Exclusive: The Coven (Terrifier 2) has boarded sales on the all-female anthology Give Me An A responding to the 2022 overturning of Roe V. Wade and is bringing the film to the Cannes market under the title of Objection.

The horror-sci-fi-dark comedy film, created by Natasha Halevi, comprises 16 segments tied together by one wraparound film, directed by different female filmmakers, with the work exploring issues including reproductive rights, women’s rights, mental health, and human rights.

The cast includes Alyssa Milano (Brazen), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Gina Torres (9-1-1: Lone Star), Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us), Jennifer Holland (Peacemaker), Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Molly C. Quinn (Castle), Jason George (Grey’s Anatomy) and Jackie Tohn (Glow).

The film began principal photography in July of 2022, less than a month after the June 24, 2022 Supreme Court ruling and had its first screening at Fantastic Fest 2022 less than two months later.

Director Marie Alice Wolfszahn’s Mother Superior has taken best feature in the main competition at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival with the abortion-focused anthology Give Me An A garnering the Gold Audience Award during the seventh edition of the festival.

Other main competition jury prize winners at Bhff, which ran from Oct. 13-20 with events held in Williamsburg and Prospect Park, included Wolfszahn for best director, Megalomaniac’s Eline Schumacher for best performance and a special jury mention for the Paolo Strippoli-directed Flowing.

The main competition jury, which was comprised of filmmaker Zach Clark, HuffPost Senior Culture Editor Candice Frederick and author Kate Robertson, lauded Mother Superior — a directorial debut from the Austrian Wolfszahn — as “a thoughtfully crafted folk story exploring the völkisch occult with a captivating aesthetic indebted to the gothic tradition and tight editing, each frame carefully considered.”

Russell have released the first-look trailer for The Otherkind, a new film which chronicles a mountain lake town that descends into anarchy as residents start to change. The suspenseful story marks the feature directing debut of Mary C. Russell, whose short films have screened worldwide. Her acclaimed slasher short, Carved, is available on Shudder.

The Otherkind is written and directed by Mary C. Russell. Caroline O'Meara produced and Gary Labranche and Karen Labranche executive produced. The Spiral, is a short horror film about a tormented young woman, Valerie (Arielle Brachfeld known for Chemical Peel and Knock). Valerie is escaping her life in a desolate desert town driving to Vegas away from her abusive step-father, Saul (Jw Wiseman known for Dead Sea and The Hunted.) Valerie takes a wrong turn and ends up stuck in a place called Spiral Road.
