This film was promoted with a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last Thursday – and during that panel, Harlin revealed that the audience reaction to Chapter 1 inspired him to go back for some additional photography on the sequels (he didn’t want to call them reshoots) to drop in some more information about the villains.

At The Strangers: Chapter 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Renny Harlin addressed the reshoots the film underwent — although the director prefers to call them “enhancements.”

“It’s purely from listening to the audience. The first movie came out, and we got a lot of feedback from the fans and regular moviegoers,” Harlin told the crowd.

“We realized that, while we had crafted this four-and-a-half hour movie that we had broken into three chapters, there was definitely room for learning from the audience experience and listening to the fact that the audience was interested in some things that we were not exploring enough yet.

“One of those is the fact that people wanted to know more about the Strangers. We are not saying what their names are and where they live and if they like lasagna,” he smiles.

Speaking at San Diego Comic Con, the team behind The Strangers reveals that the second and third movies went through "enhancements." The Strangers was originally a 2008 horror movie written and directed by Bryan Bertino. It is now being remade into a trilogy directed by Renny Harlin.

The first movie in that trilogy, The Strangers: Chapter 1, was released last year. The film featured a leading cast including Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez. Harlin is now preparing for the release of The Strangers: Chapter 2 in September and The Strangers: Chapter 3, with a release date still to come.

In an interview with ScreenRant at Sdcc, Petsch, Harlin, and producer Courtney Solomon reflect on the filming process and reveal a key post-production detail. Petsch and Harlin started by talking about the benefits of filming back-to-back. Solomon then chimed in to add that the team "did enhancements for 2 and 3," shooting over 20 days of new content.

The Strangers: Chapter 2 hopes to leave audiences even more frightened than they were upon seeing its predecessor.

Anyone who has followed the story knows that the adaptation of Don Roff’s Clare at 16 novel went through various stages before reaching its final form. On Wednesday (July 2), it was announced that the four actresses will be starring in the new indie friendship drama movie Pretty Babies, written and directed by Tyler-Marie Evans. The movie will mark Tyler-Marie‘s feature debut.

And much like Halloween II, this Chapter 2 is also set inside a hospital. The upcoming film will also further explore the mysterious town of Venus, Oregon, and the official trailer suggests that we may be learning more about the masked killers and why they do what they do.

Then again, as one character remarks, “Does there have to be a why?” That’s been the M.O. of The Strangers from the beginning, with the lack of a motive exemplifying the chilling pointlessness of the horror on display in Bryan Bertino’s terrifying original movie.

Lock your doors and keep a weapon close because the wait is finally over — The Strangers — Chapter 2 trailer is finally here. The follow-up to the 2024 home invasion film and the latest addition to the franchise is set for a cinematic arrival later this year and fans couldn’t be more excited to unravel the next chapter. Serving as the second part of what will eventually become a trilogy, the movie will pick up directly following the events of the previous film.

When we last left off with final girl, Maya (Madelaine Petsch), she was lying in a hospital bed recovering from the harrowing events that claimed the life of her boyfriend, Ryan (Froy Gutierrez). The final moments of The Strangers: Chapter 1 left things on a bit of a cliffhanger, which means the sophomore installment will likely take off like rocket fuel as Maya tries to escape from her masked pursuers all over again.

While we wait for the trailer tomorrow (June 24), Lionsgate has released the official poster for The Strangers: Chapter 2 this afternoon. It comes with the tagline “Survival was just the beginning,” a reference to the film continuing the nightmare experienced by final girl Maya (Madelaine Petsch) in The Strangers: Chapter 1. Both upcoming sequels to The Strangers: Chapter 1 were filmed at the very same time by director Renny Harlin (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Deep Blue Sea).

Director Renny Harlin shot an entire trilogy of Strangers movies at the same time, and while there was a point when it looked like Lionsgate might be releasing all three of the movies within 2024, that idea has clearly been pushed aside. The Strangers: Chapter 1 (read our review Here) reached theatres back in May of 2024, and The Strangers: Chapter 2 won’t be reaching theatres until September 26, 2025. A teaser trailer for Chapter 2 dropped online eight months ago, and a full trailer is expected to be released tomorrow, June 24th. But before we get there, Lionsgate has launched a viral marketing website at VisitVenusOregon.com, a faux tourism site for the town where this trilogy takes place. There’s plenty of stuff to check out on that website – and if you look in the right place, you’ll unearth a hidden teaser for tomorrow’s trailer!

In-universe marketing websites seem to be all the rage at the moment, with recent films including Bring Her Back and 28 Years Later launching their own. This type of thing is nothing new, of course, but it continues to be a fun way to build out the world of any given movie.

Saint Clare, the 2024 thriller from director Mitzi Peirone and co-writer Guinevere Turner, investigates the mind of a seemingly ordinary teenager turned serial killer. Based on Don Roff’s novel Clare At 16, the film stars Bella Thorne as Clare Bleecker, a devout Catholic school pupil whose veneer of piety conceals a sociopathic alter ego. 101 Films has acquired the UK rights and will release the film on digital from 21 July 2025.

Thorne is joined by Rebecca De Mornay as Clare’s steely grandmother, Ryan Phillippe as Timmons, a local boy drawn into Clare’s deadly orbit, and Frank Whaley as Mailman Bob, whose fateful deliveries set Clare on her path. On Monday (April 21), the 30-year-old actress shared snapshots of her and the 35-year-old rapper attending Coachella together. In the photos, the two embraced with their arms around each other, while Madelaine leaned on Tyga‘s shoulder.

A once pulse-pounding horror franchise has flatlined. Jigsaw's next killing spree was officially shelved on Monday after Lionsgate removed Saw 11 from its schedule and swapped in horror sequel The Strangers: Chapter 2 in its place.

Originally intended for a Fall 2024 release, the sequel was punted to the Sept. 26, 2025 date that The Strangers sequel now inherits. Despite the track record of delays, the latest puts the franchise's future in flux. Production warfare has plagued the project since its Spring 2024 announcement. Saw 11 co-writer Patrick Melton provided insight into the stall, telling The Hollywood Reporter:

“The reason it’s held up is just, there’s inter-squabbling between producers and Lionsgate. They just can’t quite get on the same page.”

The grim update gets bleaker. According to Bloody Disgusting, a source "verified as being close to the production of its newest sequel.

Maybe it's not over for the Saw franchise after all, at least not if Billy the Puppet has to say anything about it.

On Monday, Lionsgate released a fun little statement (finally) addressing the ongoing Saw debacle, using the franchise's honorary mascot to do so.

“I’ve seen the rumors. They say it’s Game Over. You all should know me better than that. The game is never over," says the statement, exclusively shared by The Hollywood Reporter.

There you have it, folks. Saw will probably be back in the future. Admittedly, this statement doesn't do much to assuage fears about the fate of Saw XI but it seems like Lionsgate wanted to make it clear that they have no intentions of completely abandoning the billion-dollar grossing film series.

Saw X was the best-reviewed movie in the entire franchise, which started with the 2004 original from James Wan and Leigh Whannell.

Madelaine Petsch has now unveiled a chilling glimpse of the next installment in The Strangers saga. The actress, who will reprise the role of Maya Lucas from Strangers: Chapter 1, took to social media to share a release date and first image of the sequel, The Strangers: Chapter 2. In the picture, a bloody Petsch cuts an eerie figure as she looks straight into the camera..and deep down into our souls. The Riverdale star captioned the first look: "strangers chapter 2. only in theaters 9/26."

In a statement, Petsch revealed that the team behind the sequel was working to make the follow-up film "as terrifying as possible." The Strangers: Chapter 2 lands in theaters just a little over a year after Chapter 1 hit the big screen and right in time for Halloween. Renny Harlin returns to direct.
