Addison Rae enters “scream queen era” title with role in horror flick ‘Thanksgiving’
Image
Addison Rae Easterling‘s latest acting role comes in a holiday-themed horror movie. The TikTok star and Gen Z icon has a supporting role in Thanksgiving, a new film from director Eli Roth.

Thanksgiving is a slasher film that takes place against the backdrop of Black Friday sales. Easterling portrays Gabby, a popular girl who is best friends with the protagonist Jessica (played by Nell Verlaque). Based on the movie’s trailer, I wouldn’t bet on Gabby to make it through Thanksgiving alive.

Thanksgiving began as a fake trailer that played during the 2007 double feature Grindhouse. More than 15 years later, Roth brought a full version of the movie to theaters. Thanksgiving has received generally favorable reviews, with critic Jeremy Jahns describing it as “a really fun, bloody slasher flick.”

Easterling, who was attached to Thanksgiving nine months before its release, is one of TikTok’s most-followed personalities. She has...

Why The World's End Is Actually a Great Movie to Watch on Halloween
Image
The World's End had unwieldy expectations when it was released in 2013. Not only did it have the unfortunate dilemma of coming out the same summer as another apocalyptic comedy with a similar name – so much so that if you bring it up in conversation, most people will ask if you're talking about the one with Seth Rogen – but it also had the monumental task of having to be a worthy follow-up to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. These are both universally regarded as objectively perfect movies.

The third entry in a trilogy is often the worst, and the reason why has baffled scientists for decades. While the first two entries in The Cornetto Trilogy are widely regarded as great movies, The World's End often falls by the wayside by fans of the series, though the response is often still positive. They'll say they like it, but there's always...

Did MatPat and CoryxKenshin help ‘Five Nights At Freddys’ achieve box office records? It’s just a theory.
Image
The film adaptation of the video game Five Night’s At Freddy’s broke box office records during its opening weekend in theaters, and its respect for the game’s fandom played a big role in its success. Two creators who helped popularize Fnaf — game theorist Matthew ‘MatPat‘ Patrick and Let’s Play star CoryxKenshin — had cameos in the film adaptation.

The Fnaf film was produced by the horror masters at Blumhouse, with Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson in the leading role. During its opening weekend, the adaptation reeled in $78 million at the North American box office and $130 million globally. According to Variety, those numbers established several records: Five Nights At Freddy’s had the biggest domestic debut of any movie released during Halloween weekend, and it gave Blumhouse its most lucrative international opening of all time.

“It’s so fun when it works,” Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum wrote on X.
