Created and produced by Mara Brock Akil, who also serves as executive producer and showrunner, the story captures so strongly the feelings of first love between Keisha and Justin. Fifty years after the publishing of Blume’s hit young adult novel in 1975, Brock Akil has reimagined the story, which traces how first love creates a ripple effect into their futures after they reconnect after grade school in 2018’s Los Angeles.

Lovie Simone: I didn’t know about Judy Blume at all. She wasn’t of my time, but more of my mom’s time. But I definitely got the book once the audition was sent to me.

Reports of the demise of South by Southwest’s music element seem to have been exaggerated, with SXSW organizers clarifying that while next year’s event will be shorter, its music presence will not be diminished.

A spokesperson for SXSW confirmed that the festival is reconfiguring as the Austin Convention Center is set to shut down for renovation. As such, SXSW 2026 will be two days shorter, cutting into what has traditionally been the festival’s music-focused second weekend. (Since 1987, a music conference with four days of programming has taken place on Wednesday through Saturday.) But next year’s event will feature an additional night of music, melding into SXSW’s film and television programming.

El-Baz, who is based in Los Angeles, will lead the Apple Music PR team, bringing with her years of experience in the music industry. She arrives from gamma, where she led communications for the media company, which was launched by ex-Apple executive Larry Jackson in 2023.

The Masked Singer is back!

The quarter-finals of the mystery celebrity singing competition aired on Wednesday night (December 4) on Fox.

The show, which began in South Korea, features celebrities singing songs while wearing costumes and face masks concealing their identities until they’re eliminated. Throughout the season, the contestants provide clues to try and help the judges and fans figure out who is under the mask.

This season also features Ambassadors, who are all alums of the series, that have a special connection to each singer and will be providing major new clues about their friends’ identities.

During the episode, the Top Four – Wasp, Goo, Strawberry Shortcake, and Buffaloes – hit the stage for their quarter-finals performances.

While on stage, Goo performed “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls.

The 26-year-old singer, who publicly came out last week following social media posts, took to Instagram and X on Monday to refute any claims of abuse in his previous relationship. He, in turn, accused singer and rapper Hugo Almonte of being the abusive one in the relationship.

Famous for his films Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad, Gunn is Dcu’s answer to Kevin Feige from the MCU.
