“Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.” star Peyton Elizabeth Lee and “Dead Boy Detectives” actor Joshua Colley have joined director Will Ropp’s coming-of-age comedy “Brian.”

Written by “Late Night with Seth Meyers” writer Mike Scollins and starring Ben Wang, “Brian” follows an “acerbic, accident-prone high school student” (Wang) who runs for class president “in an attempt to get closer to his teacher.” William H. Macy plays Brian’s therapist while Colley plays a new friend.

The cast also includes Thomas Barbusca, Rightor Doyle, Jacob Moskovitz, William H. Macy’s daughter Sophia Macy, Jack Alberts, Randall Park, Natalie Morales and Edi Patterson.

The movie, which wrapped production in May in Oklahoma, marks Ropp’s feature directorial debut. Ropp previously directed “Kodar: The Primordial God of Light and Ether,” a dramedy short he also co-wrote that stars Maddie Ziegler and the film’s co-writer Nick Skardarasy.

In the new installment of the franchise, Descendants: The Rise of Red, will premiere on Disney+ on July 12. The film will then air on Disney Channel on Aug. 9. While introducing new characters along with some returning favorites from the previous movies, The Rise of Red also brings back Brandy and Paolo Montalban as Cinderella and King Charming, respectively, with the two reprising their roles from the 1997 adaptation of Cinderella. Within 10 days, the trailer for Descendants: The Rise of Red has generated 86M views across platforms, including the official Descendants social media accounts as well as those for Disney+ and talent. The trailer has also amassed 4.5M total engagements.

Netflix dropped the official trailer for Dead Boy Detectives, based on Neil Gaiman’s comics, just weeks ahead of its April 25, 2024 premiere. The three-minute trailer, backed by My Chemical Romance’s “Welcome to the Black Parade,” introduces the key players and the world in which they operate the Dead Boy Detective Agency.

The eight-episode season stars George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, Jenn Lyon, Briana Cuoco, Yuyu Kitamura, Ruth Connell, Lukas Gage, and David Iacono. Steve Yockey (Supernatural) and Beth Schwartz (Sweet Tooth) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Additional executive producers include Neil Gaiman, Greg Berlanti, Jeremy Carver, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman.

Lee Toland Krieger directed and executive produced the first episode.

Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” Netflix has set an April 25th premiere date for the show, and with that date just a few weeks away, a trailer has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above to see the titular characters deal with paranormal cases while My Chemical Romance plays on the soundtrack.

On March 22, 2023, Disney+ confirmed that Brandy will reunite with her now-King Charming, aka Prince Christopher (Paolo Montalban) from the 1997 "Cinderella," in the next film installment, which still doesn't have a set release date.

The streamer revealed the pair's big reunion with a video of them all dressed up in their royal outfits. In a caption, Disney+ wrote, "A royal occasion. ✨ King Charming (@itspaolomontalban) and Cinderella (@brandy) have joined the upcoming Original movie, Descendants: The Rise of Red!"

Brandy first celebrated her casting news in an Instagram post on Nov.

The shoe still fits, so Paolo Montalban is going to wear it and reprise his role as King Charming in “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” the next installment in the Disney movie franchise.

Disney+ announced the news Wednesday in a behind-the-scenes set video capturing “a royal occasion.” Et first reported the news in an exclusive report.

Lead duo Montalban and Brandy Norwood will return to their roles of fairytale couple King Charming and Cinderella alongside Rita Ora as the Queen of Hearts who “rules over the kingdom of Wonderland with an iron fist.”

Montalban first starred as Prince Christopher in “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella” (1997) alongside Norwood as Cinderella with the late Whitney Houston playing the Fairy Godmother. Other ensemble cast members included Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Barger, Natalie Desselle Reid, Bernadette Peters and Jason Alexander.

The next installment in Disney’s Descendants saga includes a royal reunion 26 years in the making.

The Disney+ film, which is now titled Descendants: The Rise of Red, has cast Paolo Montalban as King Charming. Fun on its own, this news becomes considerably more exciting when you remember that Brandy Norwood is playing Cinderella; she and Montalban previously played Cinderella and Prince Charming in an iconic production for ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney back in 1997.

Rita Ora and Brandy (Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella) have joined China Anne McClain, Kylie Cantrall, and Dara Reneé in The Pocketwatch, a new entry in Disney+’s Descendants franchise. Ora will be playing Alice in Wonderland‘s Queen of Hearts and Brandy’s on board to reprise her role as Cinderella in the new musical directed by Jennifer Phang (The Flight Attendant).

The cast also includes Malia Baker (The Babysitter’s Club), Ruby Rose Turner (Coop and Cami Ask the World), Morgan Dudley (Jagged Little Pill on Broadway), and Joshua Colley (Senior Year). Melanie Paxson will return as Fairy Godmother, a character she played in the previous Descendants films.

Cinderella star Brandy and Rita Ora (Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight) have joined the cast of The Pocketwatch (working title), a music- and dance-filled original movie sequel to the megahit Descendants franchise.

Brandy will return to the role of Cinderella, which she first played in Walt Disney Television’s iconic 1997 version of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Ora will portray the villainous Queen of Hearts.
