Remake Leatherface Joining ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ Video Game
Image
A brand new Leatherface is coming to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game, and this time around the game is paying tribute to the 2003 remake of the original horror classic.

Yes, we’re getting a Remake Leatherface skin! This marks the very first time that any elements from the 2003 Platinum Dunes remake have made their way into Gun’s video game.

Gun previews, “Lots of time and effort was dedicated to authentically capturing this unique version of Leatherface featuring a new hairstyle, a new execution, and a new chainsaw.

“Originally crafted by special effects artist Scott Stoddard, this mask has the appearance of multiple layers of skin from Leatherface’s Victims sewn together with leather cord. What Is Leatherface’s Origin Story?
Image
Creating a storm of fear when it was first released in 1974, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has inspired endless sequels and prequels. While none ever quite lived up to the original, each film creates its own timeline and lore. This is while retaining the Ed Gein-inspired, chainsaw-wielding charcter of Leatherface. Two films in particular have attempted to construct his origin story. 2006's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning kicks off the 'Rebooted/Hewitt' timeline where Leatherface is Thomas Hewitt: a man whose mother died during childbirth and was cast into a dumpster where his foster mother found him, leading him to later be employed at a slaughterhouse. However, it's in the 'Revised Sawyer' timeline, specifically in 2017's Leatherface, where we get a more comprehensive backstory for the human-skin-clad killer.

‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning’ – Why It’s Worth Revisiting 16 Years Later
Image
In this installment of The Silver Lining, we’ll be covering Jonathan Liebesman’s unfairly maligned prequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

While the production company is now mostly known for movies like The Purge and A Quiet Place, it was originally a series of horror remakes that put Platinum Dunes on the map. Flicks like 2005’s The Amityville Horror and 2009’s Friday the 13th made big money at the box office, but it was the astounding success of the 2003 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake that made this endeavor possible in the first place.

And with the success of that initial remake convincing Hollywood that brutal horror was still a sound investment, it makes sense that TCM would be the first movie in Platinum Dunes’ repertoire to garner a sequel. So where might a filmmaker go after a no-holds-barred splatterfest that ends with most of the cannibal family being...
