Kelli Giddish Talks ‘Law & Order: Svu’ Return With New Showrunner and Big Surprises
Image
You can’t keep a good woman down. Last May, it was announced that Kelli Giddish would return to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a series regular, reprising her role as Sergeant Amanda Rollins. Although she has appeared as a special guest star since her departure, Giddish has not been a regular cast member since Season 24 Episode 9, “And a Trauma in a Pear Tree,” when Rollins married Ada Dominick Carisi Jr. (Peter Scanavino) and left the squad to teach at Fordham University. Reunited with her old squad, Giddish is thrilled to be back. She shared her happiness in an interview with Extra, where the Svu actress discussed her return as a series regular and what it means for both the show and her character. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is set to return this fall on NBC for season 27, with Mariska Hargitay's Captain Olivia Benson once again leading the way, along with Ice-t's Fin Tutuola and the full-time return of Kelli Giddish's Amanda Rollins. Whoever came up with this question, I just want to say thank you so much. You've done more for my community than you can even imagine. And my community is just me really.

Law & Order: Svu Season 27 Gets An Exciting Stabler Update
Image
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fans have something else to look forward to in season 27 besides the returns of Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano). It appears that original series star Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) will also be returning for the new season.

Meloni left Law & Order: Svu ahead of the season 13 premiere. He headlines the Law & Order: Organized Crime spinoff that currently streams on Peacock.

Meloni fanned the flames for fans when he shared images from the Svu set on his Instagram. The series of images show Meloni posing with Svu star Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, and Dann Florek, who played their original supervisor in the series, Captain Don Cragen.

Florek has appeared in a handful of episodes of Law & Order: Organized Crime alongside Meloni, but he has not been back to Svu since the 500th episode in season 23. Meloni...

Chris Meloni Returns to Svu After 14-Year Absence
Christopher Meloni
Christopher Meloni will reprise his career-defining role as Detective Elliot Stabler in an upcoming guest appearance on NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” he confirmed on social media this week. It will be his first scripted visit to the flagship series since he exited in 2011 after contract negotiations faltered, ending a 12-season partnership with Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson that began with the show’s 1999 debut.

Late Friday the actor shared backstage selfies with Hargitay and original cast mate Dann Florek, writing that he was “hangin with friends” as cameras rolled on Season 27 in Manhattan. The post followed a playful exchange on X in which he told a fan he was “f—ing trying” to land the long-awaited Benson-Stabler kiss, a remark that quickly drew thousands of likes.

NBC has slated the new season’s launch for September 25 at 9 p.m. Et, keeping Svu at the center of...

Chris Meloni Teases ‘Law & Order: Svu’ Appearance: “Hangin With Friends”
Image
Chris Meloni will return to his alma mater, Law & Order: Svu, for the upcoming 27th season of the perennially popular procedural, the actor confirmed in a recent Instagram post.

“Hangin with friends on a Friday nite @therealmariskahargitay @dannflorek,” the Emmy-nominated actor wrote on social media alongside selfies of himself with fellow series vets Mariska Hargitay and Dann Florek.

Deadline’s sister publication TVLine first reported the news, which follows previous announcements of behind-the-scenes changes at the NBC juggernaut. In May, Deadline exclusively reported that Juliana Martinez and Octavio Pisano would not be returning to Svu as series regulars, and writer/executive producer Julie Martin and director/executive producer Norberto Barba would also be exiting the venerable drama. Additionally, Kelli Giddish is returning full-time, reprising her role as Amanda Rollins. And, viewers will get to see more of Captain Curry via Aimé Donna Kelly, who is being upped from...

Rollins Returns Full-Time In New Law & Order: Svu Season 27 BTS
Image
Law & Order: SVUseason 27 behind-the-scenes images show Kelli Giddish's Rollins returning full-time. Giddish joined the cast of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in season 13 as Detective Amanda Rollins, who became a firm fan-favorite during her stint on the show. She eventually left as a series regular midway through Svu season 24.

Rollins' story arc had the character leaving after she resigned from Svu following her wedding, and took a full-time post teaching criminology at Fordham University. Behind the scenes, Giddish's departure was believed to have been forced due to salary disputes, but things were ironed out, and she will return to the show in a full-time capacity for season 27.

Per TV Insider, brand new BTS images show Giddish alongside her former (and now current) Svu co-stars, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Olivia Benson, and Peter Scanavino, who plays Sonny Carisi. The trio was spotted during filming around New York...

See Kelli Giddish Back as ‘Svu’s Rollins With Mariska Hargitay & Cast (Photos)
Image
Law & Order: Svu Season 27 production is in full swing as the stars take to the streets of New York City for filming, and while it’s too tough to discern what storylines Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and team will be tackling, it’s more than clear Kelli Giddish is fully back as Amanda Rollins. Giddish was spotted on set alongside Hargitay and their costar Peter Scanavino, who plays Sonny Carisi in the long-running procedural drama from executive producer Dick Wolf, as they filmed scenes around the city on July 29. As the images reveal, despite the late hour of the shoot, NYC’s heatwave had the cast members cooling themselves down with hand-held fans. Still, everyone was all smiles as they posed together for photographers between scenes for the series. As fans will recall, Giddish’s full-time return as Rollins was announced earlier this year in May. Jose Perez...

Captain Olivia Benson herself, Mariska Hargitay took to Instagram to show fans a glimpse into the 16th Precinct for the new season. Law & Order: Svu's Mariska Hargitay & Kelli Giddish Sit Courtside At Knicks Game Before Rollins' Season 27 Return
Image
Mariska Hargitay and Kelli Giddish recently sat courtside at Knicks games following the news that Giddish's character, Amanda Rollins, will be returning to Law & Order: Svu season 27. Rollins' return was confirmed last month by NBC, and that she would be returning as a series regular. Giddish's exit from the series back in 2022 was a devastating blow to fans, and her return is one many have been waiting for, including Hargitay.

‘Law & Order: Svu’ Season 27 Must Honor Mariska Hargitay’s Best Tradition After Major Exit in Season 25 Best Episode
Image
Law & Order: Svu Season 26 officially came to an end with the creepiest episode, Post-Rage. Mariska Hargitay’s show has been renewed for a new season, but there is a major reshuffling happening in terms of the cast. While the show considers a new cast, we hope they include someone to replace an essential character.

As far as the show’s tradition goes, Olivia needs someone in the higher-ups to ruffle feathers with. This meant pushing back their political and other agendas, and debating how they would about a case. Season 26 lacked such a figure after the exit of Chief McGrath in one of the best episodes of Season 25.

‘Law & Order: Svu’ to Bring Back Kelli Giddish as Series Regular for Season 27
Image
Kelli Giddish is coming back to “Law & Order: Svu” as a series regular in Season 27, Variety has confirmed.

Giddish originally joined “Svu” back in its 13th season as detective Amanda Rollins. She remained with the show as a main cast member until midway through Season 24. It was explained on the show that Rollins had married Ada Sonny Carisi Jr and then taken a teaching position.

She has made returns to the show since, however, first as a guest star in the Season 24 finale and popping up in episodes in both Season 25 and 26. This marks her return to full-time status with the series.

Giddish has also played Rollins in “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Organized Crime” as well as fellow Dick Wolf shows “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago P.D.”

She is repped by Untitled Entertainment and Goodman Genow.

“Svu” was renewed for another season along with “Law & Order” earlier in May.

Image
Kelli Giddish is returning to Law & Order: Svu as a series regular in season 27, according to Deadline, reprising her role as Sgt. Amanda Rollins. It's exciting news today for Svu and Kelli Giddish fans, who saw Giddish exit Svu full-time and be reduced to a recurring role beginning in season 24. However, Giddish will now return as a full-fledged member of the cast next season.

Giddish, who joined the Law & Order:svu cast in season 13 in the wake of Christopher Meloni's departure as series regular in season 12, portrayed Rollins as a series regular until the midpoint of season 24, when her character departed Svu to take a teaching job at Fordham University and was subsequently moved to recurring status. In season 26, it was revealed that Rollins had left academia and joined the NYPD's Intelligence Unit, explaining her absence from the show due to extensive traveling.

Image
The long-running police procedural Law & Order: Svu scored a renewal for Season 27. Amid the good news, the NBC crime-fighting series has another good surprise.

After retiring in Season 24, Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) returned to the series in Seasons 25 and 26 as a guest star. Following her recent return, the longtime series must've thought about her time on the show, where she played the character in over 260 episodes on the main series. Per Deadline, Giddish is now officially making her way back to Law & Order: Svu as a series regular.

Despite massive cancellations for the 2025-2026 season, NBC bet again on one of its massive franchises: Law & Order. Both Dick Wolf series Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu scored a renewal, and will return for Season 25 and Season 27, respectively.

Law & Order: Svu also underwent a big cast shakeup. Just ahead of the renewal, it was reported...

‘Law & Order: Svu’: Kelli Giddish Returning as Rollins Full-Time in Season 27
Image
Welcome back, Sergeant Amanda Rollins! Kelli Giddish is going to once again be a series regular on Law & Order: Svu, for Season 27, airing in the fall on NBC, TV Insider has confirmed. (Deadline first reported it.) This news comes after Giddish has been recurring throughout Season 26. Giddish joined Svu in the Season 13 premiere and exited as a series regular during Season 24. Rollins and Carisi (Peter Scanavino) got married, then she left the NYPD and began teaching, where it was clear to everyone that she was very, very bored. She consulted on cases, returning for episodes that season as well as the following. But it was in Season 26 that she returned in a more heavily recurring role, with a new job: working in Intelligence and now a sergeant (she left Svu as a detective). “Rollins loves her new job. She says it’s like getting to eavesdrop on the whole world.

Image
“Law & Order: Svu” fans have a treat in store when the NBC procedural kicks off its 27th season this fall: the return of Kelli Giddish as a series regular.

Giddish, who exited the show during its 24th installment back in 2022, will be reprising her role as Detective Amanda Rollins, TheWrap has learned. The news comes three years after Giddish’s departure was first announced, though she has been a recurring character in Season 26, now working for NYPD’s Intelligence Unit.

Giddish will return as a series regular alongside Mariska Hargitay’s Captain Olivia Benson, Ice-t’s Sgt. Fin Tutuola, Peter Scanavino’s Ada Sonny Carisi, Kevin Kane’s Detective Terry Bruno and Aimé Donna Kelly’s Captain Renee Curry.

News of Giddish’s return comes weeks after it was revealed that two other “Law & Order: Svu” regulars, Octavio Pisano and Julianna Martinez, will leave the NBC procedural after the end of Season 26. Pisano,...

‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ Season 27 Just Gained Back a Former Series Regular
Image
After two and a half years, Kelli Giddish is officially making a return to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a series regular. Giddish's Amanda Rollins left mid-season 24, with the actress departing the show as a series regular. She'd made guest appearances over the last two and a half years, first returning as a friend, confidant, and professor and now as a sergeant with the intelligence division.

Deadline now confirms that Rollins will be back for the historic Season 27 as a series regular. There have been a series of shakeups ahead of the 27th Season. The series just lost two series regulars, Juliana Martinez and Octavio Pisano, as well as two executive producers: Julie Martin and Norberto Barba. What the show has gained, in addition to Giddish's return, is the first female showrunner in the series' history, with Michele Fazekas taking over as showrunner from David Graziano.

Could Kelli Giddish's...

Rollins Returns: Kelli Giddish Rejoins ‘Law & Order: Svu’ As Series Regular For Season 27
Image
Exclusive: This is news Law Order: Svu fans — and series’ star/executive producer Mariska Hargitay — have been awaiting for two and a half years: Kelli Giddish is returning to the venerable NBC crime drama full-time, reprising her Amanda Rollins role as a series regular for its upcoming 27th season.

In one of the most talked about cast exits in Svu history — up there with original co-lead Christopher Meloni’s shocking 2011 departure — Giddish left as a series regular midway through Season 24 after Rollins married Ada Sonny Carisi Jr (Peter Scanavino) and left her Special Victims Unit detective job for a teaching career at Fordham University.

She never stayed away for long, returning in the Season 24 finale and appearing in two Season 25 episodes and five more this season. This will mark Giddish’s 15th season on the show overall.

Law & Order boss reveals why upcoming crossover event will be most cinematic yet
Image
Law & Order laid the groundwork for the Dick Wolf television world we all live in today. The franchise has been around since 1990, and incredibly, has managed to keep pace with the various Wolf shows that have followed in its wake. Part of the reason why is the franchise's ability to stage memorable and impressive crossover events.

Law & Order has made a point of setting up at least one crossover a season for the past few years, and 2025 is no exception in this regard. Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu will be joining forces for a two part event on Thursday, April 17 (Law & Order: Organized Crime will close out the block but not be connected in terms of story). It's a tried and true formula, but this crossover is going to be different from all the rest, according to franchise showrunner Rick Eid.

15 Best Law & Order: Svu Episodes, Ranked
Image
One of the greatest television spin-offs ever, which has since become the de facto flagship series for the "Law & Order" franchise, is "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Commonly referred to simply as "Svu," the show focuses on police detectives investigating especially heinous crimes in and around New York City. Given the nature of their law enforcement specialization, the characters in "Svu" often face darker, more sexually oriented crimes than the other "Law & Order" shows. The series has gone on to become one of the longest-running scripted primetime television shows of all time, eventually exceeding its predecessor.

Running since 1999, "Svu" is an American television institution, and it has earned that distinction through excellently crafted characters and cases. Whether it's the fan-favorite duo of Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) or newer generations of detectives, "Svu" has maintained a steadily impressive level of quality. For those that are...
