Guy Ritchie & Tom Hardy's Criminally Underrated Gangster Show Is Blowing Up on the Global Streaming Charts
Image
Guy Ritchie and Tom Hardy are both highly popular names in the film industry. As it turns out, putting them together leads to an even more attractive project.

The duo worked together in 2008 for the crime comedy film RocknRolla, and reunited in 2025 for the Paramount+ crime series MobLand. Since its premiere, the series has become one of the best crime dramas on air, and has been constantly in the charts since its Mar. 30 premiere until its June 1 finale. However, even a month after its Season 1 finale, MobLand continues to top the charts, per FlixPatrol.

MobLand has beaten Dexter: Resurrection to the top of the charts on July 12, securely holding on to the No. 1 spot worldwide. The new Dexter sequel series, which aired on MGM+ and Showtime, had no grip and settled for second place, even though it just came out on July 11. MobLand, however, has been around for a while,...

'Yellowstone' Defeats Both 'Blue Bloods' and Sylvester Stallone's 'Tulsa King' on the Global Streaming Stage
Image
Paramount+ is the home of many exciting shows. In 2025 alone, several of the world's biggest titles have been released to the streamer, making a subscription a must for millions. With such high-profile shows comes the ever-evolving battle for streaming supremacy. As of July 8, 2025, said battle has swung slightly the way of Taylor Sheridan's franchise-spawning series, Yellowstone, which still proves one of the most popular shows in the world despite ending its last season over six months ago.

Per FlixPatrol, the third most-streamed show on Paramount+ globally at the time of writing, Yellowstonehas taken back hold of its podium position from two major competitors. Currently in fourth is Blue Bloods, the Tom Selleck-led procedural that was controversially given the axe back in December 2024. However, the series is still proving popular thanks to the pending arrival of spin-off series Boston Blue, which is set to star Donnie Wahlberg. In fifth,...

Pierce Brosnan & Helen Mirren's Mob Show Blows Up on Streaming
Image
Guy Ritchie's mob drama series MobLand is seeing new success on streaming following its season one finale. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren rule over a London crime family with an iron fist in the Paramount+ series.

Per FlixPatrol, MobLand is ranking as Paramount+'s third most popular content for subscribers watching through Amazon in the U.S., nearly a month after its inaugural season wrapped on June 1. The series only trails long-running procedural Criminal Minds and Showtime's The Chi as of this writing and most recently leapfrogged two spots on the rankings to hit #3 in the U.S. MobLand's current ranking put it ahead of other notable Paramount+ streaming content, including the Taylor Sheridan-produced Landman, the current season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars and even Top Gun: Maverick.

MobLand's streaming numbers got a boost in the immediate aftermath of the finale, when it finished only behind Criminal Minds,...

Paramount+ has finally confirmed what everyone assumed would happen, officially announcing that MobLand has been renewed for season two. The series premiered in March 2025, but the streamer’s announcement didn’t include a target date for the debut of season two.

Is ‘MobLand’ Returning for Season 2? Everything We Know So Far
Image
The finale of Paramount+’s gritty new drama MobLand arrived on Sunday (June 1) and brought to a close the bitter crime family feud between the Harrigans and the Stevensons. The episode, titled “The Beast in Me,” saw the Harrigans win out over Richie Stevenson (Geoff Bell) after Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) convinced the family’s duplicitous lawyer O’Hara (Lisa Dwan) to double cross Richie, leading to the deaths of all of Richie’s remaining foot soldiers and, well, himself. This put to an end the battle that had been waged all season long, following Eddie’s (Anson Boon) murder of Richie’s son Tommy (Felix Edwards), at the urging of family matriarch Maeve (Helen Mirren). The clash cost many, many lives — on both sides — and left the door open for much more conflict ahead with others. So is the show returning for Season 2 to pick up where the story left off?...

Image
Paramount+ subscribers haven't seen the last of the Harrigans. The streamer has renewed MobLand for a second season.

The renewal comes three weeks after the crime drama's Season 1 finale. Despite keeping fans on the edge of their seats for almost a month, another season of MobLand never seemed in doubt, considering that the show has been a major streaming hit for Paramount+. Back in April, the streamer reported that MobLand had become its biggest global series launch ever, delivering 2.2 million views on premiere day. Ronan Bennett created MobLand, which was originally developed as an offshoot of Showtime's hit crime drama series Ray Donovan before being reconceived as a standalone project.

MobLand follows the Harrigans and Stevensons, two warring London crime families, who "clash in a kill-or-be-killed battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. Caught in the crossfire is Harry Da Souza, the street-smart ‘fixer’ as dangerous as he is handsome,...

Tom Hardy's New 75% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Drama Stays Strong Despite Cancellation Concerns
Image
MobLand may be one of the grittiest crime dramas on TV right now, but even its fate is up in the air. Nearly a month after the Season 1 finale dropped on Paramount+, the streamer has yet to confirm whether or not the series will be returning for a second season. Still, fans aren’t letting that stop them from rallying behind the show keeping it in the global Top 10 — and they’re not alone.

Created by Ronan Bennett, MobLand stars Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren in a Shakespearean war of succession and betrayal set in the underbelly of Irish-British organized crime. The series currently holds a solid 75% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even stronger 77% audience score, reflecting just how invested viewers have become in the Harrigan empire's bloody chess game. Image
If you're still reeling from the explosive finale of MobLand Season 1, you're not alone — Pierce Brosnan is right there with you. The actor, who plays the razor-sharp but increasingly cornered, angry Irish crime boss Conrad Harrigan, says he hasn’t been told what comes next. And that’s exactly how he likes it. Speaking with Collider's Taylor Gates alongside Samuel L. Jackson— his co-star in the upcoming Western The Unholy Trinity — Brosnan was asked what he hopes to see if MobLand is renewed for a second season. He noted that he had no idea where the story would be going, only stating that he had his own ideas which he had yet to share with the show's creative minds:

“I honestly don't know what's going to happen. I have some ideas in my head, but I have not expressed those to Guy Ritchie or to Jez Butterworth or Ronan Bennett,...

‘MobLand’: Joanne Froggatt on Why Jan Really Stabbed Harry, Alice’s Fate & More
Image
The season finale of MobLand ended on a note of violence from a very unexpected source: Jan Da Souza (Joanne Froggatt) stabbed her husband Harry (Tom Hardy) in a moment of anger, leaving both of them instantly horrified … but also oddly well-humored about it. The moment was a culmination of frustrations for Jan. Thanks to Harry’s loyal service to the Harrigans, she and their daughter Gina (Teddie Allen) become swept up in the Harrigan family’s war with the Stevensons and had to hide away with them at their country estate in the Cotswalds to avoid a retaliatory attack. It wasn’t just the danger that Harry’s occupation put her in that roiled her so well; being isolated with the Harrigans also resulted in Gina engaging in a romantic relationship with the often loathsome Eddie (Anson Boon). Jan’s only real outlet of repose was a budding friendship...

Pierce Brosnan Talks ‘MobLand’ Finale, James Bond and Who Sophie’s Real Dad Is in ‘Mamma Mia!’

[This story contains major spoilers from the season one finale of MobLand]

Even in prison, Conrad Harrigan remains the kingpin.

Following the penultimate episode of MobLand when Maeve (Helen Mirren) and Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) were arrested for murder and heading back to prison, Conrad receives a warm welcome to end the first season of the Paramount+ crime thriller. The last scene in the finale, which released on Sunday, showed all the prisoners cheering for him, as he’s now earned the respect of criminals in the mob world.

In an interview about the season one finale, Brosnan told The Hollywood Reporter that scene was “a cinematic homage” to the 1968 film The Italian Job and filmed in the former prison Reading Gaol; he said being in the “powerful Victorian tomblike presence” where Oscar Wilde was imprisoned “was quite memorable.”

While his status professionally still holds up from prison, knives are cutting deeper in the Harrigan family. After Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) found...

'MobLand’ Co-Creator Teases Possible Season 2, If Paramount+ Renews the Crime Drama
Image
Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of 'MobLand'

The Harrigans might not have cleaned up their messes, but MobLand cleaned up the ratings. Since its record-breaking premiere on March 30, MobLand has become Paramount+’s biggest global series launch to date, pulling in 2.2 million viewers on day one and keeping audiences locked in for ten episodes of betrayal, bloodshed, and criminal dysfunction. But what happens next? While Season 2 hasn’t officially been confirmed, MobLand producer Jez Butterworth is cautiously optimistic — and he’s already been telling the New York Post where things could go if the show returns. “If it’s doing that — fascinating and delighting and stimulating an audience — then long may it continue," said Butterworth.

That audience stimulation has been helped along by a powerhouse cast that includes Tom Hardy as family fixer Harry Da Souza, Pierce Brosnan as the psychotic Conrad Harrigan,...

[Warning: The following post contains Major spoilers for MobLand‘s finale, “The Beast in Me.”] Well, the battle has been won, but the war has just begun. Sunday’s (June 1) season finale of MobLand picks up right where the penultimate episode left off: with Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine) lingering in the kitchen of the former prison guard whom he shot point-blank as vengeance for the sexual assault he inflicted upon him in prison. This lifeless, silent corpse gives Kevin an opportunity to vent about his biggest resentments, including the fact that Eddie (Anson Boon) is the son of his wife Bella (Lara Pulver) and his father Conrad (Pierce Brosnan), not him. He also laments the fact that his mother Maeve (Helen Mirren) has turned Eddie into a monster but vows to become an even bigger monster himself, saying, “In this world, my world, only the biggest monster survives.” The actor playing Eddie doesn’t necessarily think he’s a monster,...

12 Best Movie & TV Biopics About Musicians, Ranked
Image
If there's one thing Hollywood loves more than a biopic, it's a music biopic. From "Walk the Line" to "A Complete Unknown," these mythologizing movies about famous musicians tend to be reliable crowd pleasers that, even when they repeat and remix the same formula over and over, are almost sure to win all involved extra attention during awards season, and for good reason.

These films often require even more meticulous work on behalf of the cast and crew, as directors and designers have to capture the feel of iconic locations, time periods, and historical events. Screenwriters have to tell life stories that span decades while naturally weaving musical numbers into the story. And the actors must faithfully and respectfully embody some of the most recognizable and beloved figures in entertainment history, while almost always having to musically perform iconic songs. Making even a halfway decent music biopic is deceptively difficult,...

‘MobLand’ Emmys Shakeup: Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan Both Submitted for Lead Drama Actor, Helen Mirren Goes for Supporting (Exclusive)
Image
Paramount+ is going all-in on its critically acclaimed British crime drama “MobLand.”

Revealed to Variety exclusively, the company is launching an ambitious Emmy campaign that surprisingly places both Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan in the running for lead drama actor. The decision to push Brosnan as a co-lead — rather than a supporting contender as many had assumed — is one of several surprising moves in the streamer’s Emmy strategy.

Helen Mirren, meanwhile, will compete for supporting drama actress, avoiding a head-to-head clash with her own work in “1923,” Taylor Sheridan’s Western drama, where she is considered a possible contender for lead drama actress.

Created by Ronan Bennett, “MobLand” centers on Harry Da Souza (Hardy), a fixer for the powerful London-based Harrigan crime family, led by Conrad (Brosnan) and Maeve Harrigan (Mirren). As rival gangs threaten the family’s empire, Harry is tasked with maintaining control and preventing a full-scale war.

MobLand season 1 episode 7 recap and review: 'The Crossroads'
Image
MobLand season 1 episode 7, "Crossroads," might be my favorite of the season thus far, as it finally brings us into the heart of this crime family war. Spoilers below.

While episode 6 kept us glued to the screen for its revelatory insight in the wake of Vron’s (Annie Cooper) death, this week’s episode brings some heated action that is heart-pounding, nerve-wracking, and full of absolute carnage. Brendan (Daniel Betts) only thought he saw carnage as he and Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) were being kidnapped, but he has no idea what awaits him.

Episode 7 on Paramount+ has a lot going on, but our main focus is, of course, on Brendan and Seraphina, as well as Harry’s (Tom Hardy) efforts to find and save them, which also yields total f-ing carnage. Before we recap that, let’s set the stage.

Bella (Lara Pulver) defies Harry’s request to put her business with...

Tom Hardy’s 76% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Series Sends Taylor Sheridan Packing on Paramount+
Image
Only four episodes remain in the first season of MobLand, but Tom Hardy’s new crime thriller series just added another accomplishment to its belt. Earlier this week, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone prequel series, 1923, returned to Paramount+ streaming charts more than a month after its Season 2 finale. Hardy’s MobLand, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, has since claimed its spot in Paramount+’s top 10, now leaving 1923 to fade into the void after concluding its final season. MobLand was written and created for television by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, with Guy Ritchie serving as the primary director of the series. The show has earned average scores of 76% from critics and 77% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and it also stars Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, and Anson Boon.

While MobLand has certainly been a hit for Paramount+ thus far, Hardy has a new movie streaming on Netflix that...

MobLand season 1 episode 6 recap and review: The war is on as Richie fires back
Image
MobLand season 1 episode 5 saw the war between our crime families ignited and burning wildly after the grisly murder of the Stevenson matriarch, allegedly on Maeve’s (Helen Mirren) orders.

In episode 6, insight abounds in the wake of Vron’s (Annie Cooper) death as Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) twists the knife, Maeve (Helen Mirren) schools Eddie (Anson Boon) in the art of chess, and Brendan (Daniel Betts) and Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) go rogue. This week’s recap also finds Richie (Geoff Bell) completely devastated, then vengeful, as he fires back against the Harrigans and sets the stage for a war full of carnage.

Across the criminal line, DS Fisk (Luke Mably) realizes the severity of what’s about to happen if the crime families aren’t stopped. It seems the police have a big decision to make.

Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) admits he gave the order to take out the Stephenson matriarch. Photo...

While Richie (George Bell) and Conrad (Pierce Brosnan) come to an agreement, Maeve strikes out and shows us what happens when you disrespect the White Queen. Let's take a look at what happens in the Paramount+ series' latest episode.

“Within Our Own Family”: ‘MobLand’ Star Tom Hardy Hints There’s a Rat in the Harrigan Clan
Image
Tom Hardy is no stranger to playing morally... questionable characters, but in MobLand, Paramount+’s newest breakout crime hit, his fixer Harry DaSouza might be in the deepest trouble yet — and someone close to the Harrigan family could be the one who sold them out. The Venom and Mad Max: Fury Road star reunited with Guy Ritchie (his RocknRolla director) for the first two episodes of MobLand, which instantly became the biggest premiere for a new Paramount+ original, racking up 8.8 million global viewers. The series joins 1923 and Landman as one of the streamer’s strongest launches.

In MobLand, Hardy plays Harry, a long-serving fixer for the powerful but volatile Harrigan clan, led by Pierce Brosnan’sConrad, cleaning up messes where he finds them. After Conrad kills his old friend Archie (Alex Jennings) under suspicion of betrayal, Harry is forced to clean up the mess — literally. He's even cleaning the curtains,...

'It Didn't Feel Like That Much Time:' Tom Hardy Reveals How He Reconnected With MobLand Director Guy Ritchie After Almost Two Decades
Image
Tom Hardy recently opened up about reuniting with Guy Ritchie after nearly two decades. The pair are currently working together on the Paramount+ series MobLand.

"I didn't realize it was 17 years," Hardy told The Hollywood Reporter when asked how he and the acclaimed director, who also serves as an executive producer on Mobland, reconnected after so much time. "That's quite a long time, isn't it? Well, I just called him on the phone, and it didn't feel like that much time had passed, and he was already interwoven into the project. So we had a catch-up and pretty shortly afterward, we were on set working. So it was pretty straightforward."

Ritchie and Hardy previously worked together on 2008's RocknRolla, which featured an ensemble cast all caught up in the middle of a convoluted criminal plot. The film starred Hardy as Handsom Bob alongside Gerard Butler's One-Two, Tom Wilkinson's Lenny Cole,...

Tom Hardy Deconstructs His ‘MobLand’ Fixer and Clears Up That Venom, Spider-Man Rumor
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from episode three of MobLand, “Plan B.”]

Tom Hardy has added another criminal role to his acting résumé. And this time, with MobLand, he’s unsure how his character can escape his plight. “Harry’s somewhat trapped inside being Harry,” he says of his starring fixer.

The Oscar-nominated actor reunited with his RocknRolla director Guy Ritchie, who directed the first two episodes of Paramount’s crime series. The premiere has become the biggest launch week for a Paramount+ new series (growing to 8.8 million global viewers, per the streamer), joining Taylor Sheridan’s hit series 1923 and Landman as record-holders for new releases.

The first two episodes of MobLand saw Hardy’s longtime fixer cleaning up after the powerful Harrigan family, quite literally as he cleaned up the body of Archie (Alex Jennings) after he was shot and killed by his friend, patriarch Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan), because he was suspected of betraying the family.

MobLand season 1 episode 3 recap and review: The back-up plan
Image
This post contains spoilers from MobLand season 1 episode 3, “Plan B.”

Now that Tommy (Felix Edwards) has been found, the real challenge begins for our fixer: preventing a bloody war. Harry (Tom Hardy) promised Richie (Geoff Bell) that he’d find his son, and he did… just not in one piece. Richie makes a brazen move in the opening of episode 3 and sends the Harrigans a message that he’s done waiting and is coming for them.

Additionally, Harry continues to juggle problems that need fixing, like his crumbling marriage, his housekeeper’s mother’s financial issues, and something secretive with Kevin’s (Paddy Considine) wife Bella (Lara Pulver), who has gone to great lengths to set her father up and record him bribing a foreign official, only to find herself the subject of extortion by a French spy.

What the purpose and endgame are here we do not yet know.

Guy Ritchie's 'MobLand' Starring Tom Hardy & Pierce Brosnan Breaks Premiere Record
Image
For almost 30 years, if you needed a director for a gritty-cool British gangster movie, you had Guy Ritchie on speed dial. The Hatfield-born director has helmed some of the classics of the genre, but stuck to feature films (and the occasional music video and TV movie) over the years. With the new series MobLand, starring Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, Anson Boon, and Pierce Brosnan, Ritchie has leaped to directing TV - for at least two episodes so far. And the folks at Paramount must be pretty chuffed as MobLand has landed the biggest series premiere ever on the platform with 8.8 million views in 7 days, which is a 298% increase in audience volumes compared to its release day figures, according to Deadline.

Ritchie is known for his delightfully churlish characters and fun action beats and the coarse yet playful scripts for MobLand are right up his alley. In an interview with Newsweek,...
