Barnes Continues Downward Spiral In New Gotham Promo
With another riveting episode of Gotham set to air tonight, Fox has released a new promo video highlighting a good man’s descent into madness to whet our appetites.

Aside from the much anticipated return of Poison Ivy, a major reason to tune in tonight will be to see what lies ahead for Nathaniel Barnes. Since being infected by the blood of Alice, he’s slowly been driven mad, thinking himself to be judge, jury, and executioner. Knowing that “Mad City: The Executioner” might feature the final showdown between Barnes and Jim Gordon definitely qualifies as must see TV, or at least we’d like to think so.

Narrated by the Mad Hatter himself, Benedict Samuel, the new video succinctly chronicles the unfortunate series of events that have transpired for Barnes in recent weeks. While it remains unknown if...

Poison Ivy Returns In New Gotham Promo And Images
With just weeks remaining until the fall finale, Gotham looks to heat things up next week with what may be its most intense episode to air thus far this season. If the above trailer for “Mad City: The Executioner” tells us anything, it’s that we’re in for one hell of a nail biter.

From the looks of it, most of the white knuckle moments in this particular episode will come courtesy of the developing situation with Nathaniel Barnes. Seeing such a hard-nosed, by the book cop descend into madness provided an unexpected twist that has since yielded some compelling television. I and many others have theorized that he’s transitioning to becoming the Batman villain known as Solomon Grundy, but what’s been teased for this episode is starting to make me believe the producers may have something else in mind. My instincts tell me that we’ll...

New Images From Gotham Season 3, Episode 7 Released
It’s certainly no secret that Gotham juggles many characters from the Batman mythos and next Monday’s episode, “Mad City: Red Queen,” is set to further many plot threads, not just the Mad Hatter/Jim Gordon one that was the primary focus of the trailer.

While Mad Hatter is featured among one of the most generous helpings of promotional still galleries I’ve seen to date, the ongoing Penguin/Edward Nygma situation gets ample attention. Aside from that gem of a photo that sees Penguin talking on the phone, we get some glimpses at what may be several more awkward moments for him as he just can’t find the right words to say to his Chief of Staff.

Furthermore, a thankfully returning Chelsea Spack can be seen as her new character, Isabella, the current apple of Nygma’s eye. Her penchant for...

“Follow The White Rabbit” In This New Gotham Trailer
Not only does the title of next week’s episode of Gotham, “Mad City: Follow The White Rabbit,” cause one to recall either Alice in Wonderland or The Matrix, but it also starts to provide clues as to where the whole “Mad City” story arc is going. Given that the following episode happens to be titled “Red Queen,” it looks as though the Mad Hatter has everything to do with it, which is actually quite obvious in hindsight.

As we saw in last night’s instalment, Jervis Tetch has lost even more of his marbles (as if that were thought possible) and has now begun his pattern of killing women that he dubs “Alice,” paying some kind of bizarre tribute to his now deceased sister who shared that name. Fans of the comics are familiar with this proclivity of his, so it comes as no surprise that the producers have opted to explore this,...

Gotham season 2 episode 6 review: By Fire
facebook

twitter

google+

With more twists and turns than the average midseason finale, this week’s Gotham was one of the best yet…

This review contains spoilers.

2.6 By Fire

Holy cliff-hanger, Batman! Despite being placed as the sixth episode of the season, By Fire felt like a midseason finale. That’s mainly because of the whopping revelation at the end; that Wayne Enterprises are in the business of experimenting on ‘monsters.’ Crikey. How’s that for a shock?

We’ve always known that Wayne Enterprises were up to something dodgy, but a bit of insider dealing or black market arms trading or funding a few gangsters is all many might have expected. Deciding to bring them into the ‘testing’ of enhanced people sets them up as a potential equivalent to other evil comic book companies and a genuine overarching adversary for the show going forward.

In the same way that...

Gotham, Ep. 2.06, “By Fire”
Gotham, Season 2, Episode 5, “By Fire”

Written by Rebecca Perry Cutter

Directed by Tj Scott

Airs Mondays at 8pm (Et) on Fox

The Firefly story comes to a close this week in spectacular fashion as Gotham balances some very campy elements with emotional truths that skirt the line enough to work as an overall episode. There are many great, genuinely touching moments, others that are pitch-perfect black comedy, and a few instances of weird kitsch ideas that for the most part work, as they are executed with full-on commitment.

Gotham throughout its run has mixed many genres into its mold and some are more successful than others. This season has been more of a city-set western, with how brutal the villains have been and how Gotham feels almost lawless, even among those wearing the badge. Captain Barnes brings in the ideals of civilization, which is what Gordon began with in season one,...

Gotham season 2 episode 4 review: Strike Force
facebook

Penguin is back at centre stage in this week’s filler-ish Gotham, which reminds us how just brilliant Robin Lord Taylor is as Penguin...

This review contains spoilers.

2.4 Strike Force

Ladies, gentlemen, others – let us discuss this episode! With the opening salvo of interconnected instalments Damned If You Do, Knock Knock and The Last Laugh all wrapped up, there’s a sense that we’re back to Gotham’s status quo with Strike Force.

Penguin was attempting to maintain control, Jim was trying to clean up the Gcpd, Bullock was being a cynic, and Bruce went back to school after his near death experience last week. It was business as usual. We even had a shootout involving Jim and Victor Zsasz, just like old times.

Of course, not every episode can be one of theatrics and dramatic rug-pull death scenes. Some of them are just connective tissue – gradually eking out character arcs,...

'Gotham' Season 2 Gets Paul Reubens as Penguin's Father
Robin Lord Taylor
The cast of Gotham made their second appearance at New York Comic-Con this weekend! During the Nycc panel, Robin Taylor announced that Paul Reubens has signed on to play Oswald Cobblepot's father, Tucker Cobblepot. Ironically, this will be the second time the actor has played this role, after his appearance as The Penguin's father in the 1992 movie Batman Returns. While it hasn't been confirmed when The Penguin's dad will make his debut, Robin Taylor revealed during the panel that he will pop up very soon.

"He will be showing up very soon. Pee-Wee Herman is playing my dad! What the hell? Oh my god!"

Emmy Award winner Paul Reubens created the iconic character "Pee-wee Herman" while a member of the famed Los Angeles improv group The Groundlings. The live stage production "The Pee-wee Herman Show" premiered in 1981, followed by the hit film Pee-wee's Big Adventure and TV series Pee-wee's Playhouse,...

First Look Promo For Gotham Season 2, Episode 2; “Knock, Knock”
Gotham was the first of the current wave of superhero TV shows to return last night with its season two premiere, and Fox has now released a promo for next week’s instalment. Titled “Knock, Knock”, it doesn’t share much in common with the upcoming Eli Roth movie starring Keanu Reeves, but does look set to be just as tense as Jerome sets out on his path to one day becoming The Joker.

The decision to explore the villain’s origin story has been a controversial one, but the premiere certainly did a pretty good job of establishing him as a dangerous new threat.

In next week’s Gotham, on the heels of his reinstatement, Gordon is thrust onto the high-profile case tracking the deadly inmate escape from Arkham Asylum. Meanwhile, Galavan plans his next move, while Bruce asks for help from his father’s old friend to unlock the secrets in his office,...

Gotham: What's Next For the Riddler After His Shocking First Kill?!
Gotham (2014)
Well...that escalated quickly. We always knew that Edward Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) would turn into one of the biggest, scariest, and craziest supervillains from DC Comics eventually on Gotham...but we had no idea it would happen so soon! All throughout the Fox hit show's first season, Edward has been enthusiastic in his work at the Gcpd, cracking smiles and jokes like you wouldn't believe, seemingly as innocent as a nerdy little puppy dog. And he even had a crush on Kristen Kringle (Chelsea Spack), the cute records room attendant who worked with him in the Gcpd! But all that changed in one major moment during this week's dark and intense episode of Gotham, when Edward stood up to his...

Gotham Boss Previews Riddler's Rise, Gordon vs. Ogre, Fish's Fate and More
Gotham (2014)
Since October, Fox’s Gotham has told a tale of unrequited love (or something) between Edward Nygma (played by Cory Michael Smith) and Gcpd colleague Kristen Kringle (Chelsea Spack). But to what end?

Will this repeatedly crushed crush serve as merely a first catalyst toward the riddle-loving forensics whiz evolving into his fated alter ego, or is it the catalyst?

“She is the catalyst,” Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller assures TVLine. “And she’s an innocent one at that> That’s the tragedy of it — she doesn’t mean to break his heart.”

'Gotham' Featurette Teases a Dark Future for the Riddler
Gotham (2014)
Following a new trailer that debuted earlier this week, which teased the debut of Milo Ventimiglia's Ogre, Fox has released a new featurette for Gotham, which gives us more insight into Cory Michael Smith's character Edward Nygma, a.k.a. The Riddler. Throughout Season 1, we've watched as Edward has tried to befriend Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), while trying to express his love for Ms. Kringle (Chelsea Spack). Cory Michael Smith reveals in this featurette that we start to see a darker side to Edward, as he realizes that he can only truly depend on himself.

The series returns from a six-week hiatus with "Beasts of Prey", which centers on Gordon and Bullock investigating a cold case involving the Ogre, a serial killer who targets young women in Gotham City. Meanwhile, Fish plots her escape from the Dollmaker, and Bruce and Selina confront Reggie...

Harvey Dent And The Dollmaker Arrive In New Gotham Images
See Full Gallery Here

A batch of new images from Gotham‘s strangely-titled upcoming episode, “Everyone Has A Cobblepot,” have appeared online, showing the return of young Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent – played by Masters of Sex alum Nicholas D’Agosto – and the debut of the creepy serial killer known as the Dollmaker.

The Borgias and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor Colm Feore was cast as the Dollmaker (or in this case, Dr. Dulmacher) late last month, and based on the episode’s synopsis, he’s the one behind the creepy organ donation ring that Fish Mooney was recently caught up in, which makes sense considering he was attached to child smuggling earlier in the season as well.

Check out the new Gotham episode synopsis below, and be sure to tune in when “Everyone Has a Cobblepot” airs on March 2nd, 2015.

Gotham's Joker Storyline Will Be Set Up Before Season 1 Ends
I don’t know about you, but one of the characters that I’m most excited about seeing introduced on Gotham is the Joker. The show has done an amazing job introducing and developing up some of the classic Batman villains, such as Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and the Riddler. It has also laid the groundwork for several other characters.

During an interview with TV Guide, showrunner Bruno Heller revealed that there will finally be a real hint of a storyline for the Joker by the end of the first season, then the real development of the character will continue in Season 2, which is freakin’ exciting! According to Heller, no one wanted to wait any longer to make bring Joker into the series.

“We’ve said you’re going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America — nobody wants to wait. So, we will scratch the surface of that story,...

Gotham (2014)
'Gotham' Will Set Up Joker Story Before Season Finale
Gotham (2014)
One of the biggest questions fans have when it comes to Gotham is: When will we get to see The Joker. While that might not happen in Season 1, the seeds of this super villain's story will be planted well before the finale. We might not get to see The Joker in the flesh, but his arrival in Gotham Season 2 will surely be hinted at.

The second half of Gotham has enough to keep true DC Comics and Batman fans happy, as it introduces Dick 'Robin' Grayson's parents. We'll also be seeing villains The Scarecrow and The Red Hood. Executive producer Bruno Heller goes onto promise that we'll get a tease of the Clown Prince of villainy before this year calls it a close. But it will be a very small, almost minuscule taste:

"We've said you're going to be waiting a bit longer for it, but this is America -- nobody wants to wait.

Gotham, Ep. 1.12, “What The Little Bird Told Him” is charged with shocks & chilling development
Gotham Season 1, Episode 12: ‘What The Little Bird Told Him’

Written by Ben Edlund

Directed by Eagle Egilsson

Airs Mondays at 8pm Et on Fox

In this week’s Gotham, Gordon returns to the Gotham City Police Department to regain his Detective rank, but in order to do that, he has to prove himself to Commissioner Loeb by bringing in the Arkham Asylum inmate that escaped in “Rogues’ Gallery” under his watch. This episode shows Gordon revitalized and more focused, with the understanding that he needs to be at the Gcpd and nowhere else; it’s where he wants to be, and where he can do the most good. We have seen Gordon be all gung ho before, as in “Penguins Umbrella”, but this time he’s taking charge and asserting himself, whereas before, he was acting reckless, with unrealistic goals.

While Gordon is busy reclaiming his position at the Gcpd,...
