Transformers: Every Original Prime In The Thirteen, Ranked

Though the concept was only introduced in the 21st century, the Thirteen Primes have become a tenet of Transformers media. The first Transformers created by the Godlike Primus, the Thirteen are the progenitors of the Cybertronian race and the originator of the title "Prime." The group were meant to help defeat Primus' rival, Unicron. Though they were successful, unfortunately they didn't all return from battle the same.

When the Primes returned, it wasn't long before fighting broke out between them. Considering how important they are, it's hard not to wonder which of them are the best. With some of them appearing more often, its not hard to notice some Primes have made far greater contributions to Transformers history than others.

Transformers: Generation 2 attempted to reboot the franchise in the 90s with a "grim 'n' gritty" direction, but only lasted 12 issues. The series featured Optimus Prime and the Autobots adopting a "take no prisoners" attitude and facing off against a new supreme villain named Jhiaxus. While Transformers: Generation 2 failed to revitalize the brand, subsequent reboots like Beast Wars and the current Energon Universe line have kept the Transformers franchise alive and thriving.

The Transformers have made their grand return to comics thanks to the Energon Universe reboot, but it’s certainly not the first time the franchise has re-invented itself over the years.
