At the end of September, JoBlo Media and Octane Multimedia teamed up to launch a new YouTube channel named JoBlo TV, which hosts multiple feature films to watch for free throughout the week. The genres we’ll be focusing on at JoBlo TV are Action, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Thrillers – and the free movies we shared this week were an action fantasy film, a horror thriller, and a modernized version of a horror classic!

This week’s line-up consisted of the action fantasy Viking Siege, the horror thriller Octogames, and a JoBlo TV exclusive, modernized take on the silent horror classic Nosferatu! Here’s some information on each of them:

This week’s line-up consisted of the sci-fi action movie Assassin’s Game, the comedic mystery thriller All in the Family, and the sci-fi action movie Robot Riot. Here’s some information on each of them:

While you wait for Alien: Romulus, the folks over at Devilworks have cooked up their own slice of “mockbuster” fun with Alien Hunt, and we’re debuting the trailer here on Bd this morning.

This brand-new sci-fi horror from director Aaron Mirtes is set for its US premiere on May 14, and you can find it on digital thanks to Devilworks.

You can exclusively watch the official trailer for Alien Hunt below, which looks to combine elements of Alien and Predator. This particular “mockbuster” has very little interest in hiding its inspirations, with the alien designs plucked straight out of H.R. Giger’s beautiful brain. Hey, if you’re going to pull from other movies, might as well take from the all-time greats!

Genre specialist Devilworks has completed post-production on three new titles through its North American production and distribution arm New Era Entertainment.

Devilworks will launch all three films to buyers at next month’s European Film Market in Berlin (February 15-21), with the company based at the Marriott.

After his video insulting a flat-Earther goes viral, Josh is given his next assignment: document Red Wilson (Zach Lazar Hoffman) as he attempts to catch a sasquatch in the Bigfoot trap he built.

In the vein of his successful video, Josh is asked to humiliate Red for his beliefs. This leaves the journalist feeling guilty about his work, as he desires to release important pieces yet is discouraged by the idea that they would not get clicks. MidWest WeirdFest have announced the full program for 2023. The 7th annual film festival – a cinematic celebration of of all things fantastic, frightening, paranormal, and just plain weird – takes place March 3rd – 5th, 2025 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Now Mirtes is back with his latest, Painted in Blood and, I’ll be frank, the press materials put me on the wrong foot from the get-go. You see Mirtes has plied his trade on numerous films, most of which you’d consider decent genre fare. From the highs of the aforementioned American Hunt and sci-fi thriller The Alpha Test to more derivative fare like Clowntergeist and Curse of the Nun, Mirtes has crafted a solid resume.

A few months back there was some controversy in the horror community when, succumbing to political pressure, Blumhouse cancelled the release of their production The Hunt – which was, essentially, yet another hunting humans film a lal The Most Dangerous Game. Yet whilst Blumhouse cancelled their release, High Octane Pictures went ahead and released American Hunt, a film that features the same hunting humans motif but has less political inclinations.

Of course that’s not to say this film doesn’t have anything to say on the state of society, in fact it says a lot about the divide be the haves and have-nots, the rich and the poor, it’s just that American Hunt can be swept under the carpet by mainstream horror outlets as another low budget direct to market title or,...

High Octane Pictures is trying to capitalize on Blumhouse's canceled and very controversial thriller The Hunt with the similar sounding American Hunt. The first trailer arrives with the promise that this is 'the most controversial horror release of 2019'. Whether or not that really is the case, if you were waiting for and disappointed by the disappearance of The Hunt this past fall, then you might want to check out American Hunt as a consolation prize. It does have a pretty cool poster if nothing else.

'Hunt or Be Hunted'. That's the tagline of American Hunt, which may trick folks into thinking they are watching the canceled Blumhouse thriller The Hunt. But audiences are pretty suave these days, and right of the bat, the absence of Emma Roberts and Hillary Swank are going to trigger some bells in the back of the head.
