Quick Links The Technical Category Snubs Are Embarrassing for the Academy The 2025 Best Picture Nominations
Ever since I was a teenager, I have woken up early to see the Oscar nominations announced. Every other day, it's nearly impossible to get me out of bed before 7 am, but the day the Academy Award nominations are announced, I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. So, on Jan. 23, 2025, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter, away to my phone flew like a flash to what nominations had just come to pass.
I had already prepared myself that some movies that I personally would have nominated were not going to happen, since that would require members of the Academy to remember movies that came out before October and also see movies that maybe didn't have the budget to campaign and send screeners and would require them to sign in to...

Chris Evans’s journey in the MCU as Captain America was nothing short of epic. He started with a stand-alone film and went on to become one of the franchise’s most pivotal characters, ultimately retiring in Endgame after choosing to live out his days with Peggy in the past. Regardless of what Evans does in the future, Captain America will always be one of his most iconic roles.
Meanwhile, Josh Brolin has also had an extensive career in comic book movies, with Thanos being his most notable role, although far from his only one. Unlike Evans, whose transition into the world of comic books was expected, Brolin, known for his more serious and complex roles, brought an unexpected and valuable presence to the superhero genre.
So, while it’s clear that both Evans and Brolin have portrayed a fair share of comic book characters, the question remains: who has played more?...

Chris Evans’s MCU journey as Captain America, who made his film debut in a stand-alone film and went on to become one of the MCU’s most significant characters until retiring in Endgame and choosing to stay with Peggy in the past, was an epic one and whatever Evans does, Captain America will remain with him as one of his most popular roles of all time.
At the same time, Josh Brolin also has a very rich comic book movie career, with Thanos being the most significant comic book role he’s played, although it is not the only one. While Evans’ inclusion in the world of comic books is not surprising, Josh Brolin generally plays more serious and/or complex roles, which is why his presence in this world was both surprising and beneficial for the world of superhero comics.

Let’s talk about a rivalry that you might be ignoring. Josh Brolin vs Chris Evans. It has been more than half a decade since we have witnessed Captain America and The Mad Titan go toe-to-toe against each other, with their last appearances in Marvel’s Avengers Endgame. But for Josh Brolin and Chris Evans, the clash just transmuted into a race. A race to determine who plays the most number of comic book characters on screen.
Ladies and Gentlemen, in the right corner, we have his insane range, from being the optimistic and charming Captain America to the brooding bad boy Lucas Lee in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, we have none other than Chris Evans, and on the right corner. The Mad Titan, the Man in Black, with a rep so dark that even his Marvel roles feel straight out of DC Universe to the Marvel Jesus himself – Josh Brolin.

After debuting as Fantastic Four's Johnny Storm, Captain America actor Chris Evans was in two DC movies that you probably never heard of. Chris Evans now boasts two MCU roles after his Johnny Storm made a surprise cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine in July. The fate of Evans' Steve Rogers, meanwhile, is up in the air now that he passed on the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson and aged significantly, although his tenure in the MCU may continue within the context of the Multiverse Saga.
Evans was one of the most prolific comic book movie actors even before his iconic MCU legacy was established. He is also known for portraying one of Ramona's ex-boyfriends, Lucas Lee, in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World in 2010, one year before Captain America: The First Avenger. Coincidentally, the super soldier role for which he is most well known continues a trend...

Chris Evans opened up about why he was hesitant to take on the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Evans admitted he feared that his career would be over after taking on the Marvel role. While filming the 2011 movie Captain America: The First Avenger, which was the fifth MCU film, the actor detailed how he felt. “This is it. I just signed my death warrant; my life’s over. I can’t believe I did this. This isn’t the career I wanted,” he said. “The biggest thing I was worried about was making sh*tty f**king movies. I don’t want to make sh*tty movies and be contractually obligated to make garbage.” Evans’ fears were eased when he realized the Captain America movies were good.

With Avengers: Endgame slowly disappearing from the limelight, it looks like Chris Evans has officially ended his long-running tenure as Captain America. While it was a bittersweet moment for sure, fans are beginning to accept the changes which have recently hit the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and if one thing’s certain, it’s that the future is going to look very different moving forward.
In the midst of his departure from the McU though, some folks have started to look at his entire filmography and discovered something quite intriguing. Throughout the last two decades, Chris has played over a half a dozen comic book roles spanning close to 20 movies. While a good chunk of that can be attributed to his stint as Captain America, if you dig deeper, you’ll find he has quite an extensive history of characters which got their start in comics.
