Exclusive: MPI Original Films and BET have added to the cast of their feature Kemba, inspired by the life of criminal justice reform advocate Kemba Smith, with Michelle Hurd (Star Trek: Picard), Sean Patrick Thomas (Till), Siddiq Saunderson (Wu-Tang: An American Saga) and June Carryl (Helstrom) signing on for roles. Nesta Cooper will lead the cast of the film directed by Kelley Kali, which is currently shooting in Atlanta, as previously announced.

The upcoming film follows Kemba (Cooper) as a young college student who falls in love with a man, only to learn he is a drug kingpin who leads her down a path of abuse and manipulation, placing her in the middle of the government’s “war on drugs,” and ultimately landing her in federal prison. While Hurd and Thomas will play Kemba’s loving parents Odessa and Gus, details as to Saunderson and Carryl’s roles haven’t been disclosed.

Exclusive: Emmy winner Michael Chiklis and Kyle Schmid are set to star opposite Bruce Willis in the crime thriller, 10 Minutes Gone, which Brian A. Miller will direct from a script by Kelvin Mao and Jeff Jingle. The pic marks the first project since MoviePass parent company Helios & Matheson Analytics acquired Emmett Furla Oasis Films to launch MoviePass Films.

Set to go before cameras next month in Ohio, the plot follows a man who loses ten minutes of his memory due to being hit by a stray bullet during a bank heist gone wrong. He must put the pieces of his broken memory together in order to find out who sabotaged the job and took the money, all while being pursued by a powerful crime boss hellbent on recovering the cash.

Meadow Williams, Swen Temmel, Sergio Rizzuto and Tyler Jon Olson were previously announced as part of the cast.

Bruce Willis Set to Star in MoviePass Films' Mystery Crime Thriller 10 Minutes Gone
While MoviePass is still trying to figure out how to keep their movie subscription service alive, their film division, MoviePass Film, is moving forward with a new film project called 10 Minutes Gone and Bruce Willis is set to star in it.

The story follows a man "who loses ten minutes of his memory due to being hit by a stray bullet during a bank heist gone wrong. He must put the pieces of his broken memory together in order to find out who sabotaged the job and took the money, all while being pursued by a powerful crime boss hellbent on recovering the cash."

Willis will take on the role of the pissed off crime boss. In a statement, Willis said that he's “excited to be working with producers Randall Emmett and George Furla again with their new venture MoviePass Films.”

The film will be directed by Brian A. Miller...

In the midst of financial struggles and constant changes to its service, MoviePass announced Tuesday that its new film production wing, MoviePass Films, will start production on “10 Minutes Gone,” an action thriller starring Bruce Willis.

This will be the first film produced by the new studio, which was created after MoviePass acquired Emmett Furla Oasis Films (Efo) back in May. MoviePass’ parent company, Helios & Matheson, holds 51 percent of MoviePass films with Efo holding the remainder. MoviePass is hoping to use its ticket subscription service to promote its films to subscribers.

Exclusive: MoviePass Films CEOs and Co-Founders Randall Emmett, George Furla, and Ted Farnsworth have set Bruce Willis to star in 10 Minutes Gone, the first production start since MoviePass parent company Helios & Matheson Analytics acquired Emmett Furla Oasis Films to launch MoviePass Films as a subsidiary to its struggling ticket sales business.

Brian A. Miller will direct a script from Kelvin Mao and Jeff Jingle. Also starring is Meadow Williams who recently completed filming on Boss Level, opposite Mel Gibson and Naomi Watts, and After. It marks the fourth collaboration between Emmett, Furla, and Williams.

Swen Temmel, Sergio Rizzuto and Tyler Jon Olson round out the cast with more coming for a September 10 start date in Ohio. This will mark the third project for MoviePass Films after the mobster drama Gotti starring John Travolta and sorority thriller The Row starring Randy Couture and Lala Kent.
