Netflix’s Melo Movie is an easy-breezy romance. Part of the reason why the narrative is made to build up through the ten episodes is also the painstaking exploration of the motley of characters that populates the narrative. There are multiple strands of love, not just restricted to romantic union. We have platonic love between friends, siblings, and parental love which sometimes take the backseat in the pursuit of romantic love. Melo Movie is also a variation on the romantic subgenre of enemies to lovers. Through this guide, we familiarize ourselves with the main characters and the cast of Netflix’s Korean drama series.

Bong Joon-ho is one of the most idiosyncratic filmmakers of the modern era of cinema. The South Korean director has been working on films since the ’90s and has become a mainstay of the international scene over the years. That is, of course, thanks to his impeccable body of work, which showcases his remarkable consistency and ability to deliver wild shifts in tone and style. No two of his films are alike, but they share a DNA that could only be attributed to him – that is, the power of his very singular aesthetic.
After debuting with 2000’s Barking Dogs Never Bite, Bong broke into the industry proper with Memories of Murder in 2003. He followed that up with incredible fare like The Host (2006) and did some Hollywood movies to cement his promising career (Snowpiercer in 2013 and Okja in 2017). However, it was after he returned to fully Korean-language films that he really made his mark.

Occasionally a K-drama will come along that feels like a warm hug from someone who understands your every emotion. It’ll be super relatable and unbearably adorable, and when the character heals from everything they’ve been through, whether it be grieving a death, loss of a job, or plain self-hatred, you feel like you’ve healed whatever was broken inside of you too. These dramas are usually about the simple things; they’re never too complicated, and the moral is straight-up fed to you on your favorite platter of sunshine, snow, and romance. Melo Movie fits perfectly into this sub-genre of slice-of-life TV shows, but my one big gripe with it is that it is a tad too long. The show follows Gyeom, a young man who has been so obsessed with movies since he was a kid that he wants to now work in movies. On the other hand is Mubee,...

In a recent interview, Park Bo-Young talked about her dating rumors with actor-director Kim Hee-Won.
Popular South Korean actress Park Bo-Young allegedly got involved in a dating rumor with actor-director Kim Hee-Won five years ago. The7is had affected not only their friendship but all their extended working profile. In 2020, an online Korean community spotted them together enjoying some time at a cafe, which fueled the dating speculations more.
The situation worsened, so the cafe owner had to step up to clarify the rumors. In an interview with a media outlet, the owner accepted his mistake and explained that he circulated the CCTV image to show off a little and shared those pictures without the celebs’ consent. He had further expressed his guilt and regret. In a recent conversation on ‘Fairy Jaehyung’s YouTube channel, Bo-Young talked about it after firmly denying those speculations back then.

Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho’s three animated feature films – “King of Pigs”, “The Fake”, and “Seoul Station” – were highly entertaining ones, loaded with plenty of social messages. The premise of his animated features usually explores non-traditional genres, less prevalent in the South Korean film industry. It would certainly remind us of the works of acclaimed Korean auteur Bong Joon-ho. But, unlike Bong’s movies, Yeon’s animated films aren’t as profound or subtle in their indictment of class structures or other timely themes.
With his first live-action movie Train to Busan (2016), director Yeon Sang-ho has ventured into a wholly entertaining premise of rapidly spreading zombie infection inside a high-speed Ktx train, while also clamorously shoving in sociopolitical messages. Yeon may not have achieved the mastery of Bong Joon-ho in mixing up the genres or in building intricate characters, although he makes up for that through his flawless technical skills...

Parasite is returning to the big screen, this time in IMAX format. Bong Joon-ho’s thrilling modern masterpiece from 2019 is celebrating the fifth anniversary of winning Best Picture and sweeping the Oscars with a special re-release.

With box office performance constantly evolving, it has become clear that there is room for something familiar to be successful again, and that is doubly true when you factor in a premium format like IMAX.
The official X page for IMAX posted that Parasite will be returning to the big screen on Feb. 7. Their post reads, "Don't get kicked down the stairs on your way to the IMAX exclusive re-release of Parasite. Tickets on sale now," followed by this link to purchase tickets.
With studios having success with the recent re-releases of Interstellar and Se7en, it’s easy to see why there is a certain interest in re-leasing legacy titles, especially around a milestone anniversary. With box office performance constantly evolving, it has become clear that there is room for something familiar to be successful again, and that is doubly true when you factor in a premium format like IMAX.

When you "accidentally fall into a career," it generally starts with a purposeful position of applying for or accepting a job that you wouldn't realize would become a long-term commitment. But in Lee Tang's case, his career in vigilantism truly is an accident, as he only ever finds out he is murdering serial killers or psychopaths after the fact. The premise of A Killer Paradox might make you think that the will meander into morality questions of whether murder is ever justified. While Netflix's K-drama does so to some extent, the series actually excels in its absurdity, leaving our jaws hanging with each twist.

Bong Joon-ho's Parasite is a darkly funny movie that critics, audiences, and the director himself have spent ample time attempting to explain and unravel. Despite only coming out less than ten years ago, Parasite has already made a name for itself not just as one of Bong Joon-ho's best movies, but one of the best movies of the 21st century. It was included as number 90 in the 2022 Sight and Sound poll of the greatest movies of all time, and it went four for six at the 92nd Academy Awards, winning Best Picture and Best Director.
Almost a full-on comedy at some points, Parasite effortlessly blends humor and horror for a movie that feels incredibly real and honest. It's an accurate reflection of life, particularly a certain kind of life, with all its pain, fear, and occasional bursts of happiness. The film centers on two families: the wealthy Parks and the desperately poor Kim family.
