Cody Ward was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1992. At an early age he was fascinated by the arts. In middle school he was in various plays and made small movies with friends. Once in high school he continued to do theater and began taking video production and graphic design classes. Once in college he focused on cinematography and editing, and continued to make short films with friends. After graduation he moved to Los Angeles, and started interning at three different YouTube channels at once. After the internships ended he began freelancing, working various production gigs and even worked in a camera rental house in Hollywood.
In late 2014 he broke into scripted television as a post production assistant, working on the likes of "Empire".
In 2015, he continued working as a post production assistant, this time on the Hulu Series, "Casual". He also got the chance to write, direct and edit his first short film, with a budget, entitled "Prey for Us". Afterwards he went back to post production to work on the show "Life in Pieces".
