Following the success of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell assured fans that it wouldn't be another 10 years between movies. Thankfully, they're making good on that promise, as the next installment in the long-running franchise has officially begun filming.
Titled Evil Dead Burn, French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček made a post on his Instagram account to announce that production has begun on the anticipated horror movie, which is slated to be released on July 24, 2026. He shared a picture of a clapboard with the film's title on it, writing, "Day 1. From 93 to Nz," in the caption. Folks immediately gathered in the comments to express their excitement, and rightfully so. Vaniček's debut feature, Infested, garnered all kinds of praise from fans and critics back in 2023, and would go on to win Best First Feature Film and Best Visual Effects at the 49th César Awards, which is basically the French version of the Oscars.

When are people going to realize that reading aloud from that damn book just isn't going to end well?
Following the recent news that Sébastien Vaniček's Evil Dead Burn was preparing to shoot in New Zealand, the filmmaker has officially announced that cameras are now rolling, while taking to social media to share a first look at the movie's logo and a production still.
Vaniček made his feature directorial debut with Vermin/Vermine, aka Infested, which focused on the residents of a rundown French apartment building attempting to survive when an army of venomous, rapidly reproducing spiders invade.
The movie garnered a lot of acclaim, and won Best Picture and Best Director in its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest. It was also invited to the Sitges Film Festival, where it earned a nomination for Best Motion Picture and won a Special Jury Prize.

The massively popular Evil Dead franchise will take its next step forward in 2026 with Evil Dead Burn, and the production process got a major update straight from the movie's writer/director, Sébastien Vaniček. After a long hiatus, the Evil Dead franchise was rebooted in 2013 with Evil Dead by Fede Álvarez (Alien: Romulus), and followed up with Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise in 2023.
The franchise's current cadence is to have Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the originators of the Evil Dead series, hand-pick a new director for each new movie. Each director brings their own unique style and flair to the base concept of Deadites wreaking havoc on the mortal world, and while there are some commonalities and Easter eggs, each new movie can comfortably be treated as a stand-alone.
The latest choice is 28-year-old writer and director Sébastien Vaniček, who put his stamp on the horror genre with the...

One of the first horror movies of the 2010s to kick off the genre's reboot craze is heading to Hulu. Fede Álvarez's Evil Dead will land on the streamer at the top of next month.
Beginning August 1, Evil Dead will be available to stream on Hulu. Released in 2013, the supernatural horror movie serves as both a soft reboot and continuation of the Evil Dead franchise, following a new set of protagonists who come under attack by dead people in a remote cabin in the woods. Although the reboot received mixed reviews from critics, with review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes noting an approval rating of 63%, it was a box office success, earning just under $98 million worldwide off a $17 million production budget.

Sébastien Vaniček's Evil Dead Burn recently entered production in New Zealand, with Dune: Part Two's Souheila Yacoub set to play the lead role. Now, Deadline is reporting that the movie has rounded out its cast with three new additions.

The upcoming Evil Dead film directed by Infested director Sébastien Vaniček has finally started casting! Evil Dead Burn will star a couple of Netflix stars, including Wednesday's Hunter Doohan and The Night Agent vet Luciane Buchanan (via Deadline). Horror fans may also recognize actress Tandi Wright, who played Mia Goth's on-screen mother in Pearl.
Details about the film and its characters remain under wraps at this time, but we can expect the Deadites to return and terrorize these new cast members, I'm sure. Evil Dead Burn has been of particular interest to fans of the long-running franchise started in 1981 with the Bruce Campbell-led The Evil Dead.
Original director Sam Raimi chose Vaniček to direct this film after seeing Infested, a particularly tense and mean-spirited creature feature about killer spiders. Needless to say, he's well-suited for the role and could deliver us the scariest Evil Dead to date.

More actors have been announced for the next Evil Dead movie. Among those set to face off against the Deadites is Hunter Doohan, who wowed Marvel fans earlier this year in Daredevil: Born Again as the villainous Muse.
Deadline was the first to report that Doohan had joined the cast of the new Evil Dead movie alongwith Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) and Tandi Wright (Pearl). Doohan's casting comes amid rumors that Muse will return for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, despite the scene-stealing serial killer's death in the first season. However, it's not yet clear if Doohan will be back in the role, as it's possible that a different character could take over the serial killer's mantle in the new season.
Character details remain under wraps at this time for all confirmed actors. The three actors join the previously announced Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two) in the new Evil Dead movie,...

Deadites rejoice! New Line and Sony have officially set a release date of July 24, 2026, for a new Evil Dead film, which will see Dune: Part Twoactress Souheila Yacoub take point as the movie's protagonist. It's been two long years since the release of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, which went on to gross $147 million at the box office. Before then, there hadn't been a new film in the franchise in 10 years, so it's nice to see that Campbell and Raimi are delivering on their promise to be more consistent with new releases.
Per Deadline, New Line and Sony unveiled the newly minted release date for the next Evil Dead movie today, which will be directed by Sébastien Vaniček. Fans will recall that the French director's debut horror film Infested was a big hit with audiences (and Stephen King!) when it hit Shudder last year, so he's more than capable of helming an Evil Dead project.

Not so groovy news for fans of The Evil Dead. Nearly three years after its release to critical acclaim, Saber Interactive's asymmetrical survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game is being pulled from Steam, Sony, and other digital storefronts with no reason given behind the removal. The developer confirmed the news on Wednesday, thanking supporters and writing, "Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.” Since the axing of sales, Bruce Campbell, who reprized his role as Ash Williams for the game, has reacted to the adaptation's end, writing, "Dead end."
Evil Dead: The Game was notable for a few reasons. For Campbell, it marked his first time properly stepping back into the shoes of his Deadite-slaying hero since the end of Ash vs Evil Dead in 2018. It wasn't just him, either, as the...

The Last Stop In Yuma County
When it first emerged in 2023, indie thriller The Last Stop In Yuma County didn’t have a big platform, despite screening at the likes of Fantastic Fest, but it did wow audiences wherever it went, gradually building up a cult following – and with good reason. The début directorial feature from Francis Galluppi, it’s funny, stylish, clever, packed with unforgettable characters and gripping throughout. Now it’s finally becoming available to viewers in the UK, thanks to a Blu-ray release from Arrow.
Meeting stars Jim Cummings (who plays a hapless knife salesman) and Richard Brake (who plays a bank robber on the run), I told them that one of the reasons I think I haven’t been able to get it out of my head is that in all the months since I first saw it I haven’t been able to figure out...

About six years ago, Scream Factory gave the 1986 classic Night of the Creeps a Blu-ray release – and along with the Blu-ray, they released an exclusive, limited edition 8” tall Neca action figure of the film’s star, Tom Atkins! Now, Scream Factory is set to bring Night of the Creeps to 4K Uhd on March 25th – and the Collector’s Edition bundle includes a new Tom Atkins action figure! You can check out an image of the new action figure at the bottom of this article, and you can pre-order the bundle at This Link. There was a bundle that included both of the Neca figures, but it has already sold out.
Written and directed by Fred Dekker, Night of the Creeps has the following synopsis: Thrill me! When an alien experiment goes awry, it crashes to Earth in 1959 and infects a young college student. Twenty-seven years later, his cryogenically frozen...

Director Lee Cronin's recent Evil Dead Rise proved to be a big success for Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures (grossing $147 million against its $15-19 million budget), so it was inevitable that another instalment in the iconic horror franchise would enter development sooner rather than later.
Back in February, we got word that Vermin director Sébastien Vaniček had been enlisted to co-write and helm the then untitled project, which was described as a spin-off. This indicated that the movie would not be a direct sequel to Rise, but all plot details are still under wraps for the time being.
Now, Vaniček has taken to Instagram to announce that the movie is officially titled Evil Dead Burn, and will be released at some point in 2026.

Today brings with it some groovy news, particularly for those who are fans of the "Evil Dead" movies. After being away from the big screen for a decade, the franchise has roared back to life thanks to the success of 2023's "Evil Dead Rise." Now, the powers the be are trying to keep the good, bloody vibes going with multiple new films, one of which now has a title and a release window. Look forward to 2026, people.
Earlier this year, we learned that writer/director Sébastien Vaniček ("Infested") is making a new "Evil Dead" movie. Details have been few and far between since the announcement was made earlier this year, but the filmmaker recently took to Instagram to share the front script page for the latest entry in the franchise, which is officially titled "Evil Dead Burn." Last year’s box office hit Evil Dead Rise, set in the world of Sam Raimi's classic Evil Dead franchise, has paved the way for more deadite-infested films coming in the near future. The gory horror franchise is already gearing up for its next installment, as well as planning for another down the line. Of the two new movies, one is being helmed by Sébastien Vaniček, director of Infested, who announced the title and revealed the release window for his Evil Dead movie in a recent Instagram post.
According to Vaniček's recent Instagram post, the film is titled Evil Dead Burn and is set to plague theaters in 2026. The French director co-wrote the screenplay for the film, which is connected to other projects in the franchise, with Florent Bernard. In the build-up to the release of Evil Dead Rise (read our review right Here) last year, Evil Dead franchise rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert let it be known that they were already looking forward to producing more entries in the series, with Campbell revealing they were hoping to make a new sequel / spin-off every two or three years. In February, they proved their commitment to this idea by hiring Sébastien Vaniček, who made his feature directorial debut on the French horror film Vermin, a.k.a. Infested, to write and direct a new installment in the franchise. Now, Vaniček has taken to social media to share a picture of the title page for his script Evil Dead Burn, along with a promise that the film will be released in 2026!

In the wake of last year’s box office hit Evil Dead Rise, the franchise is getting set to expand with Two new movies, one of which is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček (Infested).
Taking to Instagram this afternoon, Vaniček has announced that his Evil Dead movie is officially titled Evil Dead Burn, and he teases in the photo’s caption that it’ll be unleashed in 2026.
Based on The Evil Dead by Sam Raimi, Evil Dead Burn is being directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the screenplay with Florent Bernard. Check out the script’s cover page below.
French filmmaker Vaniček is fresh off his feature debut Infested (Vermines), which very much feels like Evil Dead Rise… with spiders. It’s no secret why he landed the gig, to say the least!

After being one of the leads of the original show, Lucy Lawless is weighing in on her potential Ash vs Evil Dead animated revival and overall franchise return. Lawless starred in the TV expansion of Sam Raimi's beloved horror franchise as Ruby Knowby, the daughter of the professor who discovered the Necronomicon, though had mysterious ties to the evil book's origins and the demons within it. Having frequently survived her fights with Bruce Campbell's Ash, Ruby was ultimately defeated by the Dark Ones in Ash vs Evil Dead season 3, which also marked the show's final season after being cancelled by Starz.
During a recent interview with Screen Rant to discuss her directorial debut with the acclaimed documentary Never Look Away, Lawless was asked about her thoughts on returning for the in-development Ash vs Evil Dead animated revival. The Evil Dead saga has taken a lot of twists and turns throughout the years, and what began in a small cabin in the woods is now a full-blown franchise that will see at least two more films at some point in the near future. Though it remains to be seen how those movies will fit into the overall timeline of the series, original star Bruce Campbell says theyre not that complicated to understand, at least, not on the level of Star Wars, which director George Lucas shot out of order something he gladly took a tongue-in-cheek jab at in a recent interview with ScreenRant.

After playing Evil Dead franchise hero Ash Williams on screen for around forty years, spanning three feature films and three seasons of the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell formally retired from the role, saying he’s not physically able to handle the action sequences any longer. But he is still willing to voice the character, as evident from Evil Dead: The Game… and a while back, he said would gladly provide Ash’s voice if there were ever to be an Evil Dead animated series. Franchise creator Sam Raimi has let it be known that he wants to continue making Evil Dead projects with Campbell, and he must have heard Campbell’s answer to the animated series question, because Campbell said more than a year and a half ago that they were actively pursuing the idea. Now, during an interview with ComicBook.com, Campbell has confirmed that an...

Bruce Campbell, who portrays Ash in the Evil Dead series, has explained how the next two movies in the horror franchise will fall into its larger timeline. Following the success of 2023's Evil Dead Rise, it was announced in February 2024 that an Evil Dead spinoff was in production, with Sbastien Vaniek attached as director and co-writer alongside Florent Bernard. Then, in April 2024, it was revealed a second spinoff would also be entering development, written and directed by Francis Galluppi. The plots for both upcoming entries are under wraps.
Speaking with Screen Rant, Campbell teased how the new Evil Dead movies will fit into the larger timeline, explaining that it's not as planned out as something like George Lucas' Star Wars movies were. The actor teased that the franchise is beyond the original cabin and Ash, hinting at the upcoming movies feeling more like their own independent stories set in the same universe.

Evil Dead franchise star Bruce Campbell explains why the franchise started to embrace more comedy after the first film. Released in 1981, Evil Dead hails from director Sam Raimi and marks a seminal entry into the horror genre, with Campbell starring as Ash, one of five friends who become tormented by flesh-possessing demons while at a cabin in the woods. Campbell would reprise the role for Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992, both of which mixed horror and comedy.
During a recent interview with Variety, Campbell reflected on his time in the Evil Dead franchise, breaking down why he and Raimi decided to pivot away from the pure horror of the first film. According to the actor, the response to the original unrated Evil Dead was so strong that they decided to lighten things up for the sequels to avoid being known as "horror guys" for the rest of their careers.

Bruce Campbell has been covered in a lot of fake blood during his years playing Ash Williams in the The Evil Dead franchise. However, in the actors own words, it is not a process that he would ever call enjoyable.
Although Bruce Campbell has now seemingly hung up his chainsaw for good when it comes to on-screen appearances as his iconic character, back in 2016 the actor was back for more Deadite action in the unexpected and very welcome Starz sequel series Ash vs Evil Dead. While speaking to Inverse, the actor explained how the methods used to splatter him with fake blood had become more sophisticated since his early years in the role, but the substance itself was just as repellent as it ever was.

Evil Dead Rise, the latest sequel in the Evil Dead universe, is crawling its way to Netflix in September, and franchise star Bruce Campbell has got some advice for those who still haven't seen it yet. The film, released in 2023, was a refreshing take on the demonic horror franchise created by Sam Raimi in the 1980s, and has reinvigorated the franchise enough for two new movies to already be in development.
Using X/Twitter, Campbell addressed Evil Dead Rise's arrival on Netflix by posting the following advice to his fans: "Hide the children. Seriously." Campbell was responsible for giving life to Ash Williams, the main character of the franchise in the first three Evil Dead films and the TV series Ash vs Evil Dead. He has also participated as a producer in the more recent films, and looks set to continue this role in future.

The third Avatar film had its title revealed at Disney's X23 Expo, getting a fun response from actor Bruce Campbell. As revealed at the event, James Cameron's threequel has officially been dubbed Avatar: Fire and Ash, and horror fans may already know where Campbell will be going with his reaction.
After the news was announced, Campbell shared an image of the movie's logo on his X account. In the caption, he slyly quipped, "Jim and I have been talking." Though the comment was presumably made in jest, it may be fun for fans to envision Avatar 3 as a crossover film with the Evil Dead franchise. While such a concept would most likely never see the light of day, the third Avatar film's title is certainly reminiscent of Evil Dead, and Fire and Ash even seems like something a film featuring Campbell's Ash Williams coul dhave been subtitled.

Animation will allow Evil Dead to push the limits of gore and horror in ways live-action never could. The franchise has always had a cartoonish influence, now it's literally becoming a cartoon with a new animated series. Bruce Campbell will reprise his role as Ash Williams in the new show, bringing his delightfully over-the-top performance to the animated world.
Bruce Campbell has confirmed that an Evil Dead animated series is in the works, and it has the chance to finally do something that the live-action movies never could. Army of Darkness used a combination of stop-motion in the foreground and motion control in the background to bring its undead army to life. The Evil Dead continues to rise! Following the success of Lee Cronin's splatter-filled Evil Dead Rise last year, the pipeline for the comedy horror franchise Sam Raimi built has just gotten busier and busier. Already on the way are two new Evil Dead movies, one from Vermin director Sébastien Vaniček and another from Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop In Yuma County). Now, as revealed by Ash Williams himself Mr Bruce Campbell in an interview with EW, the parasitic soul-snaffling Deadites are set to be drawn to life — or at least more undeath — anew in an original animated TV take on the series.
Speaking to EW ahead of the release of his Satanic Panic set Peacock series Hysteria, Campbell confirmed that whilst he officially retired from the role of supermarket clerk-turned-Promised One Ash Williams in live-action when Ash Vs Evil Dead ended in 2018, he will lend his voice to a new Evil Dead animation.

Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise is getting an animated series, it’s been confirmed. Here are a few more details of what’s coming.
The Evil Dead franchise is having a rennaisance thanks to Lee Cronin’s successful 2023 entry Evil Dead Rise. Earlier this year, Sébastien Vaniček was attached to direct and co-write a new spin-off film. Francis Galluppi wil write and direct the next Evil Dead film.
According to Deadline, while promoting his latest Peacock series Hysteria, franchise stalwart Bruce Campbell has confirmed he will reprise the role of Ash in an animated Evil Dead series.

Sam Raimi's iconic horror franchise Evil Dead is still going strong after all this time. Most recently, fans were treated to last year's fantastically fun Evil Dead Rise, but there's still plenty more on the way, including at least two more live-action movies.
But franchise star Bruce Campbell, who originated the role of Ash in the 1981 film and has reprised the role many times since in different capacities, recently provided Entertainment Weekly with an update on the franchise's future, including confirming that the long-gestating animated series is still in the works.
While it's unlikely we'll see Campbell return as Ash in a significant live-action role, the actor did say he'd happily voice the character for an animated spinoff.

Die Hard may be one of the greatest action movies of all time, but according to Bruce Campbell, it suffers from one major mistake in its premise — John McClane is just too capable.
“You want to put weird s— in the hands of someone who can’t handle it,” Campbell told Entertainment Weekly. “Like with Ash [from Evil Dead], he has no formal training whatsoever. He’s not military, he’s not CIA; he’s like a garage mechanic that’s out to save the world. That interests me! The premise of Die Hard is wrong. The guy in the air vent shouldn’t be Bruce Willis. He’s an ex-l.A. cop. The writers just took the easy train. They took the freight train to easy town.“

Much like the deadites, the Evil Dead franchise is hard to keep down. The man who is forever linked to the Evil Dead movies, Bruce Campbell, recently shared an exciting update on the future of the property, and it involves more movies and an animated series.
After a very successful run in theaters last year for the fifth film in the series, Evil Dead Rise, the series appears to be stronger than ever. So it comes as no shock that Campbell confirmed that more Evil Dead projects are on the way. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Campbell shared what the future holds for the franchise. "The future is two more damn movies," Campbell said. "We've got two new fabulous directors that have two new scripts in the shoot, and we think we've suckered a studio into coughing up the dough for both, since they seem to still make money.
