The meta sequel to the 1984 cult classic slasher The Mutilator will hit other VOD services on September 2 via Cardinal Xd.

Mutilator 2, writer/director Buddy Cooper’s long-awaited follow-up to his 1984 slasher The Mutilator (pick up a copy Here), is starting to make its way out into the world. The movie was screened at Joe Bob Briggs’ latest drive-in Jamboree event a couple of years ago, and received an “audience favorite” award there. It took a while for it to secure a distribution deal, but now it has – and while Cooper and the distributor were talking about a September 2nd release date, Mutilator 2 has already shown up on Prime Video! It’s currently available to watch at This Link, where it can be rented for $2.99 or purchased for $9.99.

Cooper has confirmed that the movie will be released to major transactional platforms first followed by Fandango/Vudu, Rogers, and then some of the Mod platforms. Eventually, it will also make its way to Tubi and Xumo.

Garrett Martin’s The Asylum has a roster of new residents.

Actors Cameron Cowperthwaite, Willa Holland, Henry Thomas, Julian Richings and Chaney Morrow have booked roles in the indie psychological thriller. Martin directed from his own script, which follows the events inside a sinister asylum where a dedicated counselor named Dr. Emmett Thompson (Cowperthwaite) is helping those with mental health issues.

He encounters a patient in need named Adam (Morrow) and sets out to help him. Meanwhile, Holland plays Angela, a woman with a complex relationship with Cowperthwaite’s counselor. Thomas stars as Axel, a detective who is investigating the asylum while Richings plays Dr. Raymond, the head psychiatrist at the asylum. Shooting has wrapped in Kentucky.

Martin produced the film through his Martin Motion Pictures alongside a team that includes Jeff Seemann, Davi Davis and Nicolaas Bertelsen.

Both aim to maximise low-budget returns by restricting themselves to a single location – an approach that worked very well recently for filling station ordeal Night of the Hunted, not to mention of course the apex of horror, The Shining. A handful of familiar faces in the world of indie horror have joined forces for the upcoming Bunker Heights, a genre-bending film that’s currently in the post-production stage.

“Bunker Heights is a genre-bending farce that delves into the complexities of a troubled city facing a catastrophic crisis,” an official statement previews. “Blending elements of crime, horror, and dark comedy, the film offers a gripping narrative that follows the lives of its citizens as they navigate the looming threat that jeopardizes their very existence.”

Review: Reboots are nothing new these days, but rarely do you find a filmmaker who remakes his own film released not even ten years prior. Anthony Diblasi, a protege of Clive Barker who has produced or directed three adaptations of the British author’s writing, released Last Shift in 2014. The little-seen flick, written by Diblasi and Scott Polley, followed a rookie cop witnessing supernatural events in a police station.

Thirty-eight years after gifting the world a really cool slasher called The Mutilator (pick up a copy Here), writer/director Buddy Cooper has finally gotten around to making a sequel to the film… and over the weekend, he took to social media to unveil the first official poster for Mutilator 2! Cooper notes that “the woman bound to the nasty looking piling” on the Mutilator 2 poster is Olivia, played by Eva Hamilton of Death Kiss. Producer Jeff Seemann added that “the ocean water was in the 40s when Eva stepped into it for this scene.” So it definitely sounds like it’s a moment worth promoting on the poster.

Split actress Jessica Sula (“Scream: The TV Series”) will star in director Anthony Diblasi’s reimagining of his 2014 chiller.

The saddest thing about Jeff Seemann‘s Terror Trips is that it’s easy to tell it was entirely made from a place of love for the horror genre. There is so much heart, soul, passion, and care injected into the film to the point where it’s legitimately upsetting knowing what unfolds throughout the course of the movie.

Long story short, Terror Trips is one of the most boring and uneventful horror films of the year. It runs at an extremely brisk eighty-seven minutes including credits, and yet so much of the film focuses on this young group of friends...

Saban Films has revealed the first trailer for the Wrong Turn reboot which was formerly known as Wrong Turn: The Foundation. The horror franchise has been going strong since the original hit theaters in 2003. It inspired a series of five sequels but the series has been dormant since 2014. No longer. The horror is heading back to the woods for a new round of cannibalistic craziness. And it will be getting a limited engagement on the big screen.

There is no word on how soon the movie will be made available digitally but those who are feeling eager to see the return of the franchise will have the chance to do so in theaters for one night only. Saban Films has announced a partnership through Fathom Events that will bring Wrong Turn to theaters for a special one-night event on Tuesday, January 26. Presale tickets will be made available on January 8.

The Wrong Turn reboot is one important step closer to becoming a reality. The latest entry in the horror franchise comes from director Mike P. Nelson, with a script from franchise creator Alan B. McElroy. While no release date has been firmed up, the movie is in the can and ready to go as the MPAA has handed out an official R-rating to the movie. And it is going to be a bloody affair.

According to the MPAA, the new Wrong Turn will be "Rated R for strong bloody violence, grisly images and pervasive language." This looks to be right in line with what viewers have come to expect from the franchise over the years. A poster was previously shared with the title Wrong Turn: The Foundation.
