Post Malone and Swae Lee’s song “Sunflower” has just become the most-streamed song ever in the U.S. The track was part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack back in 2018. Now, more than five years later, it has made history.
Luminate, the company that tracks music data, says “Sunflower” has reached 3.96 billion audio and video streams in the U.S., which puts it ahead of “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X. That makes it the most-streamed song of all time in the country.
“Sunflower” was first released as a single in October 2018. It later showed up on Post Malone’s album Hollywood’s Bleeding. Right from the start, the song was a hit. It went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed in the top 10 for 33 weeks. At the time, that was one of the longest runs ever in the chart’s top ten.

After years of delays, progress on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse appears to finally be moving ahead steadily. The threequel to 2018's Into the Spider-Verse and 2023's Across the Spider-Verse was initially slated for release in early 2024, but the film was shelved indefinitely by Sony Animation. After rewrites and a reset on the film's production, Shameik Moore is finally getting ready to return as Miles Morales. But the actor recently revealed that the third film in the trilogy will feature a lot more of Miles than fans were expecting.
Shameik Moore recently spoke to @liamlovesmovies at the Tribeca Film Festival to promote his new movie, One Spoon of Chocolate (written and directed by Wu-Tang's RZA), and the actor was asked if he could reveal anything about Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Shameik Moore jokingly said, "I'm in it," attempting to duck the question. When the interviewer pointed out that Moore has two...

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was announced for a March 2024 release. Unfortunately, what was once only a one-year wait for the resolution to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's big cliffhanger will now be four years by the time we sit down to watch the threequel.
Concerns about a release date delay started when the movie's cast admitted they hadn't seen a script or recorded any lines while promoting the second movie. A delay seemed inevitable, and details about what to expect from Beyond the Spider-Verse have been few and far between since that came.
Shameik Moore plays Miles Morales in the animated franchise, and during a brief red carpet interview, he revealed that we'll see three versions of his Spider-Man in the movie.
The interviewer seemed to be under the impression that Moore voices Miles G. Morales, a.k.a. Earth-42's Prowler. In reality, Jharrel Jerome plays him, so...

Once there, Montauk townies, preppy uptowners, humble fans of tech-house, scene kids, and everything in between get treated to sets from the biggest names in dance, rap, and pop. Post Malone brought some star power to close out Coachella 2025, tapping both Ed Sheeran and Jelly Roll to join him during his headlining set on Sunday night.
Jelly came out first, taking the stage with Post to perform “Losers,” their collaboration on Post Malone’s country debut album F-1 Trillion. Sheeran came out after, performing Swae Lee’s vocals on Malone and Lee’s diamond smash “Sunflower.”
Malone wrapped the festival days after Morgan Wallen released their latest collaboration “I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” the follow up to last year’s “I Had Some Help.” If last year was any indication, the new single is likely a contender for song of the summer.
Sheeran performed at the festival earlier this weekend before his surprise Sunday night, playing Saturday afternoon after being announced as a surprise performer for weekend two earlier this month. Weezer took the Saturday slot for weekend one,...

Sheeran assisted on “Sunflower,” taking the place of Malone’s original studio collaborator Swae Lee on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. “Holy fuck,” Malone noted of Sheeran’s appearance. “I didn’t even know he was here tonight.”

Sneaks, directed by Rob Edwards and Christopher Jenkins, opens with the sonic sprawl of New York City—subway rattles, street corner chatter, the ambient pulse of a city that rarely sleeps. Within this stylized urban sprawl, the film introduces a world where sneakers possess consciousness, emotion, and a fractured sense of purpose.
The conceit is knowingly absurd, and yet the movie treats it with earnest visual commitment, inviting its audience to follow a pair of gold-and-white Alchemy 24s, separated by theft and circumstance, across a city drawn with exaggerated lines and kinetic motion.
The central figures—Ty (Anthony Mackie), a self-serious sneaker convinced his destiny lies in permanent display; Maxine (Chloe Bailey), the spirited counterpart who insists on being used—carry the thematic weight of the film. Their voices are not merely animated; they echo the tension between preservation and purpose, between being admired and being worn. Supporting them are the slick-talking J.

The animated anthropomorphic shoe movie “Sneaks” reminds me a lot of Werner Herzog, and not just because one time he ate a freakin’ shoe.
The director of “Fitzcarraldo” and “Aguirre, the Wrath of God” also claimed that humanity was “starving for new images,” a challenge many filmmakers have taken to heart. I cannot say with absolute certainty that Herzog will think highly of a film in which a phalanx of living footwear marches through Central Park in the middle of the night as giant murder rats dart at them from the shadows, slaughtering each shoe one by one. But I’m pretty sure he’d have to concede that yes, this really is a new image. Well played, “Sneaks.”

The strangest thing about Sneaks, a new animated movie co-directed by Rob Edwards and Christopher Jenkins and written by Edwards (Captain America: Brave New World, The Princess and the Frog), isn’t that shoes become sentient beings, but that a stacked cast is squandered on such a plodding and predictable story.
Anthony Mackie, Martin Lawrence, Swae Lee, Laurence Fishburne, Chloe Bailey and Macy Gray, among many others, lend their voices to the footwear and people that populate this fictionalized New York City. And while their performances are solid, they lack the energy one might reasonably expect from such a talented ensemble.
The issues largely stem from a narrative reliant on, instead of merely riddled with, clichés. A story of a kid trying to achieve his dreams or a reunion between a shoe and his other half need not be deep, but it should feel inspired, whether through the animation or...

The rise of sneakerhead culture has infiltrated every area of style worldwide. What was once limited to sportswear has become a multi-national business. Sneaks takes the basic premise of sneaker culture and anthropomorphizes the very item being collected. Like Toy Story or Cars, the animation team develops unique ways to bring everyday items to life. While the attempt to highlight sneakerhead culture, and by extension, Black culture, is well-intentioned, the stylized animation does not always hold up its end of the bargain. It makes Sneaks a fun but ineffective experience for adults. Kids will likely still find something to enjoy, but it could drive parents crazy.

After a commanding slew of spring 2024 releases and a prolific hip-hop beef with Drake, Compton's Kendrick Lamar has solidified himself as the greatest rapper alive. If the sold-out Juneteenth concert at the Kia Forum was Kendrick's victory lap after Record Of The Year contender "Not Like Us" decidedly knocked Drake out of the competition, consider his sixth studio album Gnx – named after his beloved limited edition 1987 Buick Regal variant – his newly renovated trophy case. Kendrick is celebrated beyond his rap abilities as a poetic songwriter, an impactful community leader, and a distinctively rare generational voice who simultaneously reflects and defines culture.
Kendrick hopes to add to his long list of accolades – which includes 17 Grammy Awards, 5 Number-One songs on the Billboard Top 100, and a Pulitzer Prize – at the 2025 Grammys in February, which takes place one week before his highly-anticipated Super Bowl Lix Halftime Show. Kendrick first gained a fanbase as K.

It’s hard to tell how much the recording academy loves Post Malone, but at the very least they seem to like him a lot. He hasn’t actually won an award yet, but he’s regularly nominated in top categories. Now the genre-hopping artist is entering uncharted territory: country music. Will it be his ticket to a win?
Malone has two previous Grammy nominations for Album of the Year: “Beerbongs and Bentleys” in 2019 and “Hollywood’s Bleeding” in 2021. He’s also one of the few artists in history to receive three consecutive noms for Record of the Year: “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage in 2019, “Sunflower” with Swae Lee in 2020 and “Circles” in 2021. Rounding out his impressive general field track record is a Song of the Year bid for “Circles” in 2021. In all, the eclectic artist has been nominated 10 times, including genre bids in pop and rap categories. Alas, no victories as of yet.

Take yourself back to 2015 for a second, and imagine someone came up to you and said, “That kid who made ‘White Iverson’ — nine years from now he’s going to be one of the biggest country music stars on the planet.” Maybe it’d seem inconceivable. But even then there was plenty of reason and evidence to believe Post Malone could pull off exactly the kind of country pivot he has in 2024.

The 2018 film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, was a boldly stylistic and striking foray into the flagging superhero genre, and featured a wild multi-dimensional story that brought multiple Spider-People (and a Spider-Pig) together from various threads in Marvel Comics canon. The main character was Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), although audiences also met a few versions of the original Spider-Man Peter Parker as well. Critics and audiences loved "Into the Spider-Verse," and the film would go on to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
The 2023 sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" resembled "The Matrix Reloaded" in many ways. Lil Nas X has become one of the leading pop stars of his generation, especially for his contributions to LGBTQ+ and Black music in the 21st century. His rise to fame started with “Old Town Road,” which quickly became a massive hit and set the record for the most weeks at number-one on the Billboard Hot 100. Such success often comes with awards recognition, so it’s not a surprise that the song was nominated for three Grammys, taking home two of those. Let’s take a look back at Nas’s journey to the Grammy stage.
While “Old Town Road” was a hit pretty much from the get-go — particularly its remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus — a lot of hits get snubbed by the Grammys, so awards weren’t guaranteed. It also probably didn’t help that he was likely expected to be a one-hit wonder. Perceptions started to change when...

No one would make a better choice to helm the soundtrack to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse than Metro Boomin, the trap whiz with albums like Not All Heroes Wear Capes and Heroes & Villains in his discography. Part of a recent renaissance for blockbuster soundtracks (Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé respectively curated the music for Black Panther and The Lion King of late), this latest lends new meaning to the term “spider verse,” with plenty of web-slinging bars from Offset, A$AP Rocky, 21 Savage, Future and an equally superpowered cast of melodic rappers of the moment.
