Avatar: Fire And Ash First Official Poster Released; Trailer Confirmed To Debut With The Fantastic Four
Image
Disney has confirmed recent reports that the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash will screen ahead of Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps this weekend. We're not sure when it will be released online, but we're hearing July 28 (it will almost certainly leak before then).

In the meantime, we have a first official poster for the sci-fi threequel, which introduces Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) as the villainous leader of the Ash People, aka the Mangkwan Clan, Varang.

Cameron has previously said of the character: "Varang is the leader of a people who have gone through an incredible hardship. She's hardened by that. She will do anything for them, even things that we would consider to be evil."

Check out the poster artwork at the link below, along with some reactions to the trailer, which was shown to those in attendance at last night's LA premiere of First Steps.

Everything We Know About Avatar: Fire & Ash
James Cameron
Released in 2009, director James Cameron’s film Avatar became the first movie to officially gross more than $2 billion. Then it took him thirteen years to get a sequel into theatres, so it wasn’t clear if the follow-up was going to be able to replicate that success. But then, sure enough, Avatar: The Way of Water also grossed more than $2 billion, paving the way for not only Avatar 3, or Avatar: Fire and Ash, (which is scheduled to reach theatres on December 19, 2025) but also Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 – which will be released on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031, respectively. We’ll dig into the fourth and fifth movies eventually, but they’re still pretty far down the line. For now, we’ve put together a list of everything we know about Avatar: Fire and Ash. Here we go:

Avatar 3 Producer Addresses Rumors Surrounding Title Leak
Image
Despite suggestions that the title for Avatar 3 might be The Seed Bearer, producer Jon Landau says it's not the case.

"I'm qualified to tell you that that is not the title for Avatar 3," Landau told ComicBook at an Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora video game event. When the long-time franchise producer was told that Avatar: The Seed Bearer appeared on his Wikipedia page, he said the error would be rectified immediately. "That's what my Wikipedia page says? That is getting changed tonight!" he said.

Related Sigourney Weaver Reveals Avatar 3 Isn't Quite as Complete as We Thought Avatar franchise actor Sigourney Weaver admits Avatar 3 isn't as close to being done as originally suggested ahead of its scheduled 2024 release.

Landau recently explained why the Avatar sequels were pushed back for so long following the record success of the 2009 flagship movie. "Look, we don't want to do anything in any area without quality,...

The 10 Best Moments In Avatar: The Way Of Water
Image
"Avatar: The Way of Water" is James Cameron's magnum opus, a spectacle 13 years in the making. While at times it feels like an updated retread of 2009's "Avatar," the sequel contains more cinematic wonder and stronger effects, suggesting that it's the movie that Cameron really wanted to make over a decade ago. Familiarity aside, "The Way of Water" really is filmmaking at its most cinematic. Not to echo those theatrical ads before the feature, but if "Avatar: The Way of Water" is being watched on anything less than a stadium-sized screen, it isn't being watched the right way.

Your mileage may vary, of course — not unfamiliar territory for those familiar with Cameron's filmography — but "Avatar: The Way of Water" is every bit the groundbreaking achievement that audiences had hoped for. It's big, it's visceral, it's emotional, and it's a staggering technological achievement, a movie so indelible on the eyes...

‘Avatar’ Cast Reflects On Re-Release And Filming ‘Unforgettable’ ‘The Way Of Water’ Sequel (Exclusive)
Image
Following the groundbreaking release of “Avatar” in 2009, James Cameron’s epic sci-fi franchise about a humanoid species called the Na’vi is finally back with the first of several sequels. After a 13-year gap, the saga will pick up with “Avatar: The Way of Water” in December before continuing on with what are currently being dubbed “Avatar 3”, “Avatar 4” and “Avatar 5” in 2024, 2026 and 2028, respectively.

Stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver and others look back on the original while teasing what’s to come as “The Way of Water” picks up on their story over a decade later.

“It’s been about 10 years,” Weaver tells Et of the time she’s committed to the franchise since starring in the first one. “And then, in the meantime, Jim Cameron has written four amazing stories about what is now a family, the Sully family. And so, the stakes are higher. There are more amazing characters.

Vin Diesel
Did Vin Diesel Just Join the Avatar Sequels?
Vin Diesel
Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel may have just joined the cast of James Cameron's upcoming Avatar sequels. The actor posted a video of himself and Cameron on social media from the set of the highly anticipated franchise, but does not confirm whether or not he is actually going to be in that project or another one down the line with Cameron. Diesel did use the Avatar hashtag and he seems pretty pumped to be there with the legendary director.

Now would be a good time to reveal more members of the cast since they are about to start shooting the live action portions for Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4, and Avatar 5. In the video clip Vin Diesel posted, he and Cameron talk about the level of secrecy on the set, referring to it as the "Manhattan Project." Cameron then jokes he's going to have to use...

Cliff Curtis set to soar in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ epics
(L-r) Josh Mauga, Cliff Curtis, Dwayne Johnson, Roman Reigns and John Tui in the new Fast & Furious

Actor Cliff Curtis modestly acknowledges he is not a brand or a marquee name, despite a vast body of work which includes Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider, The Dark Horse, Blow, Three Kings, The Insider, Sunshine, Training Day, Collateral Damage and Crossing Over.

That could soon change as Curtis plays a key role in the latest iteration of Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise, followed by a recurring character in all four of James Cameron’s Avatar epics.

In Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw he plays the brother of Dwayne Johnson’s character, diplomatic security agent Luke Hobbs, who teams up with mercenary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) to stop a new threat — “super-human” terrorist Brixton (Idris Elba). Directed by David Leitch, the action adventure is due to open in August.

The actor...
