Marathi film ‘Sumi’, which bagged the Award for Best Children’s Film at the 68th National Film Awards is heading for an Ott release. The poster of the film was unveiled by the makers recently.

In the words of the film’s director, Amol Vasant Gole, the film touches on various important topics like “girl child education, women empowerment, education in rural areas and infrastructural development.”

Talking about his film, Gole said: “The risk we took to tell a brave story has paid off. Every character in the film will leave the audience with a strong message, especially the characters of both the kids who have performed so real by understanding the nerves and emotions.”

The film, which stars child actors Akanksha Pingale and Divyesh Indulkar, seasoned actors like Smita Tambe and Nitin Bhajan, follows the inspiring story of the daughter of a stone quarry worker and her pursuit for higher education.

For a film that has not been shot Bihar/Patna at all, Jabariya Jodi gets the details right, including place names and even random public places. Also everyone is shown drinking all the time in ‘dry’ Bihar, although there is a passing reference to alcohol-free Bihar. But what the ‘hic’.

Groom-kidnapping, which forms the crux of this splashy, gaudy, riotous saga, is no more that prevalent in Bihar. But you know what? Jabariya Jodi is nonetheless an endearing slice-of-laugh raucous ode to rusticity with the lead pair and supporting cast hellbent on having fun. So who are we to resist?

The film wraps its head in a swirl of mischievous mayhem, making the whole cult of anti-dowry groom-kidnapping syndrome seem like a cauldron of conflicts simmering in a scintillating seductive stratosphere. The director knows how to control mob incidents.

Sidharth Malhotra?s character preparation for Jabariya Jodi included references and meetings with the head of the groom kidnapping business, Surender Yadav.?Jabariya Jodi is based on the concept of ?Pakadua Shaadi?, wherein men are being?kidnapped, captured randomly from a number of districts?and then married to brides at gunpoint, in the state of Bihar. The whole idea started when a poverty-ridden state like Bihar and Up had families where the grooms were demanding high dowries and refusing to get married without taking money.

Actor Amit Sadh and Manjari Fadnis will be seen in a suspense drama film titled Barot House, based on a real life event.

Amit Sadh?said: "The thought that Barot House is inspired by true events spooks me. My character is complex and the range of emotions we have experienced while shooting this stretches beyond anything I have ever done before. The story is intense and will keep audiences guessing until the very end."
