Viola Davis’s upcoming feature “G20” is set to premiere on Prime Video this spring, Variety can confirm.

Directed by Patricia Riggen, the action thriller stars the Academy Award winner as U.S. President Danielle Sutton, who becomes the target of an attack at the annual G20 world leaders summit.

“After evading capture by the attackers, Sutton must outsmart the enemy to protect her family, defend her country and safeguard world leaders,” reads the logline.

The film will bow on Prime Video across 240 territories globally on April 10.

Joining Davis on screen are Anthony Anderson as Derek Sutton, Marsai Martin as Serena Sutton, Ramón Rodríguez as Agent Manny Ruiz, Douglas Hodge as Oliver Everett, Elizabeth Marvel as Joanna Worth, Sabrina Impacciatore as Elena Romano, Christopher Farrar as Demetrius Sutton and Antony Starr as Rutledge.

“G20” was penned by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss and Logan Miller and Noah Miller, with story by the Millers.

As reported by Deadline, Academy Award winner Viola Davis has announced her decision to step away from the upcoming action/thriller project, G20 amid the actors and writers ongoing strikes. Though the film was granted the SAG-AFTRA waiver which allowed the movie to keep going with production, the Egot winner made it clear that she wasn't comfortable continue to work on G20 at this time.

The Patricia Riggen directed action thriller follows President Taylor Sutton (played by Davis) as she uses her statecraft and military experience to protect her family, fellow leaders, and the rest of the world after terrorists take over the G20 Summit.

The film was written by Noah and Logan Miller (with revisions done by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss). Producers for the upcoming film include Andrew Lazar (via Mad Chance) Davis, and Julius Tennon (via JuVee).

Viola Davis is backing away from “G20” in a move that may put pressure on other A-listers.

The Egot winner says she’s stepping away from the project even after the film got the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement necessary to start production.

“I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike,” said the 57-year-old in a statement obtained by Et. “I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”

On Friday, SAG-AFTRA shared via its website that “G20” was approved for a waiver. Davis was set to produce and star in the film that secured the go-ahead from the actors guild, even given the involvement of Amazon Studios, because the project hails from the non AMPTP-affiliated MRC and will only be distributed by Amazon.
