The new episodes begin rolling out on Thanksgiving and continue on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve. The first official teaser trailer for “Stranger Things 5” arrived last week, followed soon after by social media rumors that the final season would run a tidy but daunting 19 hours long.

Don’t worry; series co-creator and showrunner Ross Duffer has officially debunked the “leaked” episode runtimes as false.

While it was highly circulated on social media that each of the final eight episodes would be feature-length, with many clocking in at two and a half hours or more, Ross Duffer shot those claims down via Instagram stories, stating that the rumored episode durations are “not even close to accurate.”

Of course, “Stranger Things” has featured robust runtimes before. The fourth season’s finale ran two hours and nineteen minutes, which only added plausibility to the circulating rumors. Especially as Duffer previously teased, “So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies.

Netflix’s Stranger Things already dropped the trailer for its forthcoming and final season on July 16, promising that Season 5 is going to be darker than ever. With the new season still months away, it has once again paved the path open for the deaths of fan-favorite characters or given new meaning to old scenes from the earlier seasons.

This left us thinking: what if the impending doom upon Hawkins is far greater than Vecna and the dark creatures from the Upside Down? What if the danger that they are so afraid of is amongst them and would turn up on them when they least expected it? We've been waiting for this for the past three years, but the first trailer for Stranger Things' fifth and final season is finally here. The sneak peek is suitably epic and is packed full of visual effects, and the promise of an epic conclusion to the series that first premiered on Netflix in 2016.

The story is still being kept largely under wraps, but we do get a first look at Terminator icon Linda Hamilton as the mysterious Dr. Kay and some huge set pieces.

Season five will arrive in three parts, beginning with the four-episode Volume 1 on November 26, 2025.

Tonight, Netflix finally announced the release dates for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, its flagship sci-fi horror series from creators Matt and Ross Duffer. Yes, release dates, plural. Stranger Things 5 will drop in not one, not two, but three batches of episodes. Volume I premieres November 26, Volume II will follow on Christmas Day, and The Finale premieres on New Year's Eve.

Stranger Things is arguably the most popular original show in Netflix's stable, so it's no surprise that they're going all out for the end of the series. But this is still an eye-brow raising announcement from the streamer. Volume I drops the day before Thanksgiving, so they're marking out all three end of the year holidays for Stranger Things. And on top of that, these episode drops all happen at 5:00 p.m.

Well, that link is about to be severed, with Stranger Things set to come to an end with its upcoming fifth and final season. Now, thanks to Netflix Tudum, we finally have our first details and some idea of what to expect from our final trip to Hawkins.

The streamer revealed the release date for the fifth and final season of the mega hit show, created by the Duffer Brothers, and it’s coming in three parts: the first debuting Nov. 26, the second Dec. 25, and the series finale Dec. 31.

Stranger Things Season 5 has already confirmed several Season 1 characters appearing in the upcoming fifth and final batch of episodes. Netflix's sci-fi epic will finally come to a close later this year, ending The Duffer Brothers' story of a group of teens battling the fierce forces of a hellish alternate dimension. 

Since its debut, one of the best parts of Stranger Things has been its killer cast of characters, several of whom have been a part of the story since Season 1 and will also appear in Season 5. Fans have been with characters like Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven and Finn Wolfhard's Mike Wheeler for nearly a decade at this point, so they have seen this lovable bunch of personalities grow up and will have to say goodbye with the release of Stranger Things Season 5. 

Season 5 still has no specific release date announced but is expected to debut on the service sometime this fall.
