Raye is a British singer-songwriter and record producer known for her soulful voice, genre-blending sound, and powerful lyricism. After first gaining attention through early EPs and collaborations with artists like Jax Jones and Jonas Blue, she rose to prominence as an independent artist following her split from Polydor Records. Her debut album My 21st Century Blues (2023) earned critical acclaim and commercial success, led by the global hit "Escapism," which topped the UK Singles Chart and reached the US Billboard Hot 100.
Renowned for her artistry that fuses jazz, R&B, pop, and soul, Raye often draws on personal and social themes in her songwriting, exploring vulnerability, empowerment, and self-discovery. In 2024, she made history at the Brit Awards by winning six categories, the most ever achieved by a single artist in one ceremony, including British Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. The same year, she was named among BBC's 100 Women and received Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year.
Beyond her own recordings, Raye has co-written songs for major artists such as Beyoncé, Charli XCX, John Legend, and Little Mix. She has also performed at leading festivals including Glastonbury and Montreux and collaborated with figures like Mark Ronson, Central Cee, and Lalisa Manobal. Following the success of My 21st Century Blues, Raye began work on her second studio album, anticipated for release in 2026.
