The Pilot TV Podcast: Too Much, The Institute Ft. Jeffrey Dean Morgan & Scott Gimple, Emer Kenny & Lauren Lyle
Image
This may be the first and last time we ever say this, but this week's Pilot TV Podcast is both figuratively and literally Too Much. Yes, not only do we have four guests — specifically The Walking Dead: Dead City’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Scott Gimple [25:31 — 35:19 approx.] Karen Pirie’s Lauren Lyle and Emer Kenny [53:34 — 1:07:34 approx.] — but we also review four shows, including — you guessed it — Lena Dunham's Too Much on Netflix.

Elsewhere on the reviews front this week, James Dyer, Boyd Hilton, and Kay Ribeiro enrol at The Institute on MGM+, get Bookish on U&Alibi, and boldly go with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 on Paramount+. And that's not all — nuh-uh! Toxic Town on Netflix is such a satisfying and inspiring watch that's worth your time (Review)
Image
Honestly sometimes when there's so many recognizable faces in a new show or movie, that doesn't necessarily mean that the story is good or worth your time. Though I'm happy to say that when it comes to Toxic Town on Netflix, that's definitely not the case! This star-studded cast brought it, with an inspiring story as well. With just four episodes, this series is a quick and satisfying watch if you're looking for something new to fill your time. Let's get into our review. Spoilers Below.

Courtesy: Netflix

The British drama is so well done, including the writing, editing, and pacing of the tale based on true events. Even though the story takes place over the span of 13 years and there's only four episodes, it didn't feel like anything was rushed or missing. It also didn't feel like the episodes were moving too slow either. We got the idea and...

Image
Spoiler Alert !!!Warning, spoilers ahead for the Toxic Town episodes—Good luck keeping those tears in!

Let me start by saying this: There are moments when you don’t even need to dive deep into a drama’s backstory to know it’s about to leave a mark. The kind of feeling that makes you want to scream, “Someone has to do something!” Well, Toxic Town takes that feeling and cranks it up to an emotional fever pitch.

Outlander Season 7, Episode 15 Review: The Penultimate Episode's Impressive Reveal Left Me Speechless (& More Excited Than Ever)
Image
Warning: This review contains spoilers for Outlander Season 7, Episode 15

Outlander season 7, episode 15, "Written In My Own Heart's Blood," delivers on the fast-paced promise of season 7 and races forward without giving us a moment to catch our breath. The episode shares its title with Diana Gabaldon's eighth book in the Outlander series, and by the final moments of the story, the meaning becomes all too clear. Outlander season 7, episode 14 paved the way for the Battle of Monmouth, which takes center stage in episode 15, pushing the characters to their limits and providing enough excitement to last a lifetime.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

'Outlander' Season 7 Part 2 Needs to Drop the Filler Episodes
Image
It’s hard to believe, but it has been almost three decades since Diana Gabaldon published the first book of her extremely successful historical fantasy novel series, Outlander. Captivating readers with her story of the English WWII nurse, Claire Randall (Caitríona Balfe), who is transported back in time to 1743, where she meets the Scottish solider, James Fraser (Sam Heughan). Claire’s encounter with Jamie and his clan is far from comfortable, at first, but what follows is an intense love story that goes beyond the borders of time.

In 2014, the first season of Outlander aired on Starz, and due to its success, the series already has seven seasons. The long-running TV show is perfection in many ways, which is why it is hard to believe that something about it isn’t perfect. Even though Outlander is one of the most beloved historical fantasy series ever, it doesn’t mean that it can do no wrong.

Why This 'Outlander' Episode Is One of the Most Controversial Yet
Image
You would think that watching six seasons of Outlander would prepare you for the rollercoaster that is the hit series’ Season 7. Well, it's inevitable to break the illusion, because this new season following Jamie and Claire’s life also brings some of our favorite characters lives into really, really difficult situations. While each of Outlander’s new episodes that has aired on Starz so far is tough for the nerves in some way, there is one episode which is simply baffling. Outlander’s Episode 12 of Season 7, “Carnal Knowledge," is easily the most controversial episode yet, and here is why.

Outlander Season 7, Episode 14 Review: William Gets His Time In The Spotlight & Quickly Becomes My Favorite Character This Season
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Outlander Season 7, Episode 14

Outlander season 7, episode 14, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It," has officially set almost all the characters on their ultimate paths for the rest of the season. With only two episodes left, season 7 has a lot of tension to resolve before the season finale, but the interweaving threads of the stories are converging. While Outlander season 7, episode 13, was a bit slower than some of the action-oriented installments of the season, "Ye Dinna Get Used To It" has brought back the heightened drama and fast pace, setting up a strong conclusion.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

William Ransom Has Gone Off the Rails in 'Outlander' Season 7
Image
Wondering why it has been feeling like your birthday once a week ever since November 22? Well, it is because the best historical drama series has finally returned. The talk is, of course, about Outlander, and it is currently airing weekly on Starz. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s novel series of the same name, it follows Jamie and Claire Fraser, whose love knows no boundaries, not even the ones set by time.

As Jamie and Claire, and their loved ones constantly have to face some sort of obstacle, Season 7 of Outlander certainly takes it even further and drops some massive bombshells on our beloved characters. One specific character has become increasingly important, and Episode 12 of the new Outlander season follows him along as he tries to deal (or not deal) with a life-changing piece of information.

Why 'Outlander' Needs a Lord John Grey Spin-Off
Image
Claire (Caitríona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) tumultuous love story has been nothing short of exhilarating to watch. With Season 7 of Outlander currently airing weekly on Starz, and Outlander Season 8 confirmed as its final run, fans of the show still have some time left to spend with their beloved characters. There are only a handful of long-running TV shows which excite viewers so much that they would love to see a spinoff including some of their favorite characters.

This extremely successful series is not only special due to its long run, but it is also one of those widely-loved series which will have a spinoff. Outlander: Blood of my Blood is set to explore the lives of Jamie and Claire’s parents in more detail. The excitement for this new approach is certainly there, but since the release of Outlander’s seventh season, one specific Outlander character has fans demanding a spinoff,...

Outlander Season 7, Episode 13 Review: Roger & Bree's Arc Is Still Weak, But At Least We've Got More Exciting Stories To Focus On
Image
Outlander season 7's episode 13, "Hello, Goodbye," packs on the nostalgia from the earliest seasons of the show and continues the trend of father-son relationships driving the plot forward. After Outlander season 7, episode 12, there are plenty of questions still left about the fate of Lord John and William after being estranged from Jamie in the wake of his presumed death and reappearance. However, "Hello, Goodbye" provides some touching parallels throughout the episode. As families are reunited, they're simultaneously torn apart elsewhere, and lovers old and new learn from each other.

Outlander follows Claire Randall, a married nurse from 1945, who is transported back to 1743 Scotland. Amidst political intrigue and danger, she navigates life in the past and becomes torn between loyalty to her husband and the love for a dashing young warrior.

Outlander Season 7, Episode 12 Review: Jamie's Return & Haunting Past Finally Dial Up The Season's Stakes
Image
Warning! Spoilers ahead for Outlander season 7, part 2 episode 12!The next installment of Outlander season 7, part 2, starts with a bang and is the most action-packed addition to the season yet. After leaving off on the cliffhanger that Jamie didn't perish on his ship heading back from Europe to America, he and Claire hardly get a moment to celebrate before he's already on the run from the Red Coats. Of course, that's not the only bombshell that was dropped in the first three episodes of Outlander season 7, part 2, as William now knows that Jamie is his father, and he doesn't handle the news well.

Outlander Star Reveals What He Regrets About Last Episode's Shocking Hook-Up
Image
Outlander has never shied away from shocking, even downright traumatic, scenes. Since Season 1, the show has aimed to shock its audience with its gratuitous portrayal of life in the 18th century.

In the most recent, fans saw the aftermath of Lord John Gray’s (David Berry) wedding and the grief he and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) shared for their loss, culminating in a racy scene that audiences not familiar with the books would have expected. And whilst this pairing was certainly shocking, Berry felt it could have gone further than what was shown.

Roger Really Doesn't Understand Time Travel in 'Outlander'
Image
As Outlander's seventh season nears its finale on January 25, 2025, it will be interesting to see how the Frasers survive the American Revolution. What's less interesting is the ridiculous obsession that Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin) has with time travel and the annoying conversations he continues to pester the others about, especially in Season 7, Episode 9, "Unfinished Business."

While it makes sense that Roger would be concerned about his son Jemmy (Matthew Adair), the silly existential queries become too much to bear. Not only does Roger anger his friends and allies, but his illogical infatuation with all things time travel is most obnoxious for fans who've dealt with the show's paradoxical time shifts for years and somehow understand its machinations better than he does. Then again, not much about the Outlander makes much temporal sense anyway.

Does Jamie Die In Outlander Season 7, Part 2? Show Future & Book Story Explained
Image
Jamie Fraser's fate in Outlander season 7 part 2 is a major question after the new trailer. Jamie is known for cheating death on many occasions, but the official trailer for season 7 part 2 leaves his survival a mystery. For now, at least, it's unclear what plan the series has for the beloved character and a long-term staple of the Outlander cast.

Starz release of Outlander season 7 part 2 official trailer reveals the TV series could avert from the books with one major detail. Jamie's teased death appears different from the novel, leaving room for fans to wonder if he is truly dead. That doesn't seem impossible, especially since some changes will likely have to happen with the series ending after season 8 when there are 10 books. However, Jamie and Claire's love has trumped every obstacle, and with Outlander season 8 still to come, Jamie could live through season 7 regardless.

How Outlander Season 7 Teases Jamie's...

Something in the Water opens with an attack in a London subway station. Not by a shark on its way to visit relatives at the aquarium, but by a group of homophobes who take objection to Meg and Kayla daring to hold hands in public. It leaves Meg with mental and physical scars, as well as causing the pair to break up.

A year later, Lizzie and Dominic are getting married at a Caribbean resort, reuniting several old friends including Dominic’s sister Cam, Ruth and, much to each other’s dismay, Kayla and Meg.
