomer score and a Popcornmeter score, it's because a movie is a simple crowdpleaser that critics don't care for. Critics are more focused on the craft of a movie and the ideas behind it. Many people also think like this, of course, but the majority of the public rate a movie based on how entertaining it is. More than three years after production initially wrapped on the action movie, Netflix is finally ready to show the world Gareth Evans' Havoc. Two first look images from the hotly-anticipated movie have been released, both showing a grizzled Tom Hardy that means business.
Empire released the first image as part of its "2025 Preview First Look" series, showing Hardy's character Walker restraining a man in what looks to be a bar or nightclub. Netflix debuted the second image on X, which simply features Hardy's Walker pointing a gun directly at the camera. A brief synopsis for Havoc was also shared by the streamer and reads as follows: "After a drug deal gone wrong, a detective fights his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician's son unraveling a web of corruption and conspiracy ensnaring his entire city." Venom: The Last Dance may not have made as big a splash at the box office as the previous movies in the franchise, but the final part of Sony Pictures' trilogy is proving difficult to knock off the top spot.
The Last Dance took in $16.2 million from 3,905 North American theaters, which was enough to fend off competition from A24’s horror thriller Heretic and Lionsgate’s family friendly The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
The studio's latest Ssu movie - which sits at 41% on Rotten Tomatoes - has now grossed $279.4 million overseas and $394.2 million globally on a relatively modest budget of $120 million.
This might well be the last Venom movie, but a recent rumor claimed that Sony is developing an Agent Venom film.
In the comics, Agent Venom was Peter Parker's former bully turned friend Eugene "Flash" Thompson, who bonded with the Venom Symbiote after losing his legs in service of his country.

It is the sequel to the 2021 movie Let There Be Carnage and the third film in the Venom trilogy. Venom: The Last Dance is currently making waves at the box office, but a fourth film in the movie franchise has not been confirmed yet. As of right now, the film is living up to its title, serving as the final appearance for Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock aka Venom. However, it seems that Sony is not done with the anti-hear just yet, as a new Marvel rumor suggests that Agent Venom is the next film in the franchise.
According to Daniel Richtman, Sony is developing an Agent Venom film in the wake of the final installment of the Venom trilogy starring Tom Hardy. Of course, this is only a rumor and should be stressed as such. However, considering the studio is always looking to make more Spider-Man-related films, continuing to cash in on their most successful Marvel franchise makes a lot of sense. Agent Venom would be a natural continuation of the storyline too,...

Sony Pictures made it clear that Venom: The Last Dance would be the final part of a trilogy, and while the movie did appear to wrap-up Eddie Brock and his Symbiote pal's story, we may now know how the studio is planning to keep the franchise going.
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, an Agent Venom movie is in development.
In the comics, Agent Venom was Peter Parker's former bully turned friend Eugene "Flash" Thompson, who bonded with the Venom Symbiote after losing his legs in service of his country. Tony Revolori currently plays Flash in the Spider-Man movies, but The Last Dance may have given us some idea of how Sony intends to introduce a whole new take on the character.
If you haven't seen Venom: The Last Dance yet, be warned of major spoilers from this point on.

As for Venom: The Last Dance, we have written several times how the movie has been having a difficult run since its premiere. The critics panned it, the fans praised it, and while it has surpassed its initial budget, the domestic total is still very low and the film is relying on the international markets to save it.

Sony Pictures has released a new TV spot for Venom: The Last Dance, and it gives us a first official look at the team of Symbiotes that assembles towards the end of the movie to battle the Xenophage.
Though some of these Symbiotes are named - Juno Temple's Doctor Payne becomes Agony, for example - others seem to be amalgamations of characters from the comics, or possibly brand-new creations. One does definitely seem to be based on Toxin, however, and the final two appear to be versions of Phage and Lasher.
Check out the new teaser below.
The review embargo for The Last Dance lifted last week, and the critical consensus was not overly positive. Though some are referring to this final instalment in the franchise as the best of the trilogy, the movie held at 37% on Rotten Tomatoes for a while before rising to 39% based on 158 reviews.

When Venom: The Last Dance shredded the box office competition on October 25, 2024, ardent and casual fans wondered why former franchise stalwart Michelle Williams was suddenly absent from the trilogy capper. After starring as Eddie Brock's (Tom Hardy) former fianc and defense lawyer Anne Weying, Williams departed the Sony superhero franchise before it ended, leading to Juno Temple's casting as Dr. Teddy Paine.
Although critics were unkind to The Last Dance, droves of fans flocked to see the final Venom movie, which puts an amusing exclamation mark on the deadly alien symbiote's time in the Sony Spider-Man Universe. As Peter Parker prepares for the next chapter in the Spider-Man Universe, discovering what happened to Anne Weying and understanding why Michelle Williams left the franchise will give fans a modicum of closure.

Venom: The Last Dance didn't receive the warmest of responses from many critics heading into the weekend but, for the most part, fans do appear to have had a good time with the Sony Pictures threequel.
During the final act, the Lethal Protector finds himself teaming up with several Symbiotes in a bid to fend off the invading Xenophage. It's an edge-of-your-seat, action-packed sequence but are those aliens based on characters from the comic books? Yes and no.
In this feature, we're revealing the most likely identity of each Symbiote and ranking them from worst to best. That's based on what they bring to the table in Venom: The Last Dance and their sheer level of badassery.
You can read through this breakdown and ranking by clicking on the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

It might still be uncertain what Venom: The Last Dance will earn at the box office in North America, but it is definitely doing well in Korea. Venom 3 was released in Korea a few days before it came out in the United States or other parts of the world. This Tom Hardy-led movie maintained its top spot in Korea and is eyeing a decent opening in the nation. Scroll below for the deets.
The latest movie will also introduce Knull, the creator of the Symbiotes and Venom. The movie was made on an estimated budget of $110 million and is expected to recover more than 55% of its production budget. The Marvel movie has received negative reviews but still has a chance of being a success at the box office. However, the recent failure of Joker 2 might make moviegoers a little skeptical about it.

Sony Music Masterworks today announces the release of Venom: The Last Dance (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with music by composer Dan Deacon.
Available everywhere now, the album features an original score composed by Deacon for the final film in the Sony Pictures Venom trilogy. Combining dynamic, emotional orchestral movements with bold, action-packed synthesized sequences, Deacon’s score is the perfect musical accompaniment to the final chapter of the franchise. Venom: The Last Dance debuts in theaters nationwide today from Sony Pictures – tickets here.
Of the score, Dan Deacon says, “Comic books were core part of my childhood and some of my fondest memories of being a kid. I was 7 and an avid comic collector when Venom first appeared. I got immediately obsessed with him and the symbiote backstory. Returning bottles and cans for 5¢ each, I saved money to collect as many earlier appearances and key books as I could get my hands on,...

Plot: Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote pal Venom are on the run following the events of the last film being pursued by adversaries that are both human and not.
Review: Let’s face it – the Venom series has never exactly been a critical darling. Done on a relatively modest scale for Sony’s Spider-Verse and shackled by a PG-13 rating, this Tom Hardy-led franchise has, surprisingly enough, printed money for its home studio. While they’ve never risen above modest, turn-your-brain-off B-movie fare, they’ve been much better than other live-action Spider-verse offerings like Madame Web and Morbius. With this billed as The Last Dance for the character at Sony, does this short-lived franchise end on a high?
Here’s the thing – if you dug the other Venom movies, you’ll probably get a kick out of this one. It’s unapologetically a low-stakes superhero movie, reminiscent...

Directed by Kelly Marcel, Venom 3 was released in theatres on October 24, 2024. There remained decent hype around the film after the much-talked-about Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Unfortunately, the 2021 sequel was a flop at the Indian box office. Fans were hoping for good content and a moment of redemption, but it is going to be a difficult feat.

Michelle Williams' absence in Venom: The Last Dance has finally been explained. Kelly Marcel, who wrote and directed the Venom threequel, recently revealed why there is nary a mention of Williams' Anne Weying in the Marvel superhero movie.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel opened up about how the decision to focus the Venom franchise around Eddie and Venom's relationship during the development of 2021's Let There Be Carnage led to there no longer being a need for Williams' Anne in The Last Dance, especially since most of the movie takes place outside of San Francisco, which is where Anne is based. "We wanted to take them away from everything they knew and everyone they loved, so that they really only had each other to rely on now," said Marcel about why they didn't bring back Williams. "We knew that we wanted them to reach symbiosis with each...

With Venom: The Last Dance set to hit theaters this weekend, Sony Pictures has released the first couple of clips from the threequel.
The first sees Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) enter a casino, as the symbiote excitedly uses the last of their cash on a slot machine (he doesn't react well to losing). The second clip is a little more revealing, as we learn that Doctor Payne (Juno Temple) has seemingly managed to separate Eddie from his alien pal.
The review embargo for The Last Dance lifted last night, and the critical consensus was not overly positive. Though some are referring to this final instalment in the franchise as the best of the trilogy, the movie has now dropped to 37% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 71 reviews.
This places the movie higher than 2018's Venom (30%), but significantly lower than Let There Be Carnage, which sits at a more respectable 57% on the review aggregator.

The Sony Spider-verse continues with Venom: The Last Dance. Tom Hardy is reprising the role of Eddie Brock / Venom for this sequel, and he is joined in the cast by Juno Temple (Ted Lasso), Clark Backo (Letterkenny), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Ejiofor is not playing his Doctor Strange character, Baron Mordo, since the Venom films are set in a different universe than the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. Temple plays a scientist who is doing research on the symbiotes, while Ejiofor leads a team to hunt down Brock and Venom as they are now on the run from authorities.

Venom: The Last Dance will have you laughing and cheering out loud while also fighting boredom in a strained narrative that feels much longer than its runtime. The third and supposedly final installment of the alien symbiote Spider-Man spin-off can best be described as a mixed bag of Halloween goodies. There's a handful of plodding candy corn scenes for every delightful Snickers bar moment. Your level of Venom fandom will decide how much latitude to give the film.
We catch up with Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom, also voiced by Hardy through a modulator, in the same situation at the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. They're still on the run in Mexico while jumping through alternate universes. Eddie and Venom complain to a befuddled bartender (Cristo Fernndez) about their situation. Venom also explains the secret origin of the symbiotes and their true reason for fleeing to other worlds.

An image and a brief promo clip from Venom: The Last Dance have leaked online (there's a good chance they're from the same teaser), giving us a new look at the villainous Knull. We also get to hear the God of the Symbiotes speak for the first time.

Venom will return with the final installment in the trilogy, Venom: The Last Dance, on Oct. 25. However, until then, fans are getting reacquainted with Eddie Brock and his symbiote counterpart's adventures by rewatching the first installments, which led to a debut on Netflix's charts.
Ahead of the threequel's release, Sony also made the smart move to make Venom 2 available worldwide on Netflix, where it's enjoying a lot of popularity. Per Tudum, for the week between Oct. 7 and Oct. 13, the sequel to the 2018 Venom entered the charts in the seventh spot with 4.8 million views. This translates into 7.8 million hours viewed, which is exciting for the last entry's prospects.

Star Tom Hardy had previously teased that the movie could end up being rated R, pointing to the success of the Deadpool films as proof that R-rated Marvel adaptations can be successful, but obviously that wasn’t to be. As Venom: The Last Dance inches closer to its release date, its box office projections continue to worsen. The Sony/Marvel threequel, while still hotly-anticipated, is no longer predicted to break the record for best opening in the franchise.
According to Deadline, Venom: The Last Dance is set for an opening weekend of $70 million when it hits theaters on Oct. 25. That's a massive drop from the $80-$120 million that the Venom threequel was previously tracking towards in late September. The change in box office tracking also comes with an unfortunate franchise record reversal. Under its previous tracking, The Last Dance was set to possibly surpass Venom: Let There Be Carnage's domestic start of $90 million to take the crown for best opening weekend in the franchise. However, with the movie now only set to earn $70 million, that's lower than both Let There Be Carnage and the original Venom movie ($80.2M...

Despite negative reviews and a mixed response from the majority of comic book fans, the previous Venom movies both performed very well at the box office. Could the final instalment in the trilogy, this month's Venom: The Last Dance, buck the trend?
Updated box office tracking is in, and according to Deadline, Sony Pictures' threequel looks set for a $70 million opening weekend when it arrives in theaters on October 25.
While this wouldn't be a bad debut by any means and would still be the second best opening of 2024 for a comic-book feature after Deadpool & Wolverine's $211.4 million (not that there was much in the way of competition out there), it would mark the lowest opening of the franchise. The first Venom took in $80.2 million in 2028, while the more positively-received sequel, 2021's Let There Be Carnage, made $90 million.
We really don't see Venom 3 flopping given the popularity of the earlier movies, but if it underperforms,...

If you thought that horse from the trailer would be the only animal that gets taken over by the Symbiote in Venom: The Last Dance, think again!
Sony Pictures has released a new TV spot for the upcoming Ssu threequel, giving us a first official glimpse of Venomized frog and fish (Vrog and Vish?), along with another look at Venom taking down some goons.
It looks like we will only see these Venomized aquatic creatures in a brief sequence with the Symbiote jumping from host to host, which probably isn't going to be much of an issue for many fans - unless you happen to be more interested in the adventures of Frog Venom than Eddie Brock... which might well be a possibility, come to think of it.
Check out the new teaser along with some other recent promotional material at the links below.

The final trailer for Sony Pictures' Venom: The Last Dance dropped the surprising reveal that Knull is going to be introduced in the threequel. Though the character's face was obscured, recent rumors have claimed that Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings; Black Panther) will take on the role via motion-capture.
Sony/Marvel are believed to have big plans for this powerful villain going forward, but what can we expect from his big-screen debut?
According to Mttsh... not very much!
The scooper is reporting that The God of the Symbiotes won't have a significant role in Venom 3. In fact, Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) won't even encounter the character in the movie. Knull will appear in a couple of scenes in space (possibly imprisoned on Klyntar), and will also be a part of the post-credits scene.
Details on the stinger are sparse, but there are whispers that it could lay...

The actor who has reportedly been cast as the villainous Knull in Venom: The Last Dance was revealed last night, and we may now know how he will bring the character to life on screen.
Since this is something the studio may be attempting to keep under wraps until the movie is in theaters, we're still being careful about (potential) spoilers.
According to Daniel Richtman and several other online scoopers, Knull will played by none other than Andy Serkis.
Serkis - who directed Venom: Let There Be Carnage - is "expected to reprise the role in future Sony/Marvel projects, which means we could be seeing a whole lot more of Knull." This gels with previous rumors that Knull will be the main villain of Spider-Man 4, with Venom (Tom Hardy) joining forces with Peter Parker (Tom Holland) to battle the potentially world-ending threat.

The recent final trailer for Sony Pictures' Venom: The Last Dance revealed that the threequel would introduce the villainous Knull, and fans have been speculating about who might be stepping into the role since.
A persistent rumor claimed that The Walking Dead alum Norman Reedus had been cast as Knull, but we may now know which actor will actually bring life to the powerful God of the Symbiotes.
This is something the studio may be attempting to keep under wraps until the movie is in theaters, so with this in mind, possible spoilers follow.
According to Daniel Richtman (other scoopers have since backed this up), Knull will played by none other than the King of Motion Capture himself, Andy Serkis!

Despite mostly negative reviews, the Venom movies performed very well at the box office, and it looks like Sony Pictures' trilogy-capper, Venom: The Last Dance, might end up being an even bigger success than both previous instalments.
According to BoxOfficePro.com's long-range forecasts, Venom 3 could be looking at a domestic opening weekend in the $80M – $120M range. There's obviously a lot of room between those numbers, but should The Last Dance's debut come in on the higher end, it will surpass its predecessor's openings and could potentially claim one of the best box office bow's of 2024.
Recent rumors have claimed that Spider-Man 4 will feature both Venom and the villainous Knull, but could we see Tom Holland's Spidey swing by in The Last Dance to set things up? We don't have anything too concrete to go on, but a couple of internet scoopers have dropped some not-so subtle...
