American film and media company Buffalo8 has acquired North America and Europe distribution rights to “Lord Curzon Ki Haveli” (Lord Curzon’s Manor).

The dark comedy thriller, which represents actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha’s directorial debut, caught the distributor’s attention during its European premiere at Razor Reel Flanders in Belgium, Europe’s leading genre film festival.

Buffalo8, the company behind Spike Lee’s “Rodney King” and Netflix’s “Conversations With a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes,” sees this acquisition as part of its broader strategy to expand its genre footprint into international markets.

“‘Lord Curzon’s Manor’ is a compelling story that bridges cultural and historical narratives with a unique perspective,” said Grady Craig, president of Buffalo8. “This first-time director successfully delivers on a blend of black comedy and thriller genres, which is a rare combination for Indian cinema. We’re excited about the film’s ability to resonate across diverse audiences.

Anshuman Jha had the censor screening for his Directorial debut on January 3rd 2025. After a prolonged four-month+ engagement with the Central Board of Film Certification (Cbfc), actor and filmmaker Anshuman Jha’s much-anticipated directorial debut “Lord Curzon Ki Haveli” has officially been cleared with a censor certificate. The Cbfc has granted the film an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certification with three mandated changes. The biggest one being that a female character cannot use a curse word on screen with a female-prefix. Jha has had to mute/remove those portions even though it is an ‘A’ certified. The other major contention was the language of the film since it is 50% in Hindi and 50% in English. The upcoming film ‘Lord Curzon Ki Haveli’, which stars Rasika Dugal and Arjun Mathur, has been selected as the closing film at UK-Asian Film Festival 2024. The film will be screened at the historical Regent Cinema on May 11, and director Anshuman Jha and his leading lady Rasika Dugal are expected to walk the red carpet in London.

The film had its world premiere at Iffm Australia, its North American Premiere at Csaff Chicago and its Canadian Premiere at Isaff Vancouver.

Arjun Mathur said: “I found the script of this film to be wacky and weird – from the outset. I think that’s what initially attracted me, the fact that I did not get to categorise into any one particular genre and in a good way – is it a thriller, a black comedy, a mystery. I feel that’s the experience the audiences around the world are having with the film and liking it.

Actor Anhsuman Jha has postponed the shooting of the second installment of ‘Lakadbaggha-2’ for a month owing to his wife Sierra’s pregnancy. The sequel will now go on the floor in June instead of April. The film will be shot in Indonesia but a month and more later now.

Anshuman is going on a nine week paternity leave to be with his wife before, during and after delivery, he said: “Listening to my heart here. I want to prioritise being with Sierra at this time. Being with her through these last six weeks and for at least a month after delivery feels like the right thing to do.”

He added: “Originally I was to return in two weeks but it’s an important moment in our lives and being by her side takes precedence over all else.”

The sequel to the film written by famed writer Sourav Ghosh.

There is almost zero subtlety in Lakadbaggha. The title is literal, as it is indeed about a hyena saving the day. For the uninitiated, Lakadbaggha is the Hindi word for the animal. The one we see in the movie looks quite artificial, though, thanks to shoddy VFX. In fact, the effect of budget constraints is visible throughout the movie. It doesn’t exactly look that polished; in fact, a lot of frames appear to be downright amateurish. I am not on a mission to massacre Victor Mukherjee’s movie with harsh words. In fact, it is just the opposite. I am getting the criticism out of the way first, because I have all the praise in the world for Lakadbaggha, which, despite all the issues, was an incredibly satisfactory watch for me.

The shooting of the Pankaj Tripathi, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Sanjana Sanghi-starrer untitled film was wrapped up on Sunday after an extensive schedule. While everyone was enjoying the festive colours of the New Year, the actress was busy shooting for Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury in Kolkata.

Taking to her social media, Sanjana shared a string of BTS pictures from the film’s set. She wrote in the caption, “Its A Wrap! Words fall short to explain this feeling. But one must try (sic).”

Mumbai, Feb 5 (Ians) Actor Paresh Pahuja, who made a mark playing Dimple Kapadias son Raghu in the web series Tandav, will make his debut as a singer with romantic single, Mascara.

Paresh has collaborated with singer Akasa and lyricist Vayu, who is known for creating "Baatein karo", "Kamariya" and "Thug ranjha", for the song.

The song narrates the story of two introverts who feel an instant connection with each other but find it difficult expressing their emotions.

"I was away from the screen for a long time because I felt I had not been getting good offers. Acting is my first calling and I would never leave a chance if I get a good role," Dino said.
