The six-part World Productions-produced series follows the untold story of the Scottish-u.S. investigation into the 1988 terror attack, during which 270 people were killed when a bomb exploded on a flight en route from Heathrow to JFK.

It’s hard to believe, but it has been almost three decades since Diana Gabaldon published the first book of her extremely successful historical fantasy novel series, Outlander. Captivating readers with her story of the English WWII nurse, Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), who is transported back in time to 1743, where she meets the Scottish solider, James Fraser (Sam Heughan). Claire’s encounter with Jamie and his clan is far from comfortable, at first, but what follows is an intense love story that goes beyond the borders of time.

In 2014, the first season of Outlander aired on Starz, and due to its success, the series already has seven seasons. The long-running TV show is perfection in many ways, which is why it is hard to believe that something about it isn’t perfect. Even though Outlander is one of the most beloved historical fantasy series ever, it doesn’t mean that it can do no wrong.

You would think that watching six seasons of Outlander would prepare you for the rollercoaster that is the hit series’ Season 7. Well, it's inevitable to break the illusion, because this new season following Jamie and Claire’s life also brings some of our favorite characters lives into really, really difficult situations. While each of Outlander’s new episodes that has aired on Starz so far is tough for the nerves in some way, there is one episode which is simply baffling. Outlander season 7, episode 14, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It," has officially set almost all the characters on their ultimate paths for the rest of the season. With only two episodes left, season 7 has a lot of tension to resolve before the season finale, but the interweaving threads of the stories are converging. While Outlander season 7, episode 13, was a bit slower than some of the action-oriented installments of the season, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It" has brought back the heightened drama and fast pace, setting up a strong conclusion.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

Wondering why it has been feeling like your birthday once a week ever since November 22? Well, it is because the best historical drama series has finally returned. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series of the same name, it follows Jamie and Claire Fraser, whose love knows no boundaries, not even the ones set by time.

As Jamie and Claire, and their loved ones constantly have to face some sort of obstacle, Season 7 of Outlander certainly takes it even further and drops some massive bombshells on our beloved characters. Outlander is known for being a series that loves its twists and turns, constantly shocking fans with heartbreaking moments, brutal scenes, or straight-up unbelievable connections. In June 2023, the first part of Outlander Season 7 premiered, and after a long wait, the second part of the drama series finally started to air weekly on Starz on November 22.

Not that it wasn’t expected, but Outlander has been doing the most with season 7 so far. Laughter, shock, tears, and confusion are only a few of the emotional states the series has put its viewers in, and it seems as though the widely loved series has even more in stock. Outlander has never shied away from shocking, even downright traumatic, scenes. Since Season 1, the show has aimed to shock its audience with its gratuitous portrayal of life in the 18th century.

As Outlander's seventh season nears its finale on January 25, 2025, it will be interesting to see how the Frasers survive the American Revolution. What's less interesting is the ridiculous obsession that Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) has with time travel and the annoying conversations he continues to pester the others about, especially in Season 7, Episode 9, "Unfinished Business."

While it makes sense that Roger would be concerned about his son Jemmy (Matthew Adair), the silly existential queries become too much to bear. Not only does Roger anger his friends and allies, but his illogical infatuation with all things time travel is most obnoxious for fans who've dealt with the show's paradoxical time shifts for years and somehow understand its machinations better than he does. Then again, not much about the Outlander makes much temporal sense anyway.

Jamie Fraser's fate in Outlander season 7 part 2 is a major question after the new trailer. Jamie is known for cheating death on many occasions, but the official trailer for season 7 part 2 leaves his survival a mystery. For now, at least, it's unclear what plan the series has for the beloved character and a long-term staple of the Outlander cast.

Jamie's teased death appears different from the novel, leaving room for fans to wonder if he is truly dead. Man, I'm honestly already crying thinking about Outlander coming to an end you guys. It's seriously one of the best shows around, and it's so bittersweet that we're in the final stretch. We do still have a while before we reach the point of goodbye. There's still Outlander season 7 part 2 to look forward to on Nov. 22, 2024. Though the cast is getting closer and closer to wrapping up filming the final season, Outlander season 8.

Entertainment Weekly was privy to some of the cast celebrating a huge milestone in the television world. And that's making 100 episodes of Outlander! Sam Heughan, Caitríona Balfe, David Berry, and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts gathered around a cake that features what looks like "stone dotted with blooms of thistle and purple flowers, signature Scottish blooms," per the outlet.
