Netflix has been offering high-quality original movies on its streaming site for almost ten years now. Back in 2015, the streaming site started strong with the captivating drama, Beasts of No Nation. Now, Netflix originals have won 23 Academy Awards and some have even earned cult status, such as 2023's excellent sci-fi thriller, They Cloned Tyrone.
Of course, not all Netflix original movies are received with such a warm welcome. There are plenty of films offered exclusively on the streaming site that have earned the dreaded "rotten" status on Rotten Tomatoes. Arguably, the reviews of these movies aren't entirely accurate. Each of these movies may be a little better than their Rotten Tomatoes splat status makes them seem.
Like Father Is a Sweet Dramedy With Lovable Moments Rotten Tomatoes Score: 48%

Rachel (Kristen Bell) is doubly surprised at her wedding in the dramedy, Like Father.

It appears that Season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” has achieved not only the series’ highest viewership ever, but the highest of the entire “Real Housewives” franchise since 2014, according to Multiplatform + 35 data.
The first 16 episodes of Season 13 averaged 4 million viewers across 35 days of Bravo and Peacock viewership. Episodes 17-20 have yet to hit the 35-day mark, but performed strongly according to same-day data, outpacing several of the preceding episodes. Assuming the 35-day average remains at or above 4 million when the final four episodes are tallied, this puts Season 13 above every single “Real Housewives” season since 2014, when “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” concluded its sixth season.
Of those 4 million average “Beverly Hills” viewers, 2 million fall within the adults 18-49 demographic.

X, the company formerly known as Twitter, has been at pains to lure back advertisers who deserted the platform in droves after Elon Musk‘s takeover, slashing the site’s revenue in the process. Last month, the company even rolled out expanded features for brands, including tools to help keep their ads away from undesirable content like hate speech.
But those measures have proven wildly ineffective so far, at least where one major ad partner — the NFL — is concerned. Reports from Media Matters reveal that X has been serving the...

This year's Super Bowl had its fair share of explosive moments, but it also featured a bold statement from Eminem. The "Lose Yourself" rapper performed his anthem song for the halftime show - which featured Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent - alongside Anderson .Paak, and during his part of the set, Eminem took a knee in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Just before the matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals went down, reports shared that Eminem kneeling went against the NFL's wishes as they previously turned down his request. But NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy later denied those claims, stating the league already knew of the rapper's protest. "We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that," he said.

National Football League fans who merely want to watch a football game this year will again have social justice messages as part of the package prominently displayed on the field.
While some leagues, notably the National Basketball Association, plan to dial back on politics for their coming season, the NFL is doubling down on its plans for its upcoming regular season, which starts Sept. 9.
That’s even as its television ratings dipped in 2020, the first time in three years the regular season audience was down. Still, the NFL managed to break records when its TV contracts were up for renewal in the off-season., topping the $100 billion mark and adding Amazon to its mix.

"You aren't trying hard enough, Maxwell!" Gravitas Ventures has released an official trailer for Songs for a Sloth, the feature debut of music video director Bradley Hasse. He devises a crazy scheme to make a music for a sloth fundraiser. The indie dramedy stars Richard Hollman, Ava Eisenson, Brian McCarthy, with Arian Moayad. Amazon is under fire for allegedly passing off an old waffle maker as new that had clearly used. Not only that, but the waffle maker came with crusty batter all over the inside of the appliance, and it looks like a real-life horror movie. Brian McCarthy's young daughter opened the Amazon package, which was a Christmas gift from her grandmother late last month. The gift in question was supposed to be a new mini-Babycakes brand waffle maker. However, the appliance did not come as advertised.

A federal lawsuit alleges that NBCUniversal, the National Football League, and recording artist Carrie Underwood are among those who plagiarized a YouTube song to create the Sunday Night Football opening theme song “Game On” that precedes the athletic action. Snf is typically one of the primetime ratings leaders during its season and a bright spot for the televised NFL games.
The lawsuit was filed in the Us District Court for the Southern District of New York by songwriters Heidi Merrill, Alex Wong, Jeff Cohen and Niclas Lundin, who claim they created a slightly different version of the Sunday Night Football theme song performed by Underwood. Read the complaint here.
The lawsuit also names various Underwood-affiliated music publishers and her recording company, as well as songwriters Chris DeStefano, Brett James and Underwood producer Mark Bright.

Stars: Kristen Bell, Danielle Davenport, Kimiko Glenn, Wynter Kullman, Kelsey Grammer, Brett Gelman, Jon Foster, Elisabeth Ness, Brian McCarthy, Keilly McQuail, Jen Zaborowski, Brittany Ross | Written and Directed by Lauren Miller
Lauren Miller’s directorial debut, Like Father, fits well into the canonical fatigue of the Netflix original, a harsh and sadly true statement that any film on the platform is becoming tainted with. Like Father, I hate to say, is almost certainly dead on arrival with so little intrigue or adhesive to even have a questionable release, made even more disappointing with the talent that’s castrated and simplified in a plot so numb and saturated, you can piece the jigsaw and surprise your friends as a psychic, within seconds.
To describe Miller’s film as simple would be somewhat an understatement. It is to be fair, a constraint of every grain of flair possible with zero ounces of originality within its bones.
