Jeremy Swift definitely isn’t in Richmond anymore. The actor, who famously portrayed Leslie Higgins on Ted Lasso, is stepping into the iconic role of Principal Merlin in Descendants: The Rise of Red, and TVLine has your exclusive first look at the spellcaster in action.

Available to stream beginning July 12, the Disney+ sequel turns the clock back — way back — to when Auradon Prep was still called Merlin Academy, and we’ll give you one guess who’s calling the shots. Per his official description, Swift’s Principal Merlin “does his best to use his own magic to keep powerful, dangerous magic away from his students.

Descendants 4 Will Include Younger Versions Of Jasmin, Aladdin & More

The upcoming film Descendants: The Pocketwatch will include younger versions of beloved Disney characters, such as Jasmine, Aladdin, Hades, and Maleficent. The Descendants franchise began with the eponymous first film in 2015, which followed the teenage children of classic Disney villains. Two spinoff television miniseries also debuted in 2015 as part of the franchise. Two sequel films premiered in 2017 and 2019 respectively, and in May 2022, it was confirmed that the fourth film in the series, a spinoff titled Descendants: The Pocketwatch, was in production.

In a post to Disney+'s Instagram page, casting was revealed for several new characters attending Merlin Academy. Check out the post below:

The Good Doctor fans will have to wait a little bit longer for the Good Lawyer backdoor pilot, which will now air Monday, March 13 at 10/9c on ABC, it was announced on Wednesday.

In the episode, which was previously scheduled for March 6, Dr. Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) “seeks legal representation to help him win a case and puts his faith in a promising, young lawyer (Nancy Drew‘s Kennedy McMann) who has obsessive compulsive disorder,” reads the official synopsis.

Exclusive: Disney+ is rounding out the cast of The Pocketwatch (working title), a music- and dance-filled original movie sequel to the megahit Descendants franchise at Disney+. Production is underway in Atlanta.

That 90s Show‘s Sam Morelos, Anthony Pyatt (When I’m With You), Peder Lindell (Out Of My Hands), Mars (Heather), Tristan Padil (The Lake Merritt Monster), Kabir Bery (Squatting), Grace Narducci (Law & Order: Svu) and newcomer Aiza Azaar join previously annouced cast Kylie Cantrall, Rita Ora, Malia Baker, Brandy, Jeremy Swift and Leonardo Nam in the sequel written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (Magic: The Gathering)
