Hi-Fear is the final instalment of the trilogy that started in 2013 with Hi-8 and was followed in 2018 by Hi-Death. These anthologies have been tributes to the glory days of shot-on-video horror and were made by many of the pioneers of that movement. This time out, the framing segment “What Are You Afraid Of?”, written and directed by Brad Sykes from a story by Brad and Josephina Sykes introduces us to Natalie, an artist tasked with creating the splash pages for four tales of horror for the comic Hi-Fear.

Hi-Fear’s first story, “Losing It At The...

‘Clownado’ Review
Stars: Linnea Quigley, Eileen Dietz, Joel D. Wynkoop, John O’Hara, Rachel Lagen, Bobby Westrick, Antwoine Steele, Dilynn Fawn Harvey, Jeremy Todd, Douglas Epps | Written and Directed by Todd Sheets

Veteran low-budget show-on-video horror legend Todd Sheets sits back in his directors chair for Clownado, his new horror flick that he also wrote. Now, I’ve seen a bunch of Sheets films in the past, so I was excited to check this one out, his gory story of demonic clowns who embark upon a massacre with the use of… well, tornadoes of course. I mean, the sound of that alone was enough for me to double-shot my coffee cup, grab some snacks and sit in the dark with a big dumb grin on my face, ready to see Sheets in action again.

There are a mix of horror mainstays and legends in here, like Linnea Quigley (Return of the Living...

I’m a longtime fan of horror anthology films. I think it goes back to my love of short fiction, something I still really love to this day, and being able to get a snapshot of a story, a quick, often deliberate, sometimes hectic, slice of the chosen genre. Horror is a genre I’ve had a extended love affair with, and so mixing those two things together is a big plus for me. Released by Wild Eye Releasing, Hi-Death brings five new stories with it, each one different in tone, style and,...

Pass Horror Notes: ‘Bonehill Road’ Review
Bonehill Road

Stars: Eli DeGeer, Ana Rojas-Plumberg, Linnea Quigley, Millie Milan, Dilynn Fawn Harvey, Gary Kent, Douglas Epps | Written and Directed by Todd Sheets

Name: Bonehill Road

Age: 2018

Appearance: A low budget, gory horror directed by indie veteran Todd Sheets featuring practical effects, blood and guts. About a mother and daughter escaping an abusive relationship and falling prey to a cannibalistic sadist who kidnaps and tortures women. It’s a werewolf film.

Bonehill Road not Boner Road

So, where’s the werewolf?

Good question. They turn up at the beginning and at the end. Basically, mother and daughter Emily and Eden Stevens (played by Eli DeGeer and Ana Plumberg) escape a violent home and run into a werewolf, whereupon they escape and find themselves trapped by psychopath Coen Anders until the werewolves arrive at the end.

So, it’s a case of “where wolf?” Hahahaha!

Some people may feel short...

Clownado Trailer Unleashes a Gruesome Gore Tsunami of Killer Clowns
Sharknado ain't got nothing on the storm that is about to be unleashed by Extreme Entertainment. Today, they have dropped the first gore-filled trailer for Clownado, a torrential downpour of gruesome sights that will have you scared of killer clowns all over again.

Clownado arrives from writer and director Todd Sheets, who is no stranger to the horror genre. His goal with Clownado is to deliver a good, scary, splatter-infused roller coaster ride that is filled with loop-de-loops all the way to the end. It promises something new, fresh, original and unique. Yet, there is a very familiar sense of dread lingering around it's upper ribcage.

In turning Clownado into a true cult contender, Sheets has used only practical special make-up effects, and he is utilizing an old school VFX ethos that will have you fondly remembering such classics as Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Bad Taste and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
