Fox Nation Drives Into the Sports Doc Space, Greenlights New Season of ‘100 Days to Indy’
Image
Fox Nation is speeding into the sports docuseries space, picking up a new season of 100 Days to Indy, as well as the rights to the show’s first two seasons.

100 Days to Indy chronicles the drivers and teams of Indycar in the 100 days leading up the Indianapolis 500. The first two seasons of the shoe aired on The CW and also streamed on Netflix.

For Fox Nation, the show marks a significant expansion into the sports world, with some corporate synergy involved too. Fox is the official broadcaster of the Indianapolis 500, and Fox Nation will stream a replay of the event after it airs on the broadcaster, in addition to the docuseries.

Fox had Penske team driver Josef Newgarden at its upfront presentation earlier this month, where he talked about seeking a three-peat.

“We are thrilled to share exclusive access inside the lead up to the race and a...

Image
Motorsports docuseries 100 Days To Indy will return for a second season at CW. The network has renewed the series from Penske Entertainment for premiere on the network this spring.

The six-part unscripted series takes viewers behind the scenes and onto the track with the Ntt IndyCar Series superstar drivers as they prepare to compete for racing’s greatest prize: the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race.

“We are thrilled to bring another season of 100 Days To Indy to The CW and continue to grow our portfolio of quality sports programming,” said Heather Olander, Head of Unscripted Programming, The CW Network. “Last season gave fans unprecedented access behind the scenes of IndyCar racing leading up to the biggest race of the year, the Indy 500. We featured Josef Newgarden’s journey to the Brickyard in Indianapolis to become last year’s Indy 500 winner. We look forward to another season riding along with the...

‘100 Days to Indy’ Star Josef Newgarden Shades Authenticity of F1 Series ‘Drive to Survive': ‘No Need to Fabricate’
Image
Josef Newgarden, a two-time IndyCar champion and star of the new “100 Days to Indy” series on the CW network, shook a little spice into the rivalry between his North American open-wheel racing series and Formula One – suggesting that “Drive to Survive” on Netflix has been “fabricating” storylines.

Newgarden made his comments from onstage Wednesday night during a Q&a session following the premiere of “100 Days to Indy,” a quick-turnaround documentary-style show being co-produced by CW and Vice. He said IndyCar, which holds its third event of the 2023 season this weekend in Long Beach, has enough close racing to keep things interesting organically.

“The competition is so good that there’s no need to fabricate anything,” Newgarden said, “unlike … some motorsports products.”

That drew a knowing laugh from the Long Beach crowd and fellow IndyCar drivers onstage including Pato O’Ward, Marcus Ericsson, Scott McLaughlin and “Drive to Survive” director...
