Every new season of Black Mirror launches a feverish debate over which episode was the best. Emmy voters gave three consecutive Best TV Movie awards to "San Junipero" (2017), "USS Callister" (2018), and "Bandersnatch" (2019), but how does the entire fandom rate the best and worst installments? We've consulted the cumulative IMDb scores for all seasons and have come up with the definitive ranking of Black Mirror episodes. Can you guess the No. 1 choice?
Season 7 was released in April 2025 and brought the total number of episodes and specials to 34. Created by Charlie Brooker, the sci-fi anthology series began on the U.K.'s Channel 4 in 2011 before moving to Netflix (and becoming a worldwide phenomenon) in 2016. The show took a four-year break after Season 5, thanks in part to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, but that just gave people even more time to relive their favorite episodes from the beginning.

Season 7 of Black Mirror dropped April 10 on Netflix after a two-year break. English showrunner Charlie Brooker wrote or cowrote all of the episodes, as usual. He's a five-time Emmy winner for writing and producing "San Junipero" in 2017, writing and producing "USS Callister" in 2018, and producing "Bandersnatch" in 2019. He received a sixth career Emmy nomination last year for writing "Joan Is Awful," but lost to Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer).
Speaking of "Bandersnatch" and "USS Callister," Season 7 marks the first time Black Mirror has revisited previous storylines in the form of cameo and a sequel, respectively. Will Poulter's computer programmer character Colin Ritman was featured in the interactive "Bandersnatch" and now returns with a small role in "Plaything." Meanwhile, "USS Callister: Into Infinity" is a full-on sequel to the original outer space installment, with Cristin Milioti and Jimmi Simpson reprising their crew members of the titular starship.

Unlike the previous season, which had five episodes, Black Mirror season 7 will feature one additional episode, bringing the total to six episodes. Tad the Explorer – aka Tad Stones the Chicago bricklayer – is onto his third adventure in new Enrique Gato feature, Tad the Lost Explorer and the Curse of the Mummy (or Tad the Lost Explorer and the Emerald Tablet in some regions) and is as accident-prone as ever as he tries to gain acceptance into the upper echelons of archaeological circles.
Indeed, we first see Tad (voiced by Trevor White) making a major discovery on a dig in Mexico led by the University of Chicago’s archaeological department which (naturally) all ends in disaster. Expelled from the site and leaving ever patient girlfriend Sara (Alex Kelly) behind, a crestfallen Tad returns home to decomposing old friend Mummy (Joseph Balderrama) who is as addicted to gadgets and social media as any youth is today (parents/guardians unite in rolling their collective eyes to the cinema ceiling in weary recognition here). An effective horror keeps you unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows. The less you know about what’s coming the better because you don’t want to end up spending your time guessing how the problem will be solved when you should be experiencing its escalating terror. This means filmmakers won’t be able to rely on jump scares to wake audience members up, a staple in mainstream Hollywood genre fare wanting everything spelled out in lieu of atmospheric tension that builds its mythos as it progresses. The task then falls to indie artists with the creative freedom to place their vision onscreen regardless of bottom-line concessions. They can afford to scare with what’s not made visible as opposed to that which is manipulated to shock with brute force.

"It's pushing through." "What is?" "Something big." A full-length trailer has debuted for a new indie horror film called Unnerved, written and directed by Gary King, an up-and-coming filmmaker who is a friend of this site. The film is about a couple whose child is killed but they still feel his presence. They flee to a remote lake house to escape the unrelenting haunting following them, but (of course) learn that it's still very much with them. Starring Katie Morrison, Mark Diconzo, Elena Sanz and Marty Lang. This looks like it's having fun with the typical horror tropes rather than repeating them, but it's hard to tell where it's all going. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Gary King's Unnerved, direct from YouTube: Whatever killed their son continues to haunt Mallory and Frank no matter which place they go. While hiding out at a remote lake house, Mallory struggles...

Here at The Film Stage we welcome the opportunity to highlight the work of filmmakers who embody the Diy spirit and leverage social media in order to garner a supportive audience. These type of creative people tend to be endlessly passionate about not just making the films they want to, but sharing their experiences making them. Gary King, who may be a familiar name to some, embodies these strengths as a true independent filmmaker and we’ve highlighted his impressive feature film work before from the New York drama What’s Up Lovely to his successful musical How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song?.
King has recently completed a new horror film entitled Unnerved, starring Mark Diconzo, Katie Morrison and Elena Sanz. The story follows a couple who flee to a remote lake house before discovering a mysterious entity that haunts them from their past. We’re now premiering...

Here's the teaser trailer for a creepy looking indie horror thriller called Unnerved. The movie is being directed by Gary King, and it stars Mark Diconzo, Katie Morrison, and Elena Sanz. They are currently seeking funds via Kickstarter to finish post-production on the film. It looks like it could be a decent horror movie, and here's the synopsis:
After the mysterious death of their young son, a couple desperately flees to a remote lake house to escape the unrelenting haunting that is following them only to discover that this mysterious entity is still very much a part of their lives.

There are a great number of talented people working in the world of independent filmmaking today, and writer / director Gary King is one of them. I had the pleasure of reviewing his last film How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song and subsequently speaking with both him and star / producer Christina Rose. King's new film Unnerved has been made on a very low budget with a crew of only five people. He has reteamed with actor Mark Diconzo (whose performance in Joe Schermann Song impressed me greatly), and the rest of the small cast includes newcomer Katie Morrison and Elena Sanz (Radio London Movie). Consumed by grief after the bizarre death of their young son, Mallory and Frank find their marriage on the verge...

No words needed - all the visuals do the trick in this teaser. An early teaser trailer has debuted via The Film Stage for the eerie new horror film from indie writer/director Gary King, titled Unnerved, starring Katie Morrison, Elena Sanz and Mark Diconzo. This trailer has an old school horror vibe to it, inspired by the likes of Poltergeist and Scanners, with an eerie feeling behind all the footage. Despite running only a minute in length, there's some very unnerving shots in this. This could be cool, give it a chance if this kind of atmospheric horror is your jam. And help them out on Kickstarter once you've seen the teaser. View below. Here's the first teaser trailer for Gary King's Unnerved, originally from The Film Stage on YouTube: After the mysterious death of their young son, a couple desperately flees to a remote lake house to escape...
