Netflix has released the trailer for The Summer Hikaru Died, based on Mokumokuren‘s hit manga of the same name.
The Japanese coming-of-age horror anime series premieres July 5.
Yoshiki and Hikaru live in a rural village and have been close friends since they were young. On a perfectly ordinary summer day, as they laugh over trivial things, Yoshiki turns to Hikaru and says, “…You’re not Hikaru, are you?”
Six months earlier, Hikaru went missing in the mountains and returned unexpectedly a week later. The new Hikaru looks and sounds just like the original, but something else is stirring within him.
Yoshiki continues spending his days with the “something” imitating Hikaru, while pretending as if nothing has changed. Meanwhile, strange incidents begin to plague the village.
Directed by Ryohei Takeshita (“Jujutsu Kaisen”), the animation is produced by CygamesPictures (Blade Runner: Black Out 2022).

Let’s be real: adapting a manga as dark, wild, and flat-out bizarre as Hell’s Paradise (Jigokuraku) isn’t exactly a typical day at any animation studio. This isn’t just any shonen story where they scream and power up mid-air. Nope. We’re talking about this gruesome, gory world of Shinsenkyo, a divine island with monsters and the Elixir of Life.
For real, it’s as wacky and disturbing as it reads, and fans absolutely love it. So, when the anime adaptation was announced, everyone was looking at Mappa (naturally) and director Kaori Makita, wondering how they’d bring Yuji Kaku’s wild, amazing nightmare to the screen. But it wasn’t all easy. The process did have some headaches, and one big one that Makita had to mention was the voices.

Over the last decade, My Hero Academia has risen to become one of the most popular anime shows in recent years. It tackles the superhero genre quite well and has a good comedic atmosphere, but it also has serious emotional and intellectual weight with its commentary on society, discrimination, and the true meaning of good vs evil.
By now, My Hero Academia has seven seasons and counting, and countless anime fans are heavily invested in the story of Izuku Midoriya and his hero friends. But even the most dedicated fans can find plenty of other, similar anime to watch in between weekly updates of My Hero Academia's upcoming eighth season. Most of them are also shōnen action anime or perhaps seinen as well.

While no recent series can compare to Demon Slayer's level of success and influence in terms of impact on the industry, this doesnt mean that viewers cant find compelling animes to watch after finishing Ufotables adaptation. Fortunately, there are several animes that not only share similar thematics with Demon Slayer but are also equally enjoyable, allowing viewers to pleasingly watch while waiting for the premiere of the anticipated Infinite Castle trilogy film.
Just like Demon Slayer's author has revealed that the story was inspired by iconic series like Bleach, Naruto, and JoJo, and fans can easily track their similarities, some animes share many elements with Koyoharu Gotouges story. Either because of the characters setting, worldbuilding, or having a katana-wielding protagonist fighting some monster creature, these animes are a must-watch for every fan of Demon Slayer.

One of the most popular demographics in anime and manga, shonen has been responsible for some of the mediums greatest hits for many decades. Originally regarded as a manga category that targets young males as its primary demographic and caters to their interests, shonen has long transformed into a broad and diverse genre enjoyed by all ages and genders. Most of the genres classics, from action-adventure epics like One Piece to sports dramas like Hajime no Ippo, are regarded as some of animes best, most inspiring tales.
Even when anime skyrocketed in popularity internationally, shonen remained the mediums leading genre, with many of its hits from the past few decades, such as Attack on Titan and Noragami, already earning the status of modern classics. Yet, the newest generation of shonen anime might be one of the most prolific and multifaceted in the genres history.

In the world of anime, there is always at least one character that will stand out in a crowd because of their very peculiar hair color. As it happens, those characters also tend to have very memorable stories as well as unique personalities, which makes them so very fascinating. There are no limits when it comes to what hair color a character can have: blue, green, gray, bi-color. There are characters with hair colors pretty much everywhere on the light spectrum.
Colors are often given a certain connotation. Pink, for example, is very often associated with romance, joy and femininity. However, when it comes to anime, all those connotations go out the window. Anime fans can easily find themselves looking at a character with pretty pale pink hair who also happens to be a psychopath or stumble upon a character who's the personification of goodness.
