8 Actors Who Were Fired from Successful TV Shows
Image
Unlike movies, TV shows are longer commitments and are more personal to their audiences. There is something about watching the characters live out their lives directly at one’s own homes that makes their journeys all the more personal. Hence, many actors are aware that when a series gets picked up, they might be in it for the long haul.

While most shows try to keep their actors consistent, many have made the difficult decision to let some of them go due to various reasons. Be it their off-screen behavior, controversial statements, or just their characters not being integral to the plot anymore, here are eight actors who were fired from popular TV shows.

Hazbin Hotel’s Controversial Season 1 Group Recasting Explained
Image
Five long years after Vivziepop’s 2019 release of the Hazbin Hotel YouTube pilot “That’s Entertainment!”, the animated musical series returned for its first season on Amazon Prime. However, the highly-anticipated release of Hazbin Hotel season 1 brought with it a major change that was met with criticism from the series’ cult following.

Between the 2019 release of the YouTube pilot and the 2024 release of season 1 via Amazon Prime and A24, Vivziepop re-auditioned each major role, leading to a group recasting of Hazbin Hotel. This new Hazbin Hotel season 1 cast was met with a good deal of pushback from Hellaverse fans who had been following the project since its Patreon-funded inception, and vague communication from the show creator led to speculation about the reasons behind this drastic change. However, the fact that Hazbin Hotel season 1 set a Prime Video streaming record seems to indicate that the change may have been for the better.

10 Best Characters From Hazbin Hotel Season 1, Ranked

Characters like Emily and Carmilla bring nuance and depth to the show, supporting Charlie in their own unique ways. Niffty and Husk are dedicated staff members who add humor and unexpected moments of clarity to the story. Angel Dust and Alastor stand out as complex and intriguing characters, adding depth and ambiguity to the show.

Hazbin Hotel, based on showrunner Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano's webcomic series of the same name, boasts an excellent cast of colorful characters who reside in a comical version of Hell (with a few characters who are residents of Heaven). While the TV show's lively protagonist Charlie Morningstar is on a mission to solve Hell's overpopulation problem by redeeming its residents at a rehabilitation hotel, she is surrounded by intriguing friends and enemies. Medrano released the show's pilot on YouTube back in 2019, after which an entire season was ordered by A24.

‘Hazbin Hotel’ Creator Vivienne Medrano, Songwriters Sam Haft & Andrew Underberg On Creating The Musical Series & Excitement For Season 2: “There’s Plenty More Bangers To Come”
Image
After the success of the pilot episode of Hazbin Hotel in 2019, Vivienne Medrano showed the potential that an adult animated musical series could offer. A potential that saw A24 joining into the animation space, with Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment as producer, leading to an eight episode season on Prime Video and a renewal for season 2. Joining Medrano on the project are songwriters Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg, who used multiple styles of music to give the series a more musical feeling than the pilot episode.

Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie Morningstar (Erika Henningsen), daughter of Lucifer and princess of Hell, who dreams of opening a hotel with the (likely impossible) goal of rehabilitating demons to stop Heaven from coming down and culling their population once a year. The Prime series takes place one week after the last extermination, when Charlie learns she has less time to prove her plan can...

Josh Brolin Shocked That He’s Not a Part of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: “I So Wanted to Be in That Movie”

One of the biggest upcoming MCU releases is most certainly ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ The movie marks several big things. It’s Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU and also the only MCU movie to be released in 2024, in the hopes of restoring at least some of the faith that the fans of the franchise lost in the last several years due to a string of several poorly received movies.

The recently released trailer also confirmed that several old faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises are going to be making a return, a few faces were however notably missing, Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.

Most of the fans were aware that Gina Carano likely won’t be reprising her role as the actress was let go due to “offensive” posts made on social media after which she was promptly fired by Disney. But fans were still holding...

The recently unveiled trailer also confirmed the return of several familiar faces from the ‘Deadpool’ and Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchises. However, notable absences include Angel Dust, Cable, and Domino.

Many fans anticipated that Gina Carano wouldn’t return to her role, as she was fired following “offensive” social media posts, leading to her swift termination by Disney. Despite this, fans clung to hope for Domino and Cable’s return, especially after their expanded roles were hinted at in ‘Deadpool 2.’

Hazbin Hotel explores many complex and dark themes, and it wouldn't be able to do this if its characters weren't equally dark. While the series is still hilarious and charming, characters like Alastor and Angel Dust show just how dark the world of Hazbin Hotel is.

Hazbin Hotel’s Musical Storytelling

This….. Is musical storytelling at its finest. Ever and scoring rave reviews from both critics and audiences, with Decider’s Raven Brunner praising the “queer, raunchy, and fun” animated series for its “exciting character arcs” and “thrilling story.”

Indeed, one doesn’t have to look too hard at Hazbin Hotel’s unique animation and art style, shockingly dense plot and lore, and unabashedly vulgar sense of humor to see why it’s amassed such a large audience so quickly.

Hazbin Hotel: 10 Characters Who Need More Screentime in Season 2
Image
Season 1 of Hazbin Hotel was a massive success, with one of the most popular aspects of the show being its characters. Fan-favorites like Angel Dust and Alastor, the series' good-natured protagonist, Charlie Morningstar, and Season 1's main villain, Adam, are all incredible, and receive ample amounts of screen time.

With only eight episodes to tell its story, it's understandable that some characters get more attention than others, but that doesn't stop viewers from wanting more from those who didn't receive much focus. Hazbin Hotel's cast is loved by fans, but not every character received the screentime they deserved in Season 1. These are just ten of the characters who deserve more screen time in Season 2.

Prime Video's original animated series, Hazbin Hotel was finally released, and since then, fans have been raving about the mature nature of the story. The series focuses on a group of demons who were sinners in life and sent to Hell as punishment. In an attempt to thin Hell's numbers, these demons decide to change their ways, hoping to redeem their souls and ascend to Heaven.

Review: Hazbin Hotel Finale Goes For Love & War

Created and directed by Vivienne Medrano, Hazbin Hotel is the co-production of animation studios SpindleHorse Toons and Bento Box in association with A24 and Amazon Studios. The main cast includes Erika Henningsen as Princess Charlotte "Charlie" Morningstar, Stephanie Beatriz as Vaggie, Blake Roman as Angel Dust, and Amir Talai as Alastor the Radio Demon, with Alex Brightman playing both Sir Pentious and the angel Adam, Jeremy Jordan as Lucifer Morningstar, and Keith David as Husk. Who Are the Best Hazbin Hotel Characters?
Image
The animated musical comedy Hazbin Hotel broke records with it having Amazon Prime's biggest streaming debut. The series introduces audiences to Charlie Morningstar, the princess of Hell, hell-bent on helping souls ascend into Heaven rather than stay forever in Hell. The show was once a YouTube sensation, and with it now being a full-blown series, longtime and new fans are tuning in.

What makes the show stand out is its eccentric band of characters and their relationship with one another. Due to the show being set in Hell, there are a lot of demons with varying character designs and personality types, but only a few are the best of the best. While there are definitely bad apples like the V's and Adam, most of the cast shine brightly. Even though these souls are stuck in Hell, a lot of them dawn a halo in the audience's minds.

How ‘Hazbin Hotel’ Explores What It Means to Be Human in a Hellish Place
Image
[This story contains mild spoilers for season one of Hazbin Hotel.]

“On paper, there’s a lot of people that might say no to something like this — a very raunchy animated musical comedy world written by a young woman,” Hazbin Hotel star Stephanie Beatriz tells The Hollywood Reporter. But for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Encanto actress, showrunner Vivienne Medrano’s “weird, cool, fantastical imagination” has produced a series that is not only “delightfully horny, unhinged and ridiculous,” but uniquely special beyond its “small minutiae of cock jokes.

“It somehow manages to have this throughline of true gay love and this very big idea about whether it’s possible to redeem a soul, to change after being damned for all time,” she says of A24’s first foray into animation and Prime Video’s latest push into the medium’s R-rated adult space. “I just love Vivienne’s world-building.”

Broadway star and lead voice actress Erika Henningsen offers similar praise.

In an exclusive interview with MovieWeb, the creator behind A24 and Amazon Prime Videos Hazbin Hotel, Vivienne Medrano, has revealed that she would love to take the show to Broadway. Hazbin Hotel, which revolves around the princess of Hell, Charlie Morningstar, began life first as a web series and now as a series on Prime Video. The series features the voices of several major Broadway stars, including Erika Henningsen as the lead, with Medrano saying she would “absolutely...

Hazbin Hotel Star Jeremy Jordan Channeled Robin Williams’ Genie to Play Lucifer
Image
Jeremy Jordan channeled Robin Williams' Genie from Aladdin for his portrayal of Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel, attempting to be constantly funny and insecure. Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano praises Jordan's charm and singing ability, saying he brought a lot to the role of Lucifer. Hazbin Hotel premiered on Prime Video with the first four episodes, and a second season has been confirmed.

Robin Williams famously voiced the shape-shifting and wish granting Genie for Disney's Aladdin, improvising most of his lines. The role gained Williams critical praise, and the character remains one of the most beloved in animated film history. While Williams' Genie, who provides much of the comic relief in Aladdin, might not seem like the obvious source of inspiration for an actor portraying Lucifer, it's precisely who Hazbin Hotel's Jeremy Jordan tried to channel for his version of the King of Hell. During a recent interview, Jordan told...

Hazbin Hotel's "Loser Baby" Song Explained: Lyrics & Where To Listen
Image
"Loser, Baby" perfectly captures the quirky and contradictory nature of Hazbin Hotel. The song highlights the evolving friendship between Husk and Angel Dust, showcasing their shared experiences as losers. Fans can listen to "Loser, Baby" on Prime Video, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music, along with other musical numbers from Hazbin Hotel.

Hazbin Hotel's musical number, "Loser, Baby," perfectly represents everything the adult animated musical comedy series is about. The song appeared in season 1, episode 4, "Masquerade," which predominantly focuses on the character of Angel Dust (Blake Roman), the first resident of the titular Hazbin Hotel. Unsurprisingly, "Lost, Baby" has struck quite a chord with audiences, with the vocal performances from Roman and legendary actor Keith David perfectly capturing the quirky, wildly contradictory nature of Hazbin Hotel.

The Prime Video series, created by artist Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano, premiered its first four episodes on January 18, 2024. Four more episodes are expected to drop on...

‘Hazbin Hotel’ Episodes 1–4 Recap Spoilers: Who Killed The Angel?
Image
I didn’t think I needed to see an adult animated series made solely around the concept of Hell and Heaven, but Hazbin Hotel has changed my mind. In this trippy and weird animated musical about the politics of damnation and redemption, one can feel like the makers have taken inspiration from old cartoons and infused some dark themes that we generally reserve for gritty dramas. There is a witty story drawn from Adam and Eve describing how Hell was formed, and soon we are plunged into Hell, the origin of all monstrosity, but Heaven has its part to play in it as well. The cheeky and blasphemous nature of the series makes it a risky adventure, but there are some interesting characters in the show that are skillfully explored within this microcosm.

Spoilers Ahead

How Did The Hazbin Hotel Come Into Existence?

Hazbin Hotel Creator Vivienne Medrano and Broadway Stars Jessica Vosk and Daphne Rubin-Vega Talk New Show
Image
There’s a special place in hell — literally — for second chances, and it’s the Hazbin Hotel. That’s also the name of Prime Video’s wildly inventive new animated series featuring Broadway stars from the likes of Jeremy Jordan (The Last Five Years) and Lilli Cooper (SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical) to Jessica Vosk (Elphaba in Wicked) and Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent).

Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie (Erika Henningsen of Broadway’s Mean Girls) as the princess of Hell. She's on her ill-fated quest to rehabilitate demons, so she can reduce overpopulation. Papa Lucifer (Jordan) may not be totally jazzed about the noble effort, but Charlie prays that her new hotel helps those checking in so that they can check out and head up to Heaven. Why Hazbin Hotel Season 1 Is Releasing 5 Years After The Pilot
Image
Hazbin Hotel, a unique adult animated series, will finally release its first season in January 2024, despite its pilot airing five years ago in 2019. The show is set in Hell and follows Charlie Morningstar, a princess aiming to solve overpopulation by opening a rehabilitation hotel. It features interesting characters like Charlie, her girlfriend Vaggie, and the mischievous Radio Demon Alastor. The delay in Hazbin Hotel's release can be attributed to its creator, Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano, starting out on YouTube and the animation process taking longer, exacerbated by the SAG-AFTRA strike and the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the series promises to be worth the wait, with LGBTQ+ representation and a captivating setting.

Amazon Prime Video is slated to release the first season of Hazbin Hotel in January 2024, and while this show is incredibly unique in its own right, one particularly interesting detail about the show is that its pilot already aired five...
