As the new production continues to rehearse, The Phantom, Christine, and Raoul have been seen singing Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic songs on the roof. Although the venue has a 10:00 pm curfew every night, cast members have been spotted preparing for their July 31 debut on the roof, Page Six reports. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Masquerade, the immersive spin-off of The Phantom of the Opera, will begin previews in New York on July 31, producers announced today, with a large cast that includes former Broadway Phantoms Hugh Panaro and Jeremy Stolle.

Character roles for the large cast were not revealed, but Stolle has been identified by fans as the Phantom that visited the Tony Awards ceremony earlier this month, but given the multi-room aspect of the immersive production the show might well require more than one Phantom.

Another cast member, Kaley Ann Voorhees, portrayed Phantom‘s Christine for several stints on Broadway from 2014 to 2019.

In the announcement today, details of the production were disclosed for the first time. For starters, yes, it’s a musical event based on Phantom with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Masquerade today announced additional details for its upcoming immersive debut, including the unveiling of the complete cast and creative team. Masquerade’s first special preview performance will be on July 31, 2025. Joining just-announced Tony Award winner Diane Paulus will be a slew of faces familiar to the Phantom’s universe, as well as exciting voices bringing new perspective and light to the treasured legacy of the show. Hugh Panaro is returning to the Phantom of the Opera universe after previously playing the title role in the Broadway musical over 2,500 times.

The full cast of Masquerade, the upcoming immersive Phantom production, was just announced and Hugh is just one of several Phantom vets who will star in the show.

Masquerade blurs the lines of reality, bringing audiences inside and closer than ever before to the strange affair of the Phantom of the Opera – a mystery never fully explained. From the highest rooftop to the subterranean lair deep below the Opera Populaire, guests will be invited to experience the music of the night more intimately than ever before.
