Hello and welcome to the first instalment of Talk Panels to Me. This is my corner of the world to shine a light on those putting their collective heart and souls into the world of creator-owned/self-published comics. The aim is to focus on the best of British, with the occasional venture across the pond and maybe further afield. Maybe my line of questions will gain online notoriety and a well-established name will throw their hat into the ring…

In X-Men lore, the most powerful mutants are categorized as 'Omega mutants,' possessing power equal to literal gods. Despite the X-Men franchise existing for 61 years, only a couple dozen mutants have been officially declared Omega-level, showing just how rare and overwhelming the power wielded by these mutants actually is. The full list of X-Men's Omegas includes iconic heroes, iconic villains, and some little-known mutants.
Many of X-Men's Omega mutants come from the recently introduced nation of Arakko, so this list will be broken into two parts: Earth mutants (the humanoid heroes and villains most fans are likely to recognize) and Arakko mutants (weird and wonderful new additions who push the boundaries of mutant powers.) We'll also cover potential Omega mutants - those who probably deserve the title, even though Marvel hasn't made it official.

Warning! Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and the Bold #19!One A-tier Gotham villain just proved that Batman absolutely can lose, as Batman admits that Scarecrow finally beat him. One of the greatest Batman speeches was about how, no matter what death trap or insidious villain he goes up against, he's still there and willing to fight for Gotham City. It was a fantastic speech about how Batman never loses, but Scarecrow completely proves him wrong.
Gotham is plunged into madness and terror as a persistent hum has driven the majority of Gotham's citizens insane in "The Hum" by Zac Thompson, Stefano Raffaele, Lee Loughridge, and Troy Peteri from Batman: The Brave and the Bold #19. Even the Bat-Family has fallen to madness and joined the hordes of raving maniacs. Seeing the city tearing itself apart due to fear, Batman decides that he has to team up with Scarecrow to save his city.

This post contains major spoilers for Marvel's "Alien: Romulus" #1.
Director Fede Álvarez brought the "Alien" franchise back to life with this year's "Alien: Romulus." It was the first entry in the franchise in seven years following the commercial disappointment that was Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant" in 2017. But Álvarez didn't shy away from touching on Scott's prequels in his film, nor did he shy away from making direct connections to Scott's original 1979 horror/sci-fi masterpiece "Alien." Now, a new comic that serves as a prequel to Álvarez's film makes even more connections to Scott's '70s classic, shining a light on the fate of the first Xenomorph that terrorized the crew of the Nostromo.
Marvel's "Alien: Romulus" #1, written by Zac Thompson and illustrated by Daniel Picciotto, serves as a direct prequel to the events of the film of the same name.

When Alien: Romulus hit multiplex screens this summer, it raised a handful of questions. Some of the more burning queries included: “Who is the father of Kay’s baby?” (to which the answer is resoundingly grim), “Is Rain’s dream home of Yvaga all it’s cracked up to be?” and “Who, of sound body & mind, would rubber stamp that ghoulish deepfake of Ian Holm?”
What’s less likely to have kept you up at night, however, is the missing time that bridges the film’s prologue — in which Weyland-Yutani recovers the original Xenomorph from Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic — and its narrative proper. After all, we already know: A) that the corporation sent out a probe with the express purpose of tracking down the so-called “perfect organism”; B) that they proceeded to conduct experiments with its DNA; and C) that by the time the Corbelan crew arrives at Renaissance Station,...

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Alien: Romulus #1! Weyland-Yutani is the evil company in the Alien franchise that has been after the Xenomorph since the very first film, and the reason why has always been a bit ambiguous. Sure, its been stated several times that Weyland-Yutani wants to use the Xenomorph as a living weapon, given that its biology makes it the perfect killing machine. But, why does Wy want a living weapon? Well, after the latest installment in the Alien franchise, fans finally have the answer - and its way more horrific than they thought.
Alien: Romulus #1 by Zac Thompson and Daniel Picciotto is the official prequel to the 2024 film, which tells fans exactly how the Xenomorph from the 1979 movie (Big Chap) slaughtered everyone at Renaissance Station. As shown in the movie, the Wy scientists located Big Chap from the wreckage of the Nostromo, and brought the alien aboard the Renaissance.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Alien: Romulus #1! The Xenomorph was introduced in the original 1979 Alien film, and even to this day, 45 years later, the creature is just as iconic. However, just because the Alien franchise and its titular monster have stood the test of time, doesnt mean everything about the Xenomorphs debut was perfect, including and especially one glaring mistake in particular. Thankfully, the latest addition to the Alien franchise has corrected this mistake.
In Alien: Romulus #1 by Zac Thompson and Daniel Picciotto, fans are shown exactly how Big Chap decimated Renaissance Station, effectively allowing Aliens original Xenomorph to have one final murder-fest before being retired forever. The comic picks up right after the Renaissance crew brings the cocooned Xenomorph on board, detailing how rogue security guards free it from stasis to kill it, only to unintentionally unleash it upon the entire crew.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Alien: Romulus #1! Since the Xenomorph was first introduced in 1979s Alien, the creature has remained a mystery. A truly terrifying example of cosmic horror, the Xenomorph is a twisted perversion of life itself, a parasite that requires death to reproduce, only to bring about even more pain and suffering once matured. And the scariest part? No one knows the species history. At least, until now, as Alien may have finally revealed the ancient history of the Xenomorph.

The Alien franchise continues to expand, as the first official look at the prequel comic for Alien: Romulus provides more insight into the film's backstory. The main plot of the latest movie sees a ragtag group of twenty-somethings try to commandeer a forgotten spacecraft, with unfortunately devastating results. Marvels new comic tie-in explains the origins of the films Romulus setting, and how the horror could have been avoided.
The preview for Alien: Romulus #1 written by Zac Thompson, with art by Daniel Picciotto features a crew investigating the wreckage from the very first Alien film. With story credits to the films director Fede Alvarez and co-writer Rodo Sayagues, the comic prequel dives into the terror that started before the events of the movie.
A Xenomorph body is picked up from the destroyed Nostromo ship and brought aboard the Renaissance station, divided into Remus and Romulus sections.

Devil's Reign: Superior Four made the case that Doc Ock needs to focus on enhancing his own powers instead of trying to steal someone else's body; his time in Peter Parker's body in Spectacular Spider-Man taught him things, but he needs to show that he learned the right lessons. Otto Octavius knows what Peter Parker's "Spidey-sense" feels like if he were to recreate it through science, it would be a gamechanging move for the perennial antagonist, elevating him to the top spot on the list of Spider-Man's most dangerous rogues.
Spider-Man has some truly dangerous enemies, but few are more intelligent or dangerous than Otto Octavius. Doc Ock is one of the smartest men in the Marvel Universe, and unfortunately for everyone, he uses that intelligence for evil.

Doctor Octopus defeats Knull the King in Black in a shocking matchup teased in Devil's Reign: Superior Four #2. Supreme Octopus emerges as the most powerful version of Doctor Octopus the multiverse. The story raises the possibility of an epic battle between the Spider-Man villain and the King in Black that readers would no doubt want to see.
There have been tons of different versions of Spider-Man across the multiverse, along with plenty of different versions of his villains. With the multiverse being infinite, there's an infinite number of stories that Marvel hasn't told, and there's definitely one universe worth exploring more. That would be the one where Spider-Man's iconic villain, Doctor Octopus, easily defeated Knull, the King in Black.
The surprising match up between Doc Ock and Knull is hinted at in 2022's Devil's Reign: Superior Four #2 by Zac Thompson and Davide Tinto. In this story, Doctor Octopus is traveling...

The real-life Skinwalker Ranch is a hotbed of paranormal activity, ranging from sightings of bizarre creatures to UFOs. Located in the Utah Basin, the Skinwalker Ranch, as it has come to be called, has puzzled scientists and other researchers since the 1990s. In 1994, Terry and Gwen Sherman purchased the ranch, and shortly thereafter, odd occurrences began. Two years later, scientist Robert Bigelow purchased the ranch, and embarked on a landmark, nearly 20-year study of the Skinwalker Ranch; the Ranch was so named because some believe that skinwalkers,...

The Marvel Universe is home to numerous hidden lands and cultures, but one of the most prominent is the Savage Land, a prehistoric realm under the watchful eye of the mysterious X-Men ally known as Ka-Zar and his protective sabretooth tiger Zabu. But who is the Lord of the Savage Land, and what role does he fulfil in the larger Marvel Universe?
Ka-Zar was born Lord Kevin Plunder, the son of wealthy British nobleman Robert Plunder. Robert originally discovered the Savage Land in search of the mythic Anti-Metal, aka Antarctic Vibranium. While only a small amount of Anti-Metal was salvaged for safekeeping, other parties pursued Plunder and his family, seeking the Savage Land's location. Robert returned to the Savage Land with his eldest son Kevin for refuge, but instead faced a volatile group of Man-Apes led by Maa-Gor, which culminated in his death.

AfterShock Comics’ latest series centers around the dangers posed by social media and the internet — and, given that this is a horror series, those dangers are not exactly what audiences might be expecting.
I Breathed A Body is, according to writer Zac Thompson, “a supernatural horror book set in Silicon Valley about the voyeurism of violence. Thanks to social media, we’ve become prepared to see death and despair at any moment. Modern social networks are a relentless barrage of provocative content designed to keep us outraged, engaged, and fearful. This book is an indictment of the Big Tech companies who ...
