Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Syfy's Reginald the Vampire.Just days after its season 2 finale aired on July 10, Syfy has canceled its horror-comedy Reginald the Vampire (via TVLine). Led by Jacob Batalon, who is known for his role as Ned Leeds in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show charmed audiences with its unconventional take on the vampire trope. Batalon starred as the titular character, a man-turned-vampire who doesn't fit into the stereotypical expectations of what a vampire looks like he's not chiseled or 'classically handsome.'
The show's now final episode, titled Just Like Heaven, aired on July 10 and ended on a cliffhanger. Despite forgiving Uriel (Max Montessi) for his murderous actions, Reginald finds himself trapped in a heavenly loop with Sarah (Em Haine), while a ghostly Mike (Ryan Jinn) grants Todd (Aren Buchholz) a fleeting moment of closure. While unlikely, some fans on social media are hoping...

Horror comedy Reginald the Vampire is not being renewed for a third season at Syfy, TVLine has learned exclusively.
The series was an adaptation of Johnny B. Truant’s Fat Vampire book series. Created and penned by Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks, Chucky) who also served as showrunner, the dramedy imagined a world populated by “beautiful, fit and vain vampires.” Reginald Andres (played by Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s Jacob Batalon) tumbled headlong into it as an unlikely hero who navigated every kind of obstacle — the girl he loves but can’t be with, a bully manager at work and the vampire chieftain who wants him dead.

After it debuted nearly two years ago, Reginald the Vampire quickly became a hit for Syfy. The premise finds Reginald (Jacob Batalon) killed by the enemies of a slick vampire known as Maurice (Mandela Van Peebles). The only way to save Reginald is for Maurice to turn him into a vampire. All too quickly, Reginald must learn how to adapt yet keep his vampire cravings hidden. The second season premiered May 8 and is even more delightful than the first. Check out a sneak peek of tomorrow's episode, the third of the season, in the video above. Episodes air weekly on Wednesdays at 10Pm on Syfy. We also spoke with Batalon about the show.
You know, honestly speaking, I did not know what to expect, Batalon said regarding the script and production, but I just knew it was a very fun and different show that we had not really seen yet.

The dialogue and paranormal aspects of the show were the biggest challenges for the cast, who embraced the opportunity to explore emotions and work with visual effects.
SurrealEstate season 2 sees The Roman Agency rebrand to The Roman Ireland Agency after 10 episodes of emotional (and paranormal) upheaval. The show, which returned to Syfy after a tantalizing two-year wait, follows an elite team of real estate specialists who tackle haunted houses known to send buyers running for the hills. Susan Ireland could use a spa day. The character, played to winning ends by Sarah Levy on SYFYs SurrealEstate, has been facing extreme challenges in her lavish new house in season two of the hit supernatural dramedy. Let’s just say that when the house’s communication system traps you inside of it and then pulls a Carol Burnett, saying, “I’ve enjoyed having you here these past few days,” something is horribly off.
It’s one of the many inventive twists found in season two of the show, headlined by Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp) and Sarah Levy, who previously starred alongside each other in the Emmy-winning comedy series Schitt's Creek. Their new series also stars Maurice Dean Wint, Tennille Read, Adam Korson, Savannah Basley, Jennifer Dale, and Allison Woolridge. The plots follow real estate agent Luke Roman (Rozon) and an elite team of specialists as they take on cases nobody else can.

Note: This interview took place prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.SyFy’s Surreal Estate has plenty of frights and mystery in escrow. The quirky hit show won audiences over in season one as real estate agent Luke Roman was bombarded with surprises at The Roman Agency. Par for the course for a boutique real estate brokerage firm that specialized in “metaphysically engaged” properties. Haunted houses, folks, are we right? Fortunately, Luke stood out among other real estate agents. He has a groovy connection to the spiritual plane and senses any presence inhabiting his clients’ homes. Taking on the houses others freely toss aside, Luke and his team become the best kind of negotiators to close the deal.

“He’s just different than any other vampire I’d ever seen, and any other hero,” says Reginald the Vampire writer Harley Peyton about the titular character of the new Syfy dramedy. “And usually in those stories, he would be the next-door neighbor, the comic relief, the sidekick, but in our story, he’s the hero.” Stars Jacob Batalon (Reginald), Em Haine (Sarah Kinney), Savannah Basley (Angela Hibbert), alongside series director Jeremiah Chechik and Peyton, sat down with Emily Aslanian in the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine New York Comic Con 2022 suite. They revealed what attracted them to the series, adapted from the Fat Vampire books by Johnny B. Truant, how each character feels toward Reginald and their dynamics with him in the show. “We don’t fall in love with the romanticism of vampires, we sort of poke fun at it,” Batalon said in the video above. “So that’s a great thing.

Vampires seem to be making a comeback on the small screen, and Syfy brings a comedic entry into the resurgence.
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 1 managed to provide some light-hearted vampire fun while staying true to vampires.
While its seriousness is still evident, we can appreciate its fun in a time when serious (Let The Right One In) or sexual (Interview With a Vampire) vampires seem to reign.
The premiere set up the entire season well but didn't do much else to draw us in.
Jacob Batalon portrays Reginald wonderfully, and we hope the show improves as the season leaves setup mode.
In a world full of remakes and reboots, the freshness of Reginald the Vampire provides a brilliant sign of relief.
Based on Johnny B. Truant's novel, Fat Vampire, the series follows Reginald as he becomes a vampire and deals with the internal politics that reflect his real-world issues.
