Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy have been cast in the second season of BBC and Tubi drama series Boarders.

The Traitors host Cumming and EastEnders actress Cassidy will join a cast including leads Josh Tedeku, Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Myles Kamwendo and Aruna Jalloh in the coming-of-age series about five talented black inner-city teens who gain scholarships to the prestigious St. Gilbert’s boarding school. Creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor stars in the series

Cumming will play Alan, a man with high standards of the students at St. Gilbert’s, and Cassidy will appear as Sharon Hail, a teacher at a rival school. After years of behind-the-scenes shakeups and drama, Starz (mercifully) put Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods” series out of its misery, handing it a cancellation earlier this year. But that isn’t stopping Gaiman from continuing that story, in a way, with a brand-new studio supporting it.

According to THR, Gaiman has reached a deal with Amazon to produce a six-episode limited series adapting his novel, “Anansi Boys.” The six-episode series is expected to begin production later this year in Scotland and will be written by Gaiman alongside Lenny Henry, Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori.

The six-episode limited series will begin shooting in Scotland later this year.

Based on Gaiman's novel of the same name, Anansi Boys follows Charlie Nancy, a young man who is used to being embarrassed by his estranged father. But when his father dies, Charlie discovers that his father was Anansi: trickster god of stories.

And he learns that he has a brother. Now his brother, Spider, is entering Charlie's life, determined to make it more interesting but making it a lot more dangerous.

Gaiman, Sir Lenny Henry, Douglas Mackinnon, Hanelle M. Culpepper, Hilary Bevan Jones (Endor Productions), and Richard Fee (Red Production Company) are executive producers.

Gaiman and Henry will also write for the series along with Arvind Ethan David, Kara Smith, and Racheal Ofori. Gaiman and Mackinnon will serve as co-showrunners.

The character of Mr. Nancy appears in both “Anansi Boys” and the Gaiman novel “American Gods,” the latter of which is currently airing a series adaptation on Starz. However, there is no connection between the two projects and “Anansi Boys” will serve as a stand-alone story.
