Netflix is getting a little more magical this year. Two new specials from the “Unicorn Academy” universe are set to premiere on Netflix in 2025, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

The first of these specials is the hourlong “Legendary Summer,” which will premiere on April 9, a date that’s fittingly also known as National Unicorn Day. It will then be followed by the 44-minute “Winter Solstice” on Nov. 6.

“Legendary Summer” will focus on Layla (Kamaia Fairburn). “Wanting to make a unique discovery like her idol, Professor Faraday, Layla brings a Grimorian flower onto Unicorn Island that causes Glacier to lose her powers and puts all the world’s magic at stake,” a logline for the special reads. Variety has learned exclusively that the comedy duo, who star in the upcoming film “Good Burger 2,” will be onboard when the Burgermobile from the film takes part in the 97th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It was previously announced that the iconic car would be part of the parade, though Thompson and Mitchell’s participation was not known at that time. The car is described as weighing over 5,000 pounds, with a burger hood and french fry bumper. It can be seen in the teaser trailer for the film, which can be viewed below.

Mike Birbiglia Sets “The Old Man and the Pool” Comedy Special at Netflix

Following a run on both Broadway and in the West End, Mike Birbiglia is bringing his comedy special “The Old Man and the Pool” to Netflix for all to see.

The new special is Birbiglia’s fifth for the streamer, starting with 2008’s “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing” and up to his most recent, “The New One,” in 2019. “The Old Man and the Pool” sees Birbiglia “take on life’s big questions: why are we here? What’s next? Exactly how much chlorine are they putting in the Ymca pool?”

The show ran on Broadway from Nov. 13, 2022–Jan. 15, 2023, followed by its run in London’s West End from Sept. 12–Oct. 7. The hour-long special debuts on the streamer on Nov. 21.

Welcome back to Good Burger! After years of teasing a sequel, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are back for "Good Burger 2." On Aug. 21, Paramount+ dropped the first teaser, and it seems like no time has passed because Ed and Dex are up to their old antics. Then, on Oct. 30, the streamer dropped another full trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, teasing "the new adventures of Ed and Dex."

Per the new clip, it seems the duo's new adventures involve trying to hold onto their jobs as burger-serving robots take over their beloved restaurant that's on its way to becoming a global phenomenon.

Back in March, Jimmy Fallon and his crowd instantly went wild when Thompson and Mitchell revealed the "Good Burger 2" news on "The Tonight Show." "Ladies and gentlemen, Kel has something he would like to tell you," Thompson teased before handing the announcement over to his costar.

"Good Burger" is a rather unlikely success story of '90s kids' entertainment. Back in the '90s, Nickelodeon created a sketch comedy show titled "All That," which was essentially the kids' version of "Saturday Night Live." Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) and original cashier Ed (Kel Mitchell), reunite in the first teaser to “Good Burger 2,” based on the sketch from the comedy series “All That.”

“The new adventures of Ed and Dex start now,” Mitchell says in the teaser.

The film will premiere this fall, exclusively on Paramount+.

In addition to Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, “Good Burger 2” also stars Lil Rel Howery (“Get Out”) as Cecil McNevin, Jillian Bell (“Murder Mystery 2”) as Katt Boswell, Kamaia Fairburn (“Blockbuster”) as Mia, Alex R. Hibbert (“The Chi”) as Ed2, Fabrizio Guido (“Perry Mason”) as Mr. Jensen, Elizabeth Hinkler (“The Good Doctor”) and Emily Hinkler (“The Good Doctor”), as Cindy and Mindy, and Anabel Graetz (“Free Guy”) as Ruth.

The film will also feature original “Good Burger” cast members reprising their roles: Josh Server, as Fizz, Lori Beth Denberg as Connie Muldoon and Carmen Electra as Roxanne.

The first “Good Burger 2” teaser has been unveiled by Paramount+.

The sequel to the cult classic Nickelodeon film is slated to debut on Paramount+ this fall. The official logline for the film states that it “follows Dexter Reed (Kenan Thompson) and original cashier Ed (Kel Mitchell), as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a hilarious new group of employees.”

On the set of the upcoming comedy sequel, franchise stars Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell were paid a visit on set by The Today Show host Al Roker who also plays a cameo as himself. Seen singing the "We're All Dudes" song in their vintage uniforms while riding the classic Burgermobile and sitting down with Roker on the brand-new Good Burger set, Kenan and Kel shared the first details on where their characters are 26 years after the '90s cult classic. "Ed owns the place now, Good Burger," Kel said. "Dex comes back around. They haven't seen each other in a few years, so it’s things that unravel with that."

Welcome (back) to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger, can I take your order? Everyone's favorite titular fast food joint will soon be open for business again, as Good Burger 2 is officially set to come to Paramount+.

The original film debuted in 1997 and starred Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell of... well, Kenan & Kel. In the 25 years since the release, it's developed a cult following and never really left the public eye. Good Burger's premise originated on Nickelodeon's sketch comedy show All That, often described as the kid-friendly version of Saturday Night Live.

In the sketch, Mitchell appeared as the lovably dimwitted cashier Ed. While Thompson's character of Dexter was created for the film, he and Mitchell appeared together in several other All That sketches, ultimately leading to their self-titled sitcom.

Directed by Phil Traill (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the long-awaited sequel has also signed up Kamaia Fairburn (Blockbuster), Alex R. Hibbert (Moonlight), Fabrizio Guido (Perry Mason), Elizabeth Hinkler, Emily Hinkler (The Good Doctor), and Anabel Graetz (Free Guy).

The newcomers join returning Good Burger stars Kenan Thompson as Dexter Reed and Kel Mitchell as Ed. Also reprising their roles are Josh Server, as Fizz, Lori Beth Denberg as Connie Muldoon, and Carmen Electra as Roxanne.

Good Burger, based on characters created for the comedy series All That, opened in theaters on July 25, 1997. The Paramount Pictures production had a $7 million opening weekend and went on to ring up $23 million before exiting theaters.

New cast members have been revealed for Good Burger 2. In development for a streaming release on Paramount+, the sequel brings back Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson to reprise their respective roles as Ed and Dexter from the original film. Variety now reports that Good Burger 2 will also bring back Carmen Electra, Josh Server, and Lori Beth Denberg. These will be actors familiar to fans of the original Good Burger.

In the first movie, Electra played Roxanne, an employee of Good Burger's competitor Mondo Burger. She is paid by Mondo Burger boss Kurt Bozwell (Jan Schweiterman) to seduce Ed in order to learn the secret recipe for his famous "Ed Sauce," but she winds up getting herself badly injured with her failed attempt. Electra has not been acting in recent years, and this will notably be the first movie she has appeared in since 2015's Book of Fire.

Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios announced Friday additional cast members for “Good Burger 2,” the long-awaited sequel to the 90’s film starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Lil Rey Howery, Jillian Bell and more will appear in the film alongside Thompson and co-star Kel Mitchell, with the sequel set to air on Paramount+ later this year.

In addition to Howery and Bell, new additions announced for the film include Kamaia Fairburn ​​Alex R. Hibbert, Fabrizio Guido, Elizabeth Hinkler and Anabel Graetz.

The film is a sequel to the 1997 Brian Robbins-directed comedy, which was based on the recurring sketch on the Nickelodeon series “All That.” The first film centered around Ed (Mitchell) and Dexter Reed (Thompson) as they try to save the old burger joint at which they both work.

No, a bunch of late fees didn’t suddenly appear in its bank account. The store, located in Bend, Oregon, won’t be buying a seven-milliion-dollar TV spot. Instead, it’s streaming on Instagram. It will also play it on a VHS tape at the store, then will make the tape available for rent at 2 per day.

The store is no doubt counting on media (like this site) to pick up on the plans, thus saving several million dollars.

“We are doing a fun, retro-style commercial that we will be releasing during the Big Game. We are featuring it during halftime in the store and on social media,” store owner Sandi Harding told Oregon Live in an email.

Blockbuster didn’t attract much interest upon its debut on Netflix last month, as it failed to break into the Netflix Top 10 rankings in the U.S. and was largely dismissed by critics. The series starred Randall Park as Timmy Yoon, “an analog dreamer in a 5G world.
