The Puppet from Dario Argento’s ‘Deep Red’ Has Been Turned into a Vinyl Collectible!
Image
The most memorable moments from Dario Argento movies usually involve brutal slayings, but then there’s also the creepy mechanical doll from his 1975 movie Deep Red (aka Profondo Rosso), which we recently named one of the 10 Most Unsettling Doll Moments in Horror.

Julieann Stipidis wrote in that article, “Sure, you could argue that there is little logical rhyme or reason for Dario Argento’s choice to include creepy prop dolls in several of his kill scenes in his 1975 giallo masterpiece Deep Red, but they really do add something special.”

All these years later, the doll from Deep Red has finally been turned into a collectible you can invite into your own home! Variety has announced this afternoon that Mutant and Unbox Industries will be releasing the prop replica, an officially licensed soft vinyl toy.

The outlet details, “Crafted with screen-quality detail, this toy perfectly recreates the menacing essence of the...

Cool Stuff: Let The Spice Spin On Mutant's Vinyl (And CD) Soundtrack For Dune: Part Two
Image
You know what's cool? The unabashedly sci-fi nerdery on display in "Dune" and this week's follow-up, "Dune: Part Two." You know what's even cooler? Catching all that majesty on the biggest screen available with a packed crowd and one of those mildly disturbing "Dune"-themed popcorn buckets in hand. You know what's coolest of all? Coming down from that spice-induced high in the days and weeks and even months after the fact, blasting the sumptuous and epic soundtrack from composer Hans Zimmer in a new release crafted by the fine folks over at Mutant (the new shop that rose from the ashes of the shutdown of Mondo).

Following hard on the heels of their celebration of the "Lisa Frankenstein" soundtrack will be a specially curated physical release of the "Dune: Part Two" soundtrack for the vinyl and CD enthusiasts among us. Having seen the highly-anticipated sequel, we can confirm that...

Cool Stuff: Mondo's Westworld Season 4 Vinyl Soundtrack Completes The Series Score Set
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

HBO's ambitious sci-fi series "Westworld" took the cable channel by storm when the first season became one of its most-watched shows. There was palpable excitement each week for a new episode, and it felt like the hype actually came close to capturing the eager anticipation audiences once felt between new episodes of "Lost," complete with a variety of compelling mysteries driving the series.

Sadly, "Westworld" came to an unfortunate end with the show's fourth season. HBO canceled the series due to the show's high cost and diminishing returns, with viewership taking an extreme dip as the series continued. That's genuinely disappointing, because co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy had just one more season left to complete the story they originally conceived, and as of now, fans will never find out how it was all supposed to end.

However, it's not...

Cool Stuff: Listen To Lisa Frankenstein's Vinyl Soundtrack While Building An Undead Boyfriend
Image
Back in March of 2023, we reported on the death of the greatest boutique pop culture poster company, Mondo. Granted, the company still exists in name only underneath the Funko brand, but Mondo as we once knew it (including a majority of the founders and core staff that made the company possible) is over. Fortunately, a savior appeared in the form of ... the team that gave us Mondo in the first place and the wonderful weirdos (Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah) over at SpectreVision. Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Mo Shafeek joined CEO Jenny Jacobi to form the new company, Mutant, which will produce limited-edition artwork, posters, soundtracks on vinyl, collectibles, events, and more.

One of Mutant's first releases is the original motion picture soundtrack for "Lisa Frankenstein," so you can relive all the glorious, creepy '80s goodness whenever the urge to build your own undead boyfriend beckons.

Image
Established in 2004, Mondo forever changed the landscape of pop culture collectibles — from t-shirts to screen printed movie posters, vinyl soundtracks, toys, board games and even home goods, the company elevated fandom from a hobby to a lifestyle. It has not only inspired dozens of similar businesses worldwide and propelled the consumption of physical media, but minted a team that quickly and widely became known for its passion, creativity and shrewd decisionmaking. On Monday, four of their former leaders — led by Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, Spencer Hickman and Mo Shafeek — debuted a new endeavor leveraging their experience, relationships and reputation: Mutant.

Led by CEO Jenny Jacobi, a Vidiots Foundation advisory board member and seven-year Alamo Drafthouse veteran, the quartet will produce posters, music, apparel and more. The announcement them a chance to start fresh after exiting Mondo, now under the ownership of vinyl figurine company Funko Inc.

Former Mondo Creatives Form New Company with Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision
Image
Back in March 2023, the Austin-based collectibles and poster company Mondo was hit with a wave of layoffs from parent company Funko, including the company’s former co-founders and creative directors. Today, those leaders have announced their comeback.

Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Mo Shafeek have teamed up with CEO Jenny Jacobi to form a new company called Mutant, which will release limited-edition artwork, posters, soundtracks on vinyl, collectibles, events, and more.

The company is being formed underneath SpectreVision, Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s genre-bending production company. The company is kicking off its launch with a vinyl soundtrack for Netflix’s “Society of the Snow.” The LP features artwork from Mo Shafeek adorning the score from composer Michael Giacchino as well as liner notes from director J.A. Michael Giacchino at an event for Werewolf by Night (2022)
Michael Giacchino’s ‘Rogue One’ Score to Become Deluxe Vinyl Box Set From Mondo (Exclusive)
Michael Giacchino at an event for Werewolf by Night (2022)
Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino’s original score for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is getting the Mondo treatment by way of a new box set.

The 2016 film, directed by Gareth Edwards, was the first-ever “Star Wars” spinoff and stands as one of the very best of the recent “Star Wars” films, a distinct and memorable approach to a piece of lore fans have long wondered about: how the Rebels gained knowledge of the fatal flaw in the Death Star that allowed Luke Skywalker to destroy it so readily (with a little help from The Force). Visceral and unique, “Rogue One” emphasized the “war” in “Star Wars.” And part of what made the experience of watching “Rogue One” so unforgettable was Giacchino’s rousing score, which combines the majesty of John Williams’ score for the original trilogy with flourishes that are identifiably (and appreciably) pure Giacchino.

The new Mondo “Rogue...
