The King of Cocaine, Pablo Escobar, headed a reign of terror as one of the wealthiest conventional criminals in history with his drug cartel before finally laying down to rest on December 2, 1993. But even in his final moments, he ostensibly believed in living life king-size, celebrating a lavish birthday a day before his death. The picture that the top-rated series Narcos painted of him was much different.

When it comes to how he spent his final days, reports have it that the Colombian drug lord was busy having the time of his life as he lavishly celebrated his 44th birthday on December 1, 1993, after escaping custody in July 1992 and going into hiding. Per Britannica, he allegedly enjoyed cake, wine, and even marijuana during the same.

Unfortunately for him, a day later, his hideout in Medellín was discovered by officials, with Colombian forces storming his building as he escaped to the roof with his bodyguard.

Game of Thrones and Narcos star Pedro Pascal is headed to the Jedi universe to portray the title character in The Mandalorian, the live-action Star Wars series that will be a flagship program for Disney+, the ambitious streaming service launching in 2019.

The native of Santiago, Chile, is in final negotiations to star in the series, which chronicles the lone-wolf odyssey of a character who hails from the planet Mandalore, which Star Wars fans know as the homeworld of the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett and Jango Fett.

Pascal memorably portrayed the passionate warrior Oberyn Martell, aka the Red Viper, on the fourth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones. He also played DEA agent Javier Peña on three seasons of Narcos, when the Netflix series centered on the cocaine cartels of Colombia. Steve Murphy and Javier Peña, whose hunt for the Medellin Cartel leader was the focus of the first two seasons of Netflix drama “Narcos,” have teamed up with producers Marty Berman and Michael Horowicz to create a new show that looks at how the DEA is fighting the opioid crisis, as well as was what has happened to international drug cartels since Escobar’s death.

“What we want to do is show people what’s being done and what could be done,” Murphy told TheWrap. “[The opioid epidemic] is now the leading cause of overdose deaths in the county.”

Netflix revealed the news on Tuesday with a teaser video (watch below). Production on the acclaimed drama recently began shooting in Mexico City, Mexico.

It’s unclear if Pedro Pascal will return as DEA agent Javier Peña, a fan favorite, who led efforts to capture drug kingpin Pablo Escobar in Colombia for the first two seasons and then tasked with taking down the Cali Cartel in season 3.

This will mark the second collaboration between Peña and Luna, the two previously worked together in Luna’s English language directorial debut Cesar Chavez.

Narcos season 4 is slated to premiere in 2018.
