You better hurry and haul out the holly, because Great American Family has decided that it cannot wait to get the holiday celebrations underway. So, the fast-growing cable channel announced on Thursday that its annual Great American Christmas programming block was moving up its premiere date by one week and will now kick off on Friday, Oct. 13. Holiday films will start airing on the network at 6 a.m. Et on Friday, and the first world premiere original film, “Destined 2: Christmas Once More,” will air on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. Et.

The “Escape Room” sub-genre of horror seems to be picking up a bit of pace the last few years, coinciding with the popularity of real-life escape rooms. Personally, I haven’t been to one in real-life and the handful of movies I have seen based on them have ranged in quality, without any being outstanding. Is there a great movie with this basic story? Well, perhaps it has already been made because two of my favourite horror movies in Saw (2004) and Cube (1997) are basically escape room movies before that became a thing. It’s very hard to show any originality with these types of films but these two classics show you can, does Escape: Puzzle of Fear follow suit?

Lionsgate has debuted the first official trailer for a time travel romantic comedy titled Time Freak, a full-length feature film version of Andrew Bowler's Oscar nominated short film of the same name from a few years ago. The romantic comedy is about a kid who invents his own time machine to try to travel back in time and save his relationship. As expected, things go wrong. Asa Butterfield stars, with Sophie Turner, Skyler Gisondo, Will Peltz, and Aubrey Reynolds. As much as I enjoy time travel films, this has been done so many times before. When will we learn that you can't go back in time and fix a relationship or make things go differently? It never works! And yet they keep making movies that ask and answer this question over and over, with the same result. Oh well.

Andrew Bowler's Time Freak features Sophie Turner and Asa Butterfield in a love story that moves across different times in the past and the future. The sci-fi rom-com is Bowler's first feature-length film, and is based off of his Academy Award nominated short film of the same name. The short film was released in 2011 and is inspired by movies like Primer and Back to the Future. The story has been changed around, but the basic time traveling premise remains for the new adaptation, along with a new storyline and characters.
