In Photos: Celebrating Simone Ashley’s rom-com, Picture This, at a special screening & reception in New York City
Image
Streaming now on Prime Video is the new romantic comedy Picture This, which stars Simone Ashley of Bridgerton fame. Directed by Prarthana Mohan, this beautiful, funny film also features Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After), Sindhu Vee (Matilda: The Musical), Luke Fetherston (Still Up), Nikesh Patel (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Adil Ray (Citizen Khan), Anoushka Chadha (You), and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso). The new film was celebrated in New York City, and we have the photos, but first, the trailer and story of this highly anticipated film!

In this heartfelt rom-com, struggling photographer Pia (Simone Ashley) receives a prediction: true love and career success await her in the next five dates she goes on. With her sister’s wedding looming and her family playing matchmaker, her ex (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) reappears, throwing her love and professional life into chaos. Inspired by the Australian film Five Blind Dates, Picture This unapologetically leans into its modern-day rom-com vibe,...

‘Fire Island’ Star Matt Rogers Hopes Movie Launches ‘Fast & Furious’-Like Franchise ‘For Queers’
Image
Welcome to this week’s “Just for Variety.”

Searchlight Pictures’ “Fire Island” doesn’t come out until June, but Matt Rogers, who plays Luke in the queer rom-com, has high hopes that it launches a big gay franchise.

Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang star as friends who head to the iconic LGBTQ vacation locale ready to have the best summer of their lives. “‘Provincetown’ should be the sequel,” Rogers told me at the premiere of his Showtime show “I Love That for You.” “Let’s do ‘Palm Springs.’ Let’s do ‘Puerto Vallarta.’ This is going to be the ‘Fast & Furious for queers!”

Then Rogers, who co-hosts the “Las Culturistas” podcast with Yang, cracks, “I’m the Michelle Rodriguez of the bunch, baby.” As I was the first to report, “Fire Island” will world premiere on June 2 at NewFest Pride in NYC. It begins streaming on Hulu the following day.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ 10 episode 1 recap: Which queen was the fiercest in the season premiere ’10s Across the Board’? [Updating Live]
Season 10 of the Emmy-winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race” kicked off on VH1 on Thursday (March 22), with a sizzling premiere that showcased the 14 fierce queens in the competition. Among these hopefuls is season 9 contestant Eureka, who had to bow out of the show after an injury. The premiere, titled “10s Across the Board,” also featured a hotly anticipated appearance by pop music icon and star of “Burlesque” Christina Aguilera!

Based on our exclusive predictions, Aquaria is the early favorite to win. This 21 year-old from Brooklyn is the youngest queen in the competition and has odds of 2/1 to take the title. Close behind with odds of 4/1 is Asia O’Hara who, at 35, is one of the two oldest contestants (Mayhem Miller is also 35). Sometimes, the first episode of “Drag Race” does not end with an elimination. If it does, we are predicting that Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams will be bounced.
