The Entertainment Community Fund has set its sights on Warner Bros. Television Group for top honors at an upcoming gala in New York City.

The studio division, led by chairman and CEO Channing Dungey, has been selected to receive a medal of honor during the gala, set for Manhattan’s New York Marriott Marquis on April 8. Additional honorees at the event include mogul and multihyphenate Seth MacFarlane, and Olivier and Tony award-winning producer Sonia Friedman (Funny Girl, The Book of Mormon).

“We are so honored to be recognized by the Entertainment Community Fund, an outstanding organization that has helped actors and artists for more than 140 years. In the wake of the pandemic and last year’s strikes, the work of the fund continues to be more critical than ever. Everyone at the Warner Bros. Television Group is proud to support the Fund and their incredible efforts,” offered Dungey in a statement.

A slew of stars came together to say cheese and help raise north of $2.5 million in West Hollywood on Saturday night at the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s 17th annual Evening Before benefit. Co-chaired by Quinta Brunson and Bob Odenkirk, the annual event takes place ahead of the Emmy Awards, and this weekend’s installment shifted to the new year to follow the TV Academy’s celebration due to the dual strikes last summer.

“We’ve had quite a year, and this organization and its fundraiser has helped many weather the storm,” said Brunson. Added Odenkirk, “I’m thrilled to be a co-chair of MPTF’s Evening Before benefit with Quinta. MPTF really stepped up during a very challenging year to support the entertainment community, and I’m proud to be a part of a fundraiser that will help to sustain that vital support.

The special drops on the streaming platform on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, and will also be accompanied by an album launching on that same date.

Apple TV+ released the trailer for “Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas” Wednesday, and the Christmas music special promises a “festive extravaganza” packed with the “Ted Lasso” stars Broadway-ready vocals and surprise guests.

The special debuts globally on Nov. 22 on Apple TV+. Appearances already named include those of Waddingham’s “Ted Lasso” costar Phil Dunster, Luke Evans, Leslie Odom Jr. and Sam Ryder. Waddingham will sing Christmas classics during the hour-long special. A companion album will launch on the same date and be made available on all music streaming platforms.

AFC Richmond brought some of its top players and an esteemed journalist to the Monte-Carlo Television Festival after the soccer team at the heart of Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” concluded its final season.

Kola Bokinni, Billy Harris, Cristo Fernandez and James Lance bid a fond farewell to the show in Monaco. But is it truly good-bye? When asked about it, Harris replied: “We’re still pretty much together. We were in L.A. last week, and now we’re in Monte-Carlo. I suppose we’re enjoying the fruits of our labor.” Lance chimed in, saying: “The show may be over, but we’re just getting started, aren’t we? We’re still here, having a great time.”

When it comes to those hoping for a fourth season, Lance said: “There’s always hope.” His co-stars echoed together, “Believe,” the rallying cry that their manager, Ted Lasso, instilled in the team.

"Ted Lasso" was adept at delivering the thrills of a sports drama, with the fall and rise of an underground English football team, while also telling a beautiful story about community, mental health, self-improvement, and being open about emotions.

After three seasons, "Ted Lasso" is seemingly, apparently, as far as we know, done and over. After two very strong seasons, the final season was a very mixed bag, with a lack of focus thanks to longer episodes that dragged on, a sermon-of-the-week format that seemed to take away from the joy of earlier seasons, and a misguided football story that was too obsessed with winning — until it wasn't.

This is (kind of) a football show, of course, meaning the characters' careers and stories carry on after the end of the finale. We know Ted Lasso's career at AFC Richmond is over,...

All season long, the people who make Ted Lasso have been somewhat coy about whether the end of their planned three-season arc would mark the end of the series. The last installment of season three, “So Long, Farewell,” played no such games. All ticket holders were informed of the cancellation Thursday morning, and should receive an automatic refund. Plans have been scrapped to mark the Apple TV+ “Ted Lasso” Season 3 finale with a major Paley Center-sponsored celebration in Beverly Hills on May 30.

It’s been a tough time in Hollywood and beyond as the Writers Guild strike shut down production of just about every kind of entertainment — and lots of parties and events, too. Canceled/postponed celebrations included the MTV Movie & TV Awards, the 49th AFI Lifetime Achievement Award: A Tribute to Nicole Kidman, the Critics Choice Inaugural Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television and many others.

But music festivals like the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival marked the early beginning of summer fest season and Netflix helped launch Pride Month early with a huge “All Out” celebration in West Hollywood. Meanwhile, “The Little Mermaid” swam into Hollywood for a lavish premiere and SeriesFest: Chapter 9 took over Denver. So all is not lost in the world of Parties & Premieres, but we sure hope that Hollywood writers get the raises they deserve and go back to work very soon.

One of the best moments of “Ted Lasso” Season 3 came in this week’s “La Locker Room Aux Folles” and if you looked away for 10 seconds you’d have missed it. During halftime of a Premier League match, right after Isaac (Kola Bokinni) has gone into the stands to fight a homophobic AFC Richmond supporter, the captain hands his band to Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) to take his spot in his absence. Puncturing the seriousness, Jamie (Phil Dunster) and Sam have a playful back-and-forth about who should have it. Jamie playfully gestures to send the armband his way. Sam flips him off with a smile.

It’s a reminder of what “Ted Lasso” hasn’t been in recent weeks. Season 3 has largely become a bundle of ideas and thought exercises cobbled together in place of having any bigger plan. There was a throughline in the show’s opening season about gaining...

After several nearly hour-long installments, Ted Lasso comes in at a comparatively lean 44 minutes for “La Locker Room Aux Folles,” which despite its title and the opening and closing tunes on the soundtrack, is definitely not a farce about an elaborate attempt by anyone at Richmond to hide their true nature.

It does, however, bring some resolution to Colin’s (Billy Harris) coming out story and takes a big step in positioning Roy (Brett Goldstein) to become Richmond’s next manager if Ted (Jason Sudeikis) ends up heading back to Kansas at season’s end (and, of course, the even larger if of Apple TV+ continuing its biggest show even if its title character isn’t there anymore).

“Ted Lasso” character Colin Hughes has had more time in the spotlight in Season 3 since he was revealed to be gay — and the development made sense to the actor playing him, Billy Harris. He said he began seeing the writing on the wall in Season 2.

Early on in Season 3, Colin is revealed to audiences to be gay, but his teammates don’t yet know. Journalist Trent Crimm (James Lance), who himself is gay, catches Colin kissing another man outside of Sam’s (Toheeb Jimoh) restaurant, and he confronts Colin about it. Isaac (Kola Bokinni) is also getting a sense that his teammate may be hiding his sexuality.

It’s fair to say that Ted Lasso has been something of a phenomenon, and continues to grip and entertain viewers as it reaches its third season, which is underway now on Apple TV+. Halfway through the season, which has episodes launching weekly on the platform, we had the pleasure in speaking with many of the familiar faces and affable characters that make up this heartwarming, and progressive comedy series.

Apple TV+ is opening its own FYC activation pop-up this year, taking over Hollywood’s Goya Studios to launch the “Think Apple TV+ FYC” space from May 1 to May 14.

The streamer’s signature Emmy-winning hit “Ted Lasso” will open the space on May 1 with a fan event that includes a series trivia game, followed by a conversation moderated by Yvette Nicole Brown (“Community”). Cast and creative team participating include series star and executive producer Jason Sudeikis, as well as Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Phil Dunster, Jeremy Swift, Kola Bokinni, Cristo Fernández, Billy Harris and James Lance. [This story contains spoilers for “Sunflowers,” episode six of Ted Lasso’s third season.]

Ted Lasso watchers have speculated that AFC Richmond player Colin Hughes (Billy Harris) is gay since early in season two, and those suspicions were confirmed in season three’s third episode.

With the April 19 episode, “Sunflowers,” Colin’s story took a big step forward as he acknowledged his sexuality — and the way he deals with living a closeted life among his teammates — to journalist Trent Crimm (James Lance) while the Richmond players had a night off in Amsterdam. Trent then shares with Colin that he’s gay as well, opening the door for Colin to — perhaps — tell his teammates and coaches.

“I think with Ted Lasso, you can understand exactly why footballers or sports stars would want to hide their true identity,” Harris tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Their work life is tough enough. … In this world, you’re never far from someone that’s going to make a joke like that.

In episode 5 of "Ted Lasso" season 3, the Greyhounds are coming off of a brutal loss to West Ham that knocks them even further down the Premier League power rankings. Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Richmond's owner and biggest champion, storms into Ted's office and yells, "Are we ever going to win another f***ing match?" Clearly, the team is spiraling and the pressure of joining the Premier League is mounting, causing a rift between Rebecca, the team, and the fans; a rift that's only growing larger week by week. 

Of course, the entire Richmond community wants their team to win and Ted has an obligation to make sure they're the best they can be. But season 3 as a whole has become a little too concerned with what's happening on the field and in episode 5, "Signs," the obsession with winning becomes too much of a focus for a show that's always chosen...

The “Big Week” of the title in this episode of Ted Lasso is AFC Richmond’s first meeting with West Ham, now led by former Greyhounds assistant Nate (Nick Mohammed). It’s a grudge match that gets extra grudge-y, even as Nate is still stewing in some very complicated feelings toward his former boss, Ted (Jason Sudeikis).

Apple TV+’s smash hit comedy series “Ted Lasso” features a mix of comedy, skilled soccer-playing and emotion-inducing vulnerability. Based on a character created and brought to life by Jason Sudeikis, the show has seen two very successful seasons launch, with lots of Emmy love, but with Season 3 on the way, how seriously does its cast take soccer?

The series quickly became a standout for its humor, sincerity, and refreshing take on mental health when it premiered in 2020. At first glance, Ted Lasso seems like a heartfelt show about a fish-out-of-water American football coach taking on a job across the pond coaching AFC Richmond. Sudeikis, in his role as the titular character, constantly has a smile on his face. However, as the show progresses, audiences learn about his mental health. Ted suffers a panic attack in the middle of a big game, and he hesitates to address the issue.

Jason Sudeikis and the rest of the cast of the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso will meet with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House on Monday to discuss the importance of addressing mental health and overall well-being.

Specifics on what will be discussed with the cast will be released on White House social channels.

As Apple TV+ prepped to roll out the blue carpet in Westwood this week for the Season 3 premiere of its Emmy Award-winning comedy juggernaut Ted Lasso, one question lingered in the air: Is this the end?

Ahead of the Tuesday night event, Ted Lasso himself, co-creator, star and executive producer Jason Sudeikis, got ahead of the inevitable press line interrogation to make it clear that the time on the Richmond scoreboard is, indeed, running out. “This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell,” Sudeikis told Deadline.

The 12-episode season debuts March 15 and continues through May 31, and while options remain on the field for spinoffs and future iterations (Richmond Till We Die, anyone?), Sudeikis made it clear that this is his final bow as the beloved “aw shucks” Midwesterner turned English Premier League soccer coach but he believes there is more life left.
