Im Convinced J. Lo's Returning To Judge American Idol For This Reason
Image
Jennifer Lopez might come back to American Idol now that she's canceled her tour. American Idol season 23 could be the perfect job for Jennifer to provide stability and joy in her life. The beloved judge was a cheerleader for contestants during her previous seasons, making her a great fit for the American Idol season 23 judging table.

Former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez has said that she doesn't have the time to replace Katy Perry during American Idol season 23, but, now that she's canceled her "This Is Me... Live" tour, I'm convinced that she might change her mind and return to the reality singing competition series. Jennifer previously served as a judge during American Idol seasons 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15 (the final Fox season). She helped discover winners Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, and Trent Harmon.

During her time on American Idol, Jennifer was a beloved judge. She was a cheerleader for the contestants,...

‘American Idol’: Will another country singer upset the presumed front-runner like Laine Hardy in Season 17?
Image
Could an upset be brewing on Season 21 of “American Idol”? All year fans have been forecasting Iam Tongi would take home the top prize, but he may not be the sure bet we’ve assumed. This season closely resembles a similar lineup up finalists from Season 17 when 18-year old country crooner Laine Hardy took down fan favorite Alejandro Aranda, who, like Iam, had become a viral sensation since his first audition.

This time around it’s 18-year old Mississippi native Colin Stough who has progressively grown his fanbase each week, delivering honky-tonk renditions of some of music’s most popular tunes. Like Laine, he was barely a blip on viewers’ radar in early rounds, but as judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie have pointed out, his star continues to rise.

‘American Idol’ all-star finale: Keith Urban returns; performers include Clay Aiken, Ruben Studdard, Pitbull, TLC and more …
Image
The three-hour finale of “American Idol” will air live coast-to-coast on Sunday, May 21 (8:00 p.m. Et/5:00 p.m. Pt). Colin Stough, Iam Tongi and Megan Danielle will take the stage for the final time as America decides who will become the Season 21 champion.

ABC has announced the all-star lineup of performers includes the return of former Idol judge Keith Urban (singing “Wild Heart”), who will also mentor each of the finalists. Also confirmed to hit the stage are Clay Aiken & Ruben Studdard, Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Jazmine Sullivan, Jelly Roll, Kevin Cronin, Kylie Minogue, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Daigle, Pitbull, TLC and possibly more!

In addition, judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie will each sing their own hits. The season’s Top 12 contestants including Wé Ani, Zachariah Smith, Haven Madison, Oliver Steele, Warren Peay, Marybeth Byrd, Tyson Venegas, Lucy Love and Nutsa will also perform.

Do American Idol Winners Feel Like They Were Scammed After They Failed To Have Careers As Successful As Kelly Clarkson Or Carrie Underwood?
Image
After the first several American Idol winners were crowned, they all became extremely famous. While the amount of financial success those winners enjoyed varied, there was no way to argue that the show didn't give them a platform at the very least.

Easily Idol's two most successful winners, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood proved that the show can spawn music superstars. After all, Clarkson became famous enough that she got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Underwood has devoted fans who love her lesser-known music.

Despite the titanic success Idol enjoyed during its early seasons, the show became less popular over time. Idol's ratings eventually so far downhill that Fox canceled the show, and it only came back because ABC gave it another chance.

Given that Idol is nowhere near as popular as it once was, it makes sense that several of the show's winners didn't go on to enjoy much success.

Two times is the charm for Season 17 winner Laine Hardy as the 3rd ‘American Idol’ returning rejectee to take it all
Face it. Laine Hardy, the newly crowned winner of the 17th season of “American Idol,” was and is the full package. Young, handsome and talented. Yes, runner-up Alejandro Aranda, 24, is a much more accomplished and original artist and third-place finisher Madison VanDenburg, 17, has a set of pitch-perfect magical pipes (although I do wish the wardrobe handlers had dressed her less like a Vegas opening act and more like a teen).

But Louisiana boy Laine, 18, had one advantage that only Florida native Alyssa Ragu, 17, shared this season. They both tried out the previous year and were cut in the early rounds. That made them hungry and both used the time to improve before trying out again. However, Alyssa — a fave of judge Katy Perry who made it to the Top 8 — focused on polishing her performing skills as she took dance and singing lessons.

‘American Idol’ Winners: Where Are They Now (Seasons 1 – 16)?
Season 17 of “American Idol” ended on May 19. Will the new winner enjoy more success than the 2018 champion, Maddie Poppe? After all, she didn’t even get a chance to perform on this year’s finale despite releasing her first album, “Whirlwind,” just two days prior. What a contrast to the early days of the show, when the previous season’s winner was always showcased on the episode that unveiled the new winner of the franchise.

This Emmy-winning reality competition series began in 2002, For more than a decade, it was a ratings powerhouse with many of those winners enjoying some success. The first-ever champ, Kelly Clarkson, has won three Grammys and turned her fame into a string of hit records and an ongoing gig as a judge on the competition, NBC’s’ “The Voice.” And season 4 winner Carrie Underwood has done even better, having sold upwards of records and won a shelf load of music awards.

Luke Bryan jokes on ‘American Idol’ that Laine Hardy is ‘lookin’ like a whole snack’ after ‘Hey Jude’ performance [Watch]
Following Laine Hardy‘s performance of The Beatles‘ “Hey Jude” during the live Top 5 show of “American Idol,” Luke Bryan joked that the season’s heartthrob was “lookin’ like a whole snack” in his shiny pink suit jacket. Fellow judge Katy Perry, who last week had to be physically subdued from chasing after Laine, exclaimed, “A whole snack? I love it!” Do you think Laine has done enough to win Season 17 of “American Idol”? Make your predictions at Gold Derby before next Sunday’s finale.

Last women standing: Can Laci Kaye Booth or Madison VanDenburg beat the boys on ‘American Idol’?
Thanks to the “American Idol” judges using their save, two women still remain in the Top 5 of Season 17: Laci Kaye Booth and Madison VanDenburg. Laci failed to earn enough votes during Sunday’s live Top 6 episode (along with Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon), but Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan opted to save her from elimination at the last moment. Can either Laci or Madison now go on to join the “American Idol” winners list over their three male counterparts Laine Hardy, Alejandro Aranda and Wade Cota? Sound off down in the comments section.

Will Dexter Roberts be the first ‘American Idol’ finalist to win ‘The Voice’? [Watch]

Dexter Roberts has a unique advantage over everybody else on Season 16 of “The Voice”: a built-in audience. Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan in American Idol (2002)
Which ‘American Idol’ comeback kid has the best chance to go the farthest? Alyssa Raghu or Laine Hardy?
Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan in American Idol (2002)
It is hard to be rejected. But if you want to get back in the game, you do what the song says: Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.

That is just what “American Idol” contestants Alyssa Raghu, 16, and Laine Hardy, 18, have done.

Alyssa, whom Katy Perry affectionately nicknamed “The Sauce” last season, never made it beyond the to the top 24 after a so-so rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow.” Instead of giving up, she to listened the judges and made upgrades to her stage presence by taking dancing lessons and performing in over 200 live shows. She also switched to being home-schooled so she could focus on her singing.

As she said to the judges during her initial Season 17 audition, “I didn’t come this far to only come this far. When I got eliminated, I realized that it was very new to me. And every single critique you gave me,...

Margie Mays
Don’t give up, Burping Girl! 78% of ‘American Idol’ fans want Margie Mays to audition next season [Poll Results]

Even though Margie Mays, aka “Burping Girl,” was eliminated from “American Idol” prior to making the Top 20, fans are nearly unanimous that they want the singer to audition again next season. A whopping 78% of readers who voted in our recent poll have their fingers crossed that this quirky 25-year-old dog walker from Wilmington, De will give it “another chance.” The other 22% of poll respondents thought that Margie’s personality was “way too annoying” and hope she’s done with the reality TV show altogether.

Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan in American Idol (2002)
You heard it here: These 2 large-and-in-charge guys just might fight it out to the end on ‘American Idol’ 17
Lionel Richie, Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan in American Idol (2002)
Some aspiring musical heavyweights decide to slim down before trying out for “American Idol.” Season 16 runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson started dieting before the audition rounds and managed to shed 85 pounds by the time of the finale. Meanwhile, current top-20 hopeful Ryan Hammond dropped 170 pounds last year after undergoing weight loss surgery.

But at least two male winners, Season 13’s burly rocker Caleb Johnson and Season 2’s soulful “Velvet Teddy Bear” Ruben Studdard, who was granted his nickname by guest judge Gladys Knight, didn’t have any problem fitting into their role as the next American Idol.

This year, there are two big guys in the running who are graced with wonderfully unique and mature voices that set them apart from the pack. One is Wade Cota, a 27-year-old Phoenix native with a rather sad back story. His biological father, he revealed during his initial audition, “was the devil.” He would beat him,...

‘American Idol’ Winners: Where Are They Now (Seasons 1 – 15)?
Just two years after it was cancelled by Fox, “American Idol” returns to ABC on March 11.
