Tubi has unveiled an official trailer for an indie romantic drama titled Worth the Wait, made by filmmaker Tom Lin as his latest feature film. This charming tale follows the lives of multiple Asian-American strangers fatefully intertwined as they navigate budding love, confront profound loss, and encounter old flames. About four different couples. It will debut streaming on Tubi (the entirely free streaming service in the US!) directly later this month. Tubi has acquired the romantic comedy “Worth the Wait.”

Directed by Tom Shu-Yu Lin (“Yen and Ai-Lee” and “The Garden of Evening Mists”), the film stars Lana Condor (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before”), Andrew Koji (“Black Doves”), Ross Butler (“13 Reasons Why”), Sung Kang (“Fast & Furious”), Elodie Yung (“The Cleaning Lady”) and more.

The film follows a group of strangers whose lives fatefully intertwine as they navigate budding love, confront profound loss and encounter old flames. Karena Lam makes her U.S. and English-language debut (“July Rhapsody”) as Osric Chau (“Supernatural”), Ali Fumiko Whitney (“Find Me Falling”), Ricky He (“From”), Kheng Hua Tan (“Crazy Rich Asians”) and Yu-Beng Lim (“Rebel Moon”) round out the cast.

“Worth the Wait” is set to premiere on May 23 exclusively on Tubi in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month as Tubi’s first Asian American original film.

Romantic Comedy ‘Worth the Wait,’ Starring Lana Condor and Andrew Koji, Picked Up by The Exchange (Exclusive)

The Exchange has acquired the worldwide sales rights of romantic comedy feature “Worth the Wait,” which stars Lana Condor and Andrew Koji.

The Exchange will introduce the title to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin, which runs Feb. 15-21.

Set in Seattle and Kuala Lumpur, “Worth the Wait” is a story about the intertwining lives of Asian-American strangers over the course of a year as they find new loves, mend their relationships, and create new connections.

The film, which is in post-production, is directed by Tom Shu-Yu Lin, whose credits include “The Garden of Evening Mists” and “Winds of September.”

“A modern approach to ‘Love Actually’ with a star-studded Asian American cast, Tom made a heartwarming rom-com that is truly worth the wait,” said Nat McCormick, The Exchange’s worldwide sales and distribution president.

Olympic Media Rights to be Handled by Infront After Dentsu Loss – Global Bulletin

The International Olympic Committee said on Thursday that Swiss-based, Chinese-owned Infront Sports & Media would handle broadcast right sales in much of Asia for the next series of Summer and Winter games.

The deal covers 22 territories including Afghanistan, Brunei, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam – but not China, Japan or South Korea, and runs 2026-2032. That means it will cover the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Summer games. The 2030 Winter Olympics, which have yet to be allocated a host, and all Youth Olympic Games during this period will also be covered.

Exclusive: Briarcliff Entertainment has taken domestic distribution rights to Sight starring Terry Chen and Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning Greg Kinnear. A wide theatrical release has been set for Oct. 27.

The pic, written and directed by Andrew Hyatt, is based on the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a poor Chinese immigrant who defied all odds to become a world-renowned eye surgeon, restoring vision to tens of thousands. Greg Kinnear Joins Terry Chen in Biopic ‘Sight’ (Exclusive)

Greg Kinnear has joined the cast of “Sight,” a biopic about pioneering medical entrepreneur Dr. Ming Wang, led by actor Terry Chen.

The Open River Entertainment project has commenced a six-week shoot in Vancouver. The film features a predominantly Chinese cast and will be shot in English and Mandarin. Andrew Hyatt is writing and directing. Darren Moorman of Reserve Entertainment and David Fischer of Open River are producing.

Oscar and Emmy nominee Kinnear will play Misha Bartnovsky, a friend and mentor to Wang. The story chronicles Wang’s rise from poverty and violence, growing up in 1960s China, to his migration to the U.S. It shows his struggles with racial discrimination, and rise to become a world-class surgeon who would design new technology to help restore sight to millions.

Chen most recently appeared in Viggo Mortensen’s directorial debut, “Falling,” and broke out in a supporting role in Cameron Crowe’s “Almost Famous.
