Finding a new streaming obsession is a lot of work. There’s the endless scrolling, followed by the inevitable questioning if you made the right choice once you finally pick something. We can relate all too well. While there are no guarantees in life, we have a recommendation that may help alleviate all of that guesswork and indecision. This particular recommendation comes from Stephen King, a man who knows a thing or two about storytelling. What’s more, this pick is based on a book written by Joe Hill, King’s son. Sure, some might be tempted to cry nepotism. But King is far from the only fan of today’s pick, which just so happens to be the AMC series NOS4A2. You can see his rave critique (which is sourced from one of the author’s Tweets) directly below!

Sickle cell disease plays a major role in The Pitt season 1, episode 2, but Max's new medical drama doesn't explain everything about the chronic disease. The Pitt, led by a very talented cast of characters, takes a very realistic and stark look at the state of the healthcare industry and the challenges healthcare providers face. The show has already touched on topics like the nursing shortage in The Pitt and the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, so it clearly doesn't balk at tackling the difficult realities of the medical field. That makes it the perfect show to talk about misunderstood conditions like sickle cell disease.

The sci-fi horror film Afraid is the latest creepy offering from Blumhouse Productions. However, the movie seems to have fallen flat at the box office, becoming one of the company's lowest earning projects.
According to Variety, the movie was projected to earn 3.7 million domestically during its three-day opening weekend. It's four-day Labor Day holiday weekend gross was expected to be about $4.4 million. Afraid eventually brought in $1.3 million on its first day, with $400,000 coming from Thursday night previews. Internationally, the film earned $2.3 million from 19 different markets. The total is Blumhouse's worst ticket takings since Jem and the Holograms earned $1.4 million in 2015.

Though it was hardly the first thriller to portray domesticity imperiled by an artificially intelligent “helper”, the runaway success of 2022’s “M3GAN” certainly lent that concept new commercial appeal. Unsurprisingly, Blumhouse isn’t waiting for next summer’s “M3GAN 2.0” to capitalize on its own success. Writer-director Chris Weitz’s “Afraid” (recently retitled with an “AI” spin from the previously announced “They Listen”) stars John Cho and Katherine Waterston as a married couple whose home is selected to test a new “digital family assistant.” Needless to say, it soon develops a dangerous mind of its own.
This less tongue-in-cheek traipse through formulaic sci-fi horror terrain works well enough to a point, its setup nicely handled by Weitz and his cast. But when crises start occurring at the halfway mark, they pile on too quickly to underwhelming effect, sacrificing credibility for excitement that never really materializes. ABC is passing on its pilots.
The network has passed on Anthony Anderson-fronted Public Defenders and Ellie Kemper-led Keeping It Together, which is a remake of British comedy Motherland, as well as dramas The Hurt Unit, starring Melissa George and Ben McKenzie, and Judgement starring Sex/Life’s Sarah Shahi.
ABC Signature is, however, planning to shop The Hurt Unit to other networks and platforms, while 20th Television will be shopping Public Defenders and Judgement.
The move comes as it still has decisions to make on series Home Economics and The Rookie: Feds as well as The Good Lawyer, which was a backdoor pilot spinoff of The Good Doctor.
Last month, ABC handed a series order to Drew Goddard’s pilot High Potential, starring Kaitlin Olson. The project, which is based on the popular French detective series Hip, was the clear front-runner all development season.

"Mrs. Davis" is built on a wild premise that somehow manages to only get crazier as the show goes on. The series tells the story of a nun named Simone (Betty Gilpin) determined to destroy an all-powerful artificial intelligence - and along the way, she finds herself tasked with finding and destroying the Holy Grail itself. From the get-go, the show promises a fantastic and chaotic ride, but even the most imaginative viewer (or advanced AI) probably couldn't have dreamed up what actually happens in the show's eighth and final episode.
Over the course of the show, Simone has been trying to find the Holy Grail because Mrs. Davis, the artificial intelligence in question, told her to. In exchange for the Grail, Mrs. Davis promises to grant Simone one wish. Simone has a vendetta against Mrs. Davis because she believes the algorithm killed her father, a magician, so she becomes...

Betty Gilpin goes up against Mrs. Davis — the most popular algorithm in the world — in the trailer for her new Peacock series.
In the first official footage of the sci-fi comedy from Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, the Glow and The Hunt star makes her introduction as Simone, a nun who is given the lofty task of locating the Holy Grail and ends up taking on the all-powerful artificial intelligence known as “Mrs. Davis,” who put Simone on her lofty quest.
In the trailer (above), a skeptical Simone is told she is the only person on the planet who can fulfill the quest of locating the Holy Grail. Along the way, she decides to take a path of resistance. “Mrs. Davis is all knowing and all powerful. She not only knows you are coming for her, but she wants you to,” Gilpin is warned.

You are not a robot, and a computer is not your boss. “Mrs. Davis” is here to remind you of that. Peacock’s upcoming sci-fi dramedy got an exciting and funny new trailer on Tuesday that will make you want to smash your phone and throw it in a river to free yourself from the tyranny of the algorithm.
“Mrs. Davis” stars Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin (“Glow”) as Sister Simone, a nun whose calling is to fight for humanity against the titular Mrs. Davis, an all-powerful artificial intelligence with nefarious intentions. It’s all too easy for it to get humans to hand over their free will. Mrs. Davis is it, not her; it’s important to avoid anthropomorphizing a computer program, as characters remind each other in the trailer. “Don’t give it a name,” an angry Australian man tells Simone. “No one calls Facebook ‘Doug.’”

Sci-fi writer Damon Lindelof has made quite the name for himself since he's arrived on the scene, tackling incredibly popular material such as the hit show "Lost", Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel "Prometheus," and most recently HBO's brilliant sequel series "Watchmen." Should anyone still be on the fence about Lindelof's talents after some high-profile misses like "Cowboys & Aliens," "Star Trek Into Darkness," and 2015's "Tomorrowland," well, I implore you to check out his work on "The Leftovers," which has earned him the benefit of the doubt for the foreseeable future as far as I'm concerned.
The next item on Lindelof's agenda, however, appears both of a piece and miles apart from his previous output. Peacock suddenly seems like the belle of the streaming wars ball, riding high off the success of Rian Johnson's "Poker Face" series. Now, the streaming service is partnering up with Lindelof on its most out-there premise yet.

If there’s one thing that Damon Lindelof is known for, it’s making really great shows that can also get really, really weird. And based on the latest teaser released Wednesday, his new Peacock show “Mrs. Davis” looks like it might be the “Leftovers” and “Watchmen” creator’s most oddball project yet.

Exclusive: Ashley Romans (Y: The Last Man) has been cast as a series regular opposite Ben McKenzie, Melissa George, Michelle Ortiz and Augustus Prew in ABC’s medical drama pilot The Hurt Unit. She replaces Bull alumna Jaime Lee Kirchner who had been originally cast in the pilot, written by Matt Lopez and John Glenn and to be directed by Marc Webb.
According to sources, Kirchner exited over creative differences during production. Her scenes will be reshot with Romans. While unfortunate, recastings are relatively common and a part of the pilot process.
The Hurt Unit follows a highly skilled team of trauma surgeons and nurses led by Danny (McKenzie), a self-made surgeon, who race into the field to treat the patients who won’t make it to the hospital in time. When the sick and the injured can’t get to the ER, the Hurt Unit (Hospital Urgent Response Team) brings the ER to them.

Peacock is having a bit of a moment right now, at least in terms of its creative output. The platform is riding a wave of positive reviews thanks to Poker Face, the case-of-the-week mystery from Rian Johnson and starring Natasha Lyonne. It's similarly enjoying a bit of buzz from reality series The Traitors, which is delightfully hosted by Alan Cumming, and the surreal comedy Paul T. Goldman.
Peacock will hope to keep that momentum going in a few months as it premieres Mrs. Davis on April 20. Co-created by Lindelof and Hernandez, with Glow star Betty Gilpin in the lead role, Mrs. Davis centers on a battle between nuns and artificial intelligence. The first images from Mrs. Davis highlight Betty Gilpin as a nun at war with artificial intelligence. Even in a crowded television landscape, with new shows debuting all the time featuring big stars and top-notch creatives, Mrs. Davis drew a lot of attention as it hails from Young Sheldon writer Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof, who is known for his work as the showrunner of Lost and the creator of HBO's Emmy-winning Watchmen adaptation. Gilpin's involvement in her first leading role in a drama series since the abrupt cancelation of Glow is another draw that bolsters the wild premise.
